Thank you for this no-nonsense, fully detailed overview of how to get CoinopsX set up. I've watched about a half dozen videos and they all leave out critical information. Your video covers it all. Many thanks!
I can't thank you enough for this incredibly well broken down, step by step walkthrough. I am tech handicapped and don't understand a lot of the jargon in some other videos of the like, but you made this so simple for me to understand that I feel confident in doing this myself now instead of crying to my tech buddies to help me. Thanks again, cheers
Thank you so much for this simple-to-follow tutorial. I'm discovering so many games I didn't know about as a kid. Just a heads up to everyone, restart your console after installing coinopsx before you launch it. I forgot to do that and the console did not recognize the files.
Got the Legends Gamer Pro from wally $99 and updated the firmware to 5.25.0 + did the factory reset and both P1 and P2 connected fine. Prepped the USB per the steps here and v4.5 works great!! Did use a 128GB USB to have extra space for any game addons. Good job to the OP
Great video, as someone brand new to this, I just got a Legends arcade last week and was excited to get more games on it. One thing I found is after I installed the Coinopsx it would not launch and say "no coinops x files found". A quick restart fixed this and it is working perfectly now.
Oh man you're lifesaver, I've checked through so many other video's and this one is the only one which worked for me. Followed your instructions step by step and worked like a charm and I'm on firmware 5.5. Big thumbs up thank you. P.s --If you have followed all steps and try to load the coinopsx and getting a error message "no coinopsx files found" leave the flash drive in and just restart the machine and select launch again and you should be in business .
PACO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the PS message. Saved me several hours of rebuilding my files! I thought something was wrong on my end. I restarted with the USB drive installed and BAM! Worked. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@Kaosaephan11 you need to restart the machine with usb plugged. Do not restart it with it plugged in it will do nothing. Just press the power button to restart
This was incredibly helpful and easy to follow. When it's tech-related, I tend to need idiot-proof instruction and this was great. Looking forward to giving it a go!
Thanks a bunch. I have the legends gamer, and this works the same way. I'm doing a video review of the legends gamer and I hope you don't mind me linking to this for reference since you can break it down better than I can.
This is a well done video. You make it seem simple and easy to understand. Thank you! My question is why would they mess with this since it worked perfect before? It couldnt of taken that much space it seems like they are moving backwards. Im still at the old version and haven't upgraded it yet.
i can access the games but coin ops isn't working. I will go through this again I probably didnt do something right. But you are right the sauced build is awesome! so much better than what I had. Thanks.
@Patton Plays on Win8+ you can right-click Windows/Start button you get to Disk Management & Computer Management, among other admin tools. Win+X is the keyboard shortcut, then the underlined letter will open that item. Thanks for the video, about to work on my ULA soon :)
Thanks for the easy to follow video! Question, after setting this all up, can i disable the internet access going forward? Not a fan of having an always on device with open internet narcing on me 😉
Absolute legend! Thanks for the vid. Super easy to follow. Is there any way to exit coinops and go back or do I have to shut it down and turn it back on every time? Sorry if I missed this somewhere
I modded my arcade1up Marvel cab with a raspberry pi4 and have all the best arcade games on it now. I love having a few beers and playing it on weekends.
Dude google “THE BOSS” UNIVERSAL CONTROL PANEL 3P MAX if you want the same form factor to play with another adult without being shoulder to shoulder. Theres also another panel he makes to make it similar to the NBA jam cab for 2 or 4 player with more space (on the 2 player) if you dont mind changing the form factor. The Boss keeps you both angled to the screen and keeps the form factor which I think is dope. Acrade 1up should be doing this design if they are going to keep them so small. The legends cab is prefect size for 2 adults.
Wish I started with like a 2GB first partition. Mine is currently 12GB but will be refreshed after I try out a bunch of games. Apparently all that gets installed there is a 140kb CoinOpsX file. Manually edited the saUCEy pack twice before getting it to fit with this walkthrough. Thanks for all the other info though. Easy to follow.
I just set this configuration up (thanks Patton!) and just a note - if you get a “No CoinOPSX file found” message after trying to launch it, a simple reboot of the system should fix it.
I have everything built on a USB and ready. Silly question because I am new, does the USB need to stay plugged in even when you turn the arcade machine off and on or should it be removed when powering the machine off and on?
I got me and my Dad one. Modding will be half the fun Im doing a custom Cowboys of Moo Mesa cabinet out of the At Games Ultimate Mini. This things rocks I could never get the arcade 1 ups because 3 or 4 games was never worth it for the space it takes up. They really seem to give you tons of ways to use it. I know its over kill but Im probably going to put my modern gamming pc under the hood so then i can consolidate space.
