Thank you for this video, this explained this better than the other videos as in more depth and detail. Now it makes full sense. I got an eSIM for a pre-paid T-Moblie plan because of going out of range for Verizon quite often and with signal being spotty in certain areas. I did it mostly for data less for texting and calling on the pre-paid T-Moblie plan

Hello! I was wondering if dual SIM would work for me? Since I'm from the UK but I'm progressing to live in Canada as a permanent resident with my partner. Would I be able to use my UK sim (o2) and a Canadian esim (Rogers) at the same time if I bought say...an iPhone 13 Pro Max?

I don't know if someone else already commented this, but your apple ID lets you transfer your eSim from one iPhone to another without having to go anywhere, it can also let you switch it to an iPad with cellular connection.

Do you think they will EVER fix the focus mode for when you have dual sim so for instance you could have your personal number on workfocus but your work number available. Now then you have focus mode it effects both numbers which makes little sense ..

Hey Jerad, thanks a bunch for this useful tutorial. I have just set up dual sim on my XR. The primary line is a Mint line and the secondary line is a French carrier that I use when I am traveling there (quite a bit). My French line is currently set up at bare minimum (phone calls + SMS). I can retrieve my voice mail on the French line but don't seem to receive SMS sent to me on the French line ... can you help? thanks. C

Question - I did what you did, my main line is Verizon on the esim, my business is googlefi using a card sim. everything looks to me working expect the imessage and facetime, it just keeps on saying "veriying" nextr to it, when I tap the line to add, it keeps on locking up. Is this something that work itself out with time or am i doing something wrong? I have reset it twice, it still just says verifying. Thanks fo the video and help.

Great video….super helpful. I have had to carry a second phone for work for about 5 years. I tried to do this switch the other day and it didn’t work. I’m assuming I could convert my personal phone sim to esim and then physically place my sim for my work phone in the tray? When I did this it said it couldn’t activate my work sim. I’m using an unlocked iPhone 13 Pro Max

You may want to update this video with some of the iOS 15 features. To transfer physical to eSIM without involving your carrier. And eSIM transfer between iPhones, either when setting up a new phone during the transfer process or once a phone is setup, as long as they’re both logged into the same iCloud account.

Nice video - very little information online about all the correct steps to set up a second line on eSim - I just did it with AT&T and after about 7 calls they were able to do it. First I got a prepaid plan online where the only option is they send you a sim card. Then I called them and they transferred the number/account to an esim. The problem is no one understood what I needed to do next. They sent some sort of notification to my phone using IMEI and EID, but just clicking on it did nothing. You need to go into settings and it will say "new phone plan ready to install" from the notification. Then that has the code as if you had the QR card for your esim and it installs, all without going to the store! The AT&T reps were friendly but none were confident of how it would work. Between all of them they knew except to tell me the last step, which I finally saw when I went to settings after calling and restarting.

I have an Iphone 13 & it does support dual sim: 1 actual sim and 1 e-sim. My question is, will it be fine to buy dual sim card tray to have two dual actual sims than 1 esim and 1 actual sim? Wouldn’t it affect or damage my new phone?

I just converted to dual sim and I can’t get my secondary line, my business line to transfer over any contacts or apps or data. I added the phone number. I have a physical as well as an esim and it’s only showing content from my primary phone. I have no access to anything from the secondary line other than the ability to use the phone number. How do I access all my business texts and contacts and photos on the new dual sim phone?

I don’t think Apple has got this dual technology yet! Been using it & when you set the phone on 1 default like say business & you make a personal call, your person number doesn’t show up so say family or friend who don’t have your work number doesn’t know who is calling. 2nd issue, dual sim doesn’t allow me to pair the Busines line in my car! Which is hopeless because I need this line when I am driving. Is it because my business line is using the e-nano sim & personal on the hard sim?

nowadays, eSim QR codes can be found in your User Account services of your GSM operator, I mean, online and on the cloud. No big deal, IMO.

Hey nice video friend. I have a question for you. I have a contact and I adjust it eg to primary card. In my history calls I have contact with this with secondary card. When I call the person by the history even I have select primary card and I have select to always call him with primary it calls by secondary. Why happens this? What can I do? Thank for the video very informative. I just set up my dual sim with AT&T but I do have a question. When I try to text someone already in my contacts whether it’s iMessage or sms it doesn’t give me the prompt to use my primary or business line. I made sure I went to settings and allowed message to reply and receive with the other line but it still doesn’t allow me to pick which line to text from. It only shows my default.

Do you have both lines enabled in iMessage and under the cellular settings? If you haven’t restarted your phone yet, also do that.

Can you toggle between your primary home country esim line and the physical sim? I want to travel internationally but turn off my home country esim and use a physical sim from the new country while I’m away. But I’m afraid if I turn off my primary it will deactivate and I won’t be able to turn it back on when I may need it when I’m abroad.

They’re both from Verizon, one as my personal and one from work but every time I make or get a call from one line then the other line just has no service for the duration of the call. Great video, explained a lot. I have a couple of questions just to clarify my understanding. If you turn data roaming off on one line and data roaming on the second line do you have to do anything special for the data to work? I assume you would have to select the line that you have data active on to use any data but is there any data charge potential on the second line on which you have data off?

I know, I know, the US market is not the same as the European market. But dual sim has been around since 2010 on android, and it is almost standard on Samsung flagship models outside the US. I wish Apple would just offer a second slot.

This is great, thank you -I bit of a complex question for you (I have been advised that its possible but Im not convinced) Is the following possible; An unlocked Iphone 13 pro max with my primary UK number. AND add an activated sim with my alternate US number for which I pay per text/call and data use? My primary carrier has said its possible, as has the company who I purchased the US sim from ...but none can actually implement for me. Any help and/or guidance would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Great video. Thank you. I also have a personal phone and a business phone and would love to only carry one phone. However, my phones have separate apple id's which means I have photo's, text messages, and contacts from BOTH phones that I don't want to lose. Both phones are iphones and both have Verizon as the carrier. Anyway to combine photo's, contacts and text messages from both phones onto one phone? How does it work when each phone has it's own apple id? Thanks for any help here!

That’s a great video idea. It’s actually as simple as signing out of Apple ID on the device that has the data you want to merge and then signing into the account you want to make primary. The phone will ask if you want to merge data from your phone into the newly signed into account.

@@jeradhilltech oh, please do a video on that process. At what point to I sign out and do the merge? Is it before I get my phone set up with the primary number (and it's apple id?). If you could tell me the steps of what to do, that would be great. I haven't bought a new phone yet (I'll get the Pro Max 13 with the esim capability). I want to be sure all my questions are answered before taking the plunge. I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to merge two distinct phones with separate apple id's. Thanks so much for your reply. Can't wait to hear the process and steps of order.
