How to use fabric and Epoxy to customize any surface! (in this case a table top)

Resurface using fabric and epoxy!
I made this table with a $12 wooden round, epoxy, and some extra fabric I had laying around! The most expensive part of this project were the hairpin legs.
Using fabric and epoxy, the possibilities are limitless! Just takes a little practice. Lazy susans, cutting boards, desks, tables, cups/tumblers, vases and gift boxes are some of the things I have coated with fabric and epoxy!
I will admit that the solid black, while gorgeous and smooth as glass, shows every single speck of dust and fingerprints... and having 8 year old triplets and a pooch around the house do not mix well with that! I have decided to alter the top of this table with some lines of coloured epoxy in a geometric but abstract way. I'll try to post an update when I get that done. :)

I plan on doing this with shelves that go inside a hutch which I am refinishing. (6) shelves 14" x 16". The shelves come out so once they are finished they will be placed back and permanently secured inside the hutch. The front of each shelf has a slight curve which I now know how to accomplish that final detail. I can hardly wait to get this project started. Thank you. You're video was extremely helpful. 👍🏻👍🏻

Multicraft Mom i used your method for a guitar im working on.....heres another tip. If you get ahold of white polyester/ cotton, you can inkjet print on it and then use this same method of lamination. I used polyester resin instead of epoxy and it worked 😁

I’m unfamiliar with the contours, epoxy flows and self levels, so a thickener would be needed if not flat.

Can this method be used to protect, and preserve leather jacket Patches? I have an embroidered Patch that wasn’t made with quality, but it looks good enough. However, I have an expensive leather jacket I want to put it on, but once I glue the ‘Patch’ on with industrial-grade glue, that’s it! I want to make sure that the Patch never gets damaged.

I don't know if you're interested in ideas 4 videos but I'm about to make homemade ballistic armor plates for standard plate carriers in the field or for home protection or whatever and is not limited to the plates obviously these methods can easily make large panels for making secure bunkers or whatever but other than the titanium Basalt heat wrap that I'm going to use along with a polycarbonate core I'm going to layer carbon fiber cloth which of course it's just called the cloth it's obviously metal though but it's woven and the one I chose is actually a coyote tan camouflage pattern that's integrated into the weave and not actually dyed on. Everyone likes carbon fiber and that was my choice for my outer layer because of how much it's loved as well as it's known for its tensile strength... but Everyone likes carbon fiber and that's my idea I was just wondering if you could do a video on any kind of object with lots of Contours that might resemble the trim in someone's car like door handles or - pieces and it would give lots of people lots of ideas for doing this by themselves at home because all you need is the carbon cloth and the epoxy and hardener and if you want a super gloss obviously wet sanding and buffing might help but people just don't understand the method or how to do it efficiently and of course how to do it without air bubbles and without fogging and that's actually my biggest question because I need a super clear layer over this carbon fiber cloth and I just don't want it looking foggy at all and I've never done an epoxy job at all I've never done anything with epoxy so of course I'll be learning some valuable lessons but I figure starting with a ballistic plate would be best because no one in their right mind really cares about the aesthetic other than the fact that the carbon fiber would be bragging rights for a lot of people and that's all and that's all assuming my homemade ballistic plates even stop bullets LOL but hopefully I didn't Rouse any opinionated trolls around here over the ballistic armor thing I know this is an arts and crafts situation but it's all tied together and these methods are not limited to anything especially what's being molded

I want to use some crush velvet fabric with a little dimensions to it.Do I need to use a sealer first and then pour my resin or one layer of resin then add my fabric get the desire look let dry it and add more resin or might need to make a barriers for to conseal my resin,I'm Brian storming as I'm writing this message I had to much coffee.you have amazing pours art.

Please update when you finish! Im wanting to try this with a thin faux fur fabric but afraid of ruining it!
@multicraftmom2602
@multicraftmom2602 4 года назад
I’ve never Tried it with textured fabric, you would probably have to make a damn around your table so that your resin was thicker. I would be concerned with the texture poking up through, but you could always add layers
@multicraftmom2602
@multicraftmom2602 4 года назад
Thinking about it, crushed velvet probably wouldn’t be too bad. Don’t know until you try! Maybe cut a piece and try it on a small wood blank just to see what it looks like before you try it on a big table.
@multicraftmom2602
@multicraftmom2602 4 года назад
Roxanne Moon faux fur would be completely different, I would probably use a small amount of resin and saturate the fabric, then as it starts to set pick at the fur to make it dimensional, then dam the substrate and pour over that once it’s cured
