My wife and I have been in Korea for about 4 years now and we HATE switching SIM cards when we come back to visit. We have been seriously considering upgrading to dual sim iPhones so we can limit the frustration in international cell plans.

by far and away the best explanation I've seen. Just added a second line via esim and was ready to get rid of it. This video made it very clear how to get the most out of it.

I’m looking to start a business and do a phone upgrade. Saw that the SE 2020 had dual SIM. When I researched whether or not the 12 also had dual SIM, I came across this video. I’m glad I did 👍🏽 Thank you! This was more information than what I was looking for, but it was very helpful

Working fine here with Verizon voice/data as eSIM, and Google FI data-only SIM in the physical SIM card holder.

I tried this before and had issues with reception and battery life. Also found I had issues with calls not transmitting the voice when I answered, or vice versa not being able to hear the person on the other side. Aldo had issue with continuity on MBP when trying to answer calls on Mac. Do you have any experience with this? Carriers are mobile and Verizon

I think Apple’s implementation of the dual sim is the best I’ve experienced. I have an iPhone XR and a OnePlus 7 Pro with dual physical sim. I prefer the way the iPhone works through the eSIM due to the cellular switching while on a call. You don’t get that option with the OnePlus, you do get a toggle to switch data cards, but not while I’m on a call. With the OnePlus you don’t get voice and data if you’re calling from the SIM card that’s set to calls and texts, which is a bummer. I hope more oems take notes from Apple and implement this to their devices. Awesome video!!

I have used a dual SIM iPhone for two years and have loved it! I am seamlessly able to switch between my Work and Personal phone lines. Even though my Work line is through AT&T, and my Personal line is through Verizon, the iPhone has been able to handle phone call and text messages from both lines. It has worked great!

What i want to know is, are there any disadvantages of getting a dual SIM iPhone?! Is the software different? Like specific to only HK? any other thing? I'm about to buy one in a few minutes. Or am I just getting an extra SIM and nothing else changes?

Thank you for this video! Few questions. If you turn off your secondary line does it eliminate the two bars on the top right? Also, will a phone with two lines show up as two seperate devices on a bluetooth finder app?

great video...i do have a few questions...i have an iphone xr on verizon...i do plan on traveling once the restrictions are lifted...i am also interested in google fi but not crazy about carrying 2 phones around..would i be able to install the google fi sim card into my existing iphone and use both independent of each other? i realize that i would not get full benefits of google fi, i.e. switching between the 3 carriers either here or in europe, but i love the idea of unlimited talk text and the low cost of data usage that google fi has to offer. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated...thank you and keep up the great videos...

Thanks for the vid. I just added another number and unless I'm missing something there's no way to assign a different ring tone to each number. Seems really stupid I can't do this. Am I missing something?

Can you receive calls from either line at any time? Meaning if my personal line is my primary, is my secondary eSIM number always listening and the phone will ring if someone calls it?

Ok, good info. I am travelling to the US this year. I expect to install an esim from the US on my iphone 11 once I arrive. I want to keep my current overseas physical sim in my phone but DO NOT want to incur data/voice roaming charges while using a US esim that has data/voice. Which settings will allow me to roam data/voice on the US esim but switch off that functionality on the overseas line? thx

Thanks this was useful! Do you know if I can still run the phone on a different device with a regular sim still? Example. I want to dual sim my work phone but once a week someone else uses the phone 📱 I would like them to use their own handset that day and essentially turn off the business sim on my phone that day.

How does email and calendar look for two lines? I think emai can be separated or in one inbox, I are the calendars separated? Can you have one ringtone for primary and another for business line?

I have 2 phones, if I transfer the 2nd phone number onto the dual sim phone, will the transferred phone number still work on the phone it was transferred from? Also, are the desktop the same with both the numbers? Are the contacts available with both numbers as well as downloaded apps? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS Joe

Hello sir good pm, do you know how to change if from what sim i will reply in the messages? For example i have received a text from my first sim and i cant reply because i dont have credits, so i will use my 2nd sim, is there anyway to use my 2nd sim to reply? Without exiting the message conversation?

