I used the oval shape insert on 80lb cardstock, and it permanently flattened the oval pattern on my embossing folder. Now the embossing folder isn’t usable unless I want the center oval area always flat. Why did this happen?

I've been trying this with my texture boutique and I cannot get it to work. The pattern folder doesn't really press in to the paper and I definitely don't get the diffused area. Anyone tried this?
