Awesome video. At seven minutes into the video you explain how to share a FancyZones zone/window in MS Teams. Many people like me did not know that was possible. Please create a video on your channel with that tiltle heading and you will help many other people. Thanks for sharing!
I need to restart my pc several times a day, and I obviously need windows to remember the size of my explorer and programs windows at restart. I threw in the toilet lot of precious time every time for decades due to this problem. Why when i close windows holding down shift makes the system remember the size of windows but on restart these sizes are not remembered anymore? What can I do to get out of this Windows nightmare?
I would love to have this on my work computer, but noooo...The admins think it is not safe....Microsoft, make this thing portable, please! It would make my life so much easier!
FancyZones works so well with an ultrawide. The whole thing feels very polished. Love the ability to have a couple hotkeys to switch between workflows. A lot of people seem to love to complain about Microsoft when the newest Windows comes out. But I love Windows 11. I've had next to no problems and the UI is awesome. Nice looking native dark mode. Tabs in file explorer. I don't have to use a 3rd party command line tool because Terminal has gotten so much better over the years. Another neat feature I noticed recently is that it shows an icon for bluetooth devices in the bottom right to quickly mark if it's a controller, a speaker or headphones for example. There's so many nice little QoL features that Microsoft has added with 11 that it is finally feeling like a MacOS competitor form a design standpoint. I love just about everything about it and PowerToys boosts that even more.

I love this feature (I also have an ultrawide monitor). But after using almost all the other PowerToys feature, this is the FIRST time I've seen someone demonstrate how to actually use them. Thanks!
do you notice that fancy zone have one limitation , we can not set the resolution. I mean i have split the 4x4 then font are big like 720 on each area. every time i need to zoom out documents. its not easy
I'm trying this one from long time but don't know how to apply. You are the only one who explained this. Everyone straights into how to use but they forget how to apply first. Thank you, you made my life easier.
When I connected my laptop to a 34-inch ultrawide curved monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440p and a refresh rate of 180Hz as an extended monitor, everything appeared stretched and blurry with larger fonts. I aim to multitask efficiently without encountering stretching and blurriness, even when I resize windows for different applications. Can Fancy Zones address the stretched and blurry appearance on the extended 34-inch monitor? My laptop running Windows 11 doesn't display the 3440 x 1440 resolution. I'm seeking a solution to this blurriness issue and hope for your assistance. Many thanks.
Great videos and presentation style! Do you have a technique to only share a specific zone through Teams? I screenshare all day long and need to share multiple apps so I always use the Screen option. However, I recently upgraded to an ultrawide monitor and it seems as though there's no terribly elegant way to have a zone for all the apps I'm sharing and a non-shared zone for OneNote/Outlook on the same monitor.
I have a doubt regarding this program. First, I need to explain the reasons for why I want to use it. I basically want to create a secondary monitor without having one. Why? Because I need a second screen on the same monitor to use Chromecast as a second screen and use it with a video projector for video mapping. If someone know how to use Chromcast has a secondary monitor pls tell me.
Someone has to explain to me how a program CALLED WINDOWS, named after its windowed feature is the worst feature of windows. You turn on a monitor, theres no screen, oh windows decided to have it on a monitor thats not even turned on. Now you turn on that monitor and it jumps to the other monitor, then all your windows are resized, scattered, unreachable off of all monitors and you cant recall them. You open a game, its on the wrong monitor and and wrong resolution, I mean they dont even attempt to fix it.
When you share the web browser in Teams, you're selecting an app not a window. If you want to share something else like Excel, can to drop that in the same zone and will it be shared instead?
After all this hardwork...one reboot and its all gone....or it remembers each unique folder and where it should open when a folder icon is double clicked ?
Any recommendations how PPT in slideshow can be shared in zoom or webex using fancy zones, I am unable to figure that out yet as the moment i enter slide show while being within one fancy zone the whole 49 inch monitor gets shown.
I worry about that too, I always having trouble finisNice tutorialng anytNice tutorialng I try and create, but I figure if I do a little more each day, it'll get there one
Of the dozen or so videos on Fancy Zones I have seen, this was the most satisfying relative to what was presented. I understand there is additional functionality that binds a specific app to a specific zone. I wonder how Fancy Zones would behave if you have 2 or more virtual desktops that you covered in another video. .
Hi Ricardo. First of all, thanks for watching. Second, great question about virtual desktops. I just tested it myself, and it turns out that you CAN have different fancy zones applied to each virtual desktop.
Please consider a follow up demonstrating that functionality. I am pretty certain you would be the first person on RU-vid to do so. It would be useful to dive deeper into how you can make "permanent" the apps that are dropped into the zones, whether they are open or not. @@AndyPark365
Please fix this.. I'm trying to shrink my browser window but it has a limit, if I shrink the layout to its maximum length the window browser doesn't follow that and cuts the browser.
Can you default apps to specific zones, on my previous computer I have a software I downloaded so it can be told "outlook to the left column" Chrome to the right column and other apps in the center column ( I use the 3 column default on a 43" monitor, just hoping that's doable but if not, at least turning off "hold shift key" allows me to throw the apps around to the correct location
I am so glad this program allows me to utilize the keyboard shortcut to move the windows across my screen and snap it in a specific region of the screen or I can tweak it to my liking. Awesome program! Thank you for the video.
Very helpful video. Thanks. Perhaps it's been mentioned in previoius comments, but fiddling around while watching, I noticed that for a canvas layout, the cursor keys will move the entire canvas. Holding shift plus a cursor key will change the size by 10 pixels, and holding ctrl+shift plus a cursor key will change the size by 2 pixels.
this is perfect thanks, when you drag you window to top it gives you zone layout choice but i dont see customized zones on the choices is that possible ?
Is there a way in FancyZones to segment a certain zone so that when going full screen in the specific application (chrome in this case) it doesn't suddenly take over the entire monitor, but rather only expands to full size within the designated zone?
Andy: Further to our exchange(s) I have discovered the problem: a) The transparency was set invisibly high b) I believe closing The Editor needs to be stated, once the configuration selection has been made (in fact, adding a Cose button would help. An earlier iteration had 'Apply', which encouraged the same action. Thanks again for your help.
Thanks for explaining this. I was having a tough time trying to figure out just how to do a split screen and every other channel did not specify that you needed to highlight and drag them together. Was driving me nuts! Thanks again my friend.
Not a user friendly more for developers, probably packed too much stuff, like no balance screen without customization and holding like shift key to activate, why not just right click. LG screen split still the easiest and best.
Yep, I agree it's not the most user friendly - especially to setup initially. But once you configure it, it's quite simple to activate and use. And yes, some of the tools that the monitor manufacturers like LG provides is also good. Thanks for watching, and for the feedback.