Seems simple enough, also to the folks asking questions, there are like hundreds of you... he said go to the discord for support lol. Not that anyone in the future will read this, since they didn't LISTEN to him to begin with. At first i thought he was kinda being a dick by not responding to yall, but now i see :P
Thank you for making this video. It allowed me to get things setup and working great. I was wondering if you (or others here) could lend advice on if there is a way to combine multiple saUCE collections to one USB stick. For instance, I'd like to combine the Arcade and GBA saUCE collections so when running CoinopsX it will see them all, depending on what playlist I select. Can that be done? My USB stick is 256GB and has plenty of room for many collections. Thanks for any advice!
You don't need to. I already tried it with 4 GB first partition. I am working on a 1GB right now. Obviously I haven't tested the 1gb yet, but I don't see it not working since the 1st partition is only used to install coinopsx which is a very small file. The 1 gb partition works as well.
I did it with a 2gb first partition and it’s worked correctly so far. Not sure if there’s a drawbacks in the long run though. I’d like to know as well his reasoning for 16gb.
I have the new legends ultimate 1.1. The settings menu doesn't have Flash Drive X. Is it named something else on this new cabinet or is there a work around?
Quick question, I just bought the Legends Gamer Pro and setup the Arcade V4 Secret Sauce on my uSB using the AddonX tool. Now i want to add the other consoles (NES, SNES, SEGA GENESIS/CD, NEO GEO, Atari etc....do i just copy all the files from the cox and UDE folders and paste and click "Build" for each one or can I copy and paste all them just click "Build" afterwards?
Did you figure this out yet? I am trying to figure out the same thing. Based on the release notes I think we need to have playlists for each of the consoles. Let me know if you know more. Here is what I found in regards to the lists - www.atgames.net/arcades/release-notes-week-47/
question tho are there light gun games included in this and if yes will they or are they compatible with any of the light guns coming out including the bitblaster from atgames?
That’s what happened to me but never comes up. It’s a good quality usb drive and I formatted perfectly. Just keep getting no coinipsx file found. Any other suggestions?
Same here. Restarted and still shows no coinopsx file found. -Update: I got it to work! I deleted the addonX file then ran addonX tool again from my PC drive then copied all folders to the 2nd drive on USB. I also partitioned 1st drive to NTFS. I loaded USB on core and it worked. I did have to restart core after I loaded.
I had this same problem and what worked for me was deleting the addonx folder from the flash drive, then running AddOnX tool again and letting it recreate the folder.
I have the same problem. Have tried to completely redo the Sandisk Flash drive twice and every time it states there is 'No CoinOpsX File Found'. I'm going to try again with what Charles stated but I'm not hopeful as I redid the whole drive once already. Also, I'm on the Legends Gamer with core (hockey puck) and the only way I know of to do a restart is to pull the power plug to the core (maybe that is the problem?).
This is amazing. We are unboxing the Legends Ultimate on Christmas morning and I wanted to get this set up before then so it is ready to go. Any advice for Mac users? Is there a similar program/app like Flash Drive X that you are aware of?
Sorry I have no experience with Macs. The only thing I've heard of is some program that simulates a Windows PC that can be ran on a Mac, but I do not know what it's called.
Does this method still work or is there an updated video?? Im fairly new to this and I Just purchased the legends ultimate arcade and want to install coinopsx. If there is a new method please let me know or link me to a video if possible. Thanks in advance!
Hey Patton, if you have any say with the secret sauce team, is there any way they can add the 4 player versions of arcade games like the turtles game, X-men game, or the simpsons, etc. perhaps this can be on the version 5 if they are even working on it. Thanks in advanced, great video as always.
Somehow I couldn't get it to work. Whenever I launch CoinOPSX, I would get "No CoinOPSX file found. Please check the USB drive and try again". However, if I use the 2 USB drives method with a USB splitter, it works. Any idea? I have tried using different USB drives and multiple times. Thanks
Question, how did you get from Adding games flies to Using the Addon-X Tool? Should i be going online to retrieve addon-x tool 1.0.18_Beta or it add on from: getsauceywithcoinopsX_Arcade_V4? That where i got lost in your video..
I followed your instructions, and MK 2 and 3 and 3 Ultimate have no sound whatsoever? Any fixes? These are my sons favorite games so it's a big deal for me.
Push the menu button. Go under the adv config in the menu setting. You will see the mame config menu. Go to dip settings and then move test menu to on. Then you will see the advanced settings of the actual arcade machine. Go under sound adjustment and raise up the volume to your desired level. I put mine up almost all the way. When you are done just hit the exit and it will tell you to turn off the test menu. Make sure to do so and then push the menu button and the game will reset with your settings changed and you will have volume. This is needed in most of the midway games.
My only question (ordered the cabinet and a coinopsx drive) is once I get this running, should I avoid updating the firmware? Does the cabinet force you to update?
Hopefully i can get an answer even though this video is a couple years old. If i purchase the arcade now and buy a pre-made CoinopsX flash drive on Amazon, does it work with the Legends Ultimate Arcade?