Great video. Can we use 1 line for both phone & data, and the other line purely for phone (no data). I am asking this as adding a second phone line alone (over adding phone + data line) would be cheaper. Also, when somebody calls, does it show which line the call is coming on (Line 1 or 2). Thanks

Thanks for explaining this..... I'm purchasing an iPhone 13 Pro Max from Apple which has dual SIM. One being E-SIM with the other for a physical SIM. My carrier will be as my current one, AT&T. Apple stated that the iPhone will be set up with AT&T with the E-SIM. I have a question; Will the physical SIM slot be unlocked for me to purchase SIM's when visiting other countries? I currently have a Huawei duel sim on android, 2 physical sims in the phone. Your video of iPhone 2 plans within the phone seems a lot easier (just a little no issues with current) such as remembering which contacts use which phone line. Looking forward to getting an apple to test this out

If I have two SIM cards in my phone (one for personal use, one for work), what data is transmitted through the work SIM (#2) when the data is switched from SIM1 to SIM2? ie. I use SIM1 data 90% of the time, but when I switch to data for SIM2 (to tether to my work laptop), what information is sent? Traffic from when the SIM is active, or a history of traffic?

Is there still a bug when you receive an sms from the secondary, and you cannot reply via text with your primary e-sim? There's no option to select primary or secondary in Messages app.

Although you cant have two whatsapp apps when using dual sim, i know you can use whatsapp business. My question is, would i have to be switching lines for data in order to get the whatsapp notifications on either line?

Hi Thanks for your video Can you have a different ring tone for each sim? The only way to currently tell which line is calling is the tiny tiny box on the screen. You need glasses and when your driving you have know idea what line is calling you. I have two sims as i have a business in two states with different pricing and information so i need to know the location of the person who is calling me. Can you suggest another way to identify the line calling you?? thanks for any help with this

what about the 2 physical sim phones available in other countries and the U.S. grey market I have a samsung with 2 and if I replace it, I would like the same. mine came from frys. are they still being grey marketed, a very legal and big box store practice.

Wondering if you can set up 2 voicemails recordings? One for the primary(personal) line and a second recording for your business line. I like having a more professional voicemail for when clients call my business line.

I actually activated a Google Fi eSIM on my iPhone 12 and my secondary line with a physical TELCEL SIM in Mexico, since I often go and I don't want to get my Fi service terminated or suspended due to excesive roaming usage. Dual SIM is just a pretty good function.

Like I would prefer if my text message screen gave me the option to just see “business” or “personal” line messages. Well said ... I wish Instead of selecting Primary and Business all the time, I wish they made it so you can switch from Primary main screen, or Business main screen. If you’re on the Primary main screen, everything you do is from Primary. If you were on the Business main screen, then everything you do is on the Business number

It is minimal. If anything it will drain from using the phone more having two lines than the dual SIM function.

Great review of a little known feature that appears(based on your review) to have been well thought out by Apple. Of course, if they really promoted this, it would reduce the need for people to carry 2 phones and thus their handset sales would be less!

How does Dual sim work with apps? Can I have 2 cash apps or 2 Venmo’s if I’m using them for business or will this require me to be signing in & out of the apps to switch between business & personal? Social media as well. Business FB & IG. Does dual sim have the ability to switch between iOS screens/setup completely or are all apps just integrated with eachother? Being able to have a 2 separate iOS screens with respective apps would be fantastic. Is this possible?

Wonderful video. How does going to an esim dual mode help if company right now manages my current personal phone because they pay for my cell bill. Still my personal phone. They’ve is to an app/software that manages certain aspects of my phone. Like mandated 6 digit phone unlock passwords every 6 months. As it’s my phone if like to stay on the pw I chose forever. If I go esim and have the business line on it... will they still be able to manage my phone. Can I now go to my own phone Password again?

Today I dumped T-Mobile’s Digits App that I had been using as my secondary business line but it was so janky that I tossed it. T-Mobile switched that line to the eSim line and activated an additional voice line on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. So my billing will increase from $10/mo to $30/mo but thanks to this video it already helped me immensely get up and running.

I have two lines and use primary for voice and secondary for data. I have enabled 'Allow Cellular Data Switching' and during voice call, if I use data/internet, the amount is deducted from Primary line instead Secondary line. If I disable Allow Cellular Data Switching' internet does not work during call. Any idea how to fix this to use only secondary line for internet (as I have purchased separate package for internet)