I have an ALU 1.1 and I am still on the firmware version that asks you to login to Atgames after every 5 uses of CoinopsX. Does this fix the need to login issue or is it really something else being shown here? Thanks.
Ran through all the steps on my Legends Gamer Pro stick and it doesn’t seem to recognize any of the UCE files. I tried them as they were in the folder, tried them outside the UCE folder. Nothing. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue
Side note: After following all the steps, I found that still the CoinOpsX method still doesn’t work, but instead if I leave the partitioned thumb drive UNMOUNTED and leave the thumb drive in long enough to register, I go to the ADD ON section and can access all the games from there. I don’t get the fancy CoinOpsX view of the games, but they are accessible. Weird workaround, but at least the games are playable
I got everything set up, thank you very much. I have one stupid question: How do you exit the CoinopsX app? The only I found is reboot the Legends Ultimate machine.
Quick question, I’ve been using a mini but I just got the gamer pro control deck. I took out my CoinOpsX usb from the mini and inserted it to the pro but it won’t read it. Do I need to unmount it from the mini first?
HELP! Every time I run the AddonX Tool, it never builds all the way to "Done". It gets to the very last game, stalls for a moment, then the whole tool disappears (or crashes).
Total beginner to this... I got the Legends pinball machine just in today. Is this method for mostly arcade games, or are there pinball games that work well for it too?
look at the video description (click show more) he linked all the needed websites for this tutorial including where you can download addOnX tool(which is basically Atgames website)
From my PC I cannot setup 2 partitions on my usb. I can setup the first 16g partition. When I go to setup the 2nd partition I click on the unallocated space left, but cannot select "new simple volume" as it is grayed out. What am I doing wrong?
Great video but where can I find how to navigate it once it's running? I know the joystick moved up and down, the C/Z will move a letter, but that's about it. Mine has many systems and it starts with an ICON saying ALL GAMES about 3/4 over on the bottom of the screen, just to the left of the wheel but if I leave in attract mode it will switch to a specific system and I have no idea how to get out or pick a specific system.
I know this video is fairly old, but I was wondering if the bitlcd Marque would use the ones from coin ops or if it's something you'd have to add later?
To get this to work on the newest firmware update you have to restart the machine after you do everything in this video. Once it retrarts go back to Flash Drive X and remount the USB (Do not reformat it). You should then be able to launch CoinOPSx and have it work.
Question? I split my 64Gb into 2 separate partitions. My UCE/Cox file exceeds by exactly 4.39GB {2nd half of Flash drive). Should I sacrifice some games or can I just move 4.39GB from the 1st half of the Flash drive over to the second half? PLEASE HELP!!!!
@@jameskalil2987 hey James. It works. All I did was format the first partition to 8gb then followed the rest of the guide. If you get an error about no coin op restart the machine and should work after restarting
Hey Patton does your coinopsx not save your favorites when you come back? And does your X-men game work with the v4 edition? Thank you for your videos.
I installed 4.5 of the arcade and I don't get a rotating menu that shows all the games. It only shows a select few. I followed all the steps faithfully. Are there different versions of 4.5 built differently?
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. Quick question: I have inserted the flash drive and gone to "Settings" but do not appear to have an option called "Flash Drive X". ( I am using the new 300 games Legends Ultimate running software ver 10942_A2). The tiny icon for the thumb drive come up in the top of the screen, but no "Flash Drive X" in the settings menu. Any thoughts?
@@erikbleifield4784 Thanks so much for the info! I was able to format and mount! I seem to have hit a message snag saying that essentially I only have FIVE SESSIONS available after mounting CoinOPSX ("all offline mode sessions have been utilized. Please log back into your ArcadeNet account which will reset the Offline Mode to 5 available sessions. Select Login to validate or Exit to leave this page"). Are we only allowed 5 sessions or have I missed something along the way? (Apologies for being a 'newbie' and thanks for your help my friend!)
I have the same question about the counter reaching 0 and now no longer able to play coinopsx. I purchased the legends ultimate from a private seller with the coinopsx loaded already. Hit the 0 counter and couldn’t do anything. Did a factory reset because network wasn’t being seen on the machine and updated the firmware. And going to follow your video for getting coinopsx back on the machine. Will the counter be there? It didn’t show on your video.
I have my unit set to load to coinopsx automatically. So I just push the power button, go grab a beer, bs a few mins and it's ready to go. I have the 225gb build
Does it have to be 64gb I only have a 32 gb Sandisk and after adding the Coinopsx on one of the two partitions and I try to run it the program it says there is no Coinopsx file found in the flash drive. Then I recheck the flash drives partition on computer managment and it says its a RAW partition. I don't get it when the ALU says it only requires a small space for the Coinopsx file. I even used the same Sandisk 32gb card just for the Coinopsx alone with 1 partition only and it still does the same and this is a brand new card too. Been trying this for hrs and nothing yet.
I followed the video when I get to the arcade and I format than install coin ops I go to coin ops and it says coin ops not found but it let me install it
