It's very hard to see which buttons you are pushing and when... The most important thing that everybody wants to know up front is "is there a Home button?" and "how do you get to the main "Time" face when you're at something else? There does not seem to be a Home button to me, to get to the time immediately from whatever other "page" I might be on... That's a huge flaw in this watch!
If you press and hold the back button you will get back to the home page. Now about the buttons, this is the most important you need to learn about that watch, and this is why I explain it at the very begening of the video. Once you get what each button do, it become very easy to navigate inside the watch and learn how to use it by yourself.
This is helpful and I appreciate your time to show us but please use just one finger on the watch. I have trouble telling if you are pressing with your right thumb or right index finger in a lot of this video.
Hi Joseph. Thank you for your comment. The most important part to understand is the first one where I explain the use of each button. It really is the most important one and this is why I begin with this one. Once you really get it, you won't even need to see where I press to do what I do. It will become obvious.
I was gifted this watch in barely used condition from a family member that upgraded for something triathlon specific. This was a great quick start for understanding the user interface. Thank you!
I like this watch. Seems like a normal watch. Though it does so much more. I'm able to see it in daylight and don't need to turn the screen on to see it. I just purchased this recently used, it didn't come with a manual so you helped me out. Thanks.
Horrible video. I couldn't tell which button he was pushing when as he had both hands on the watch at all times. And he just jumped arround seemingly without any logic and without explaining what he was doing. I am more confused than before watching this video!
That is why I start by explaining what the buttons do and how to navigate in the watch. So then it become obvious what button I am pressing. Just listen again the very beginning.
Bought this watch for super cheap private seller and I am so happy with it. Especially as an active person who hikes, runs, and also my line of work. If you have the cash, or find a deal... Buy it. They're other great Garmin's but for me this one is it.
I just bought an Instinct 2 watch to connect with a Woo device and record kite surfing session. Unfortunately Garmin instinct 2 says Garmin firmware bug waiting for resolution when trying to connect to device. Wrote Garmin, but 2 weeks without a reply, been searching online and can see a beta version 13.10 software upgrade might fix the problem, unfortunately cant sign into my Garmin account on my lap top which is required to make this software update. Says my email and password is incorrect but when using the same in mobile app i can log in no problem. Should have bought Apple
Garmin service is surely not the best. I don't know anything about Woo unfortunately. Usualy update are made directly on the watch when it's available or over night thrue the connection over the Garmin Connect App. Garmin have more than one service, I believe the account you are trying to connect on the phone and your computer is not the same.
Can the watch receive notifications? I missed my calls texts and alarms. I have generic DZ09 that is vibrating from anything in notifications including calls
The screen is only black and white. I think it depend of what you want. I didn't try the vivo active yet. But here is my full review of the instinct : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mX91PXRx_IM.html Enjoy.
This video was great! This watch is really awesome, I just wish the heart rate tracker was accurate. Mine is always at least 10-15 heart beats off of what my heart rate actually is.
Hey , to simply practice walking activity or running or interval training activity will you get this one or the Forerunner 45?! Which i already have Sir !! ;-) .. i'm asking that because i like the exterior of the Instinct and i thought of buying it ... BUT... maybe .. i think that for running and workout ... the Forerunner 45 it does have a more clear screen and better "on the fly" readeablility during activity or workout.. I am curious to read your opinion about that.. thank you from italy ..
Ahah. That is a good question. I really liked that instinct. My actual favorite watch is the tactix. I never tried yet the forerunner but I should receive my forerunner 55 and 945 this week. I will test it and review it. You will be able to see my review on this channel playlist : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LxL9EYGU430.html Cheers. 😉
Thank you for the overview, during the video I was wondering what functions this watch has, I am new in this and maybe doing that will add more engagement to people like me that are new in this, so first we know what it can do, and then we learn how to do it.
I never tried the solar model. Many people tell me that the solar is a very interesting model and that the battery almost never die. But technically yes they are the same. But like I told you, I never tested it yet. I just don't see the point of paying this much for a plastic watch. I mean at this price, I would put the little extra to get a Fénix. It got maps, it got more data on screen and it's a very beautifull watch.
hi, how are you? My name is Marcelo and live in Argentina. Im a long distance runner but i ´ve problems with the battery life of my Garmin Instinct; as you said in another tutorial, the battery life of this watch is 14 days, guest what.... in the last 2 ultramarathon, the battery of my watch didn´t pass 7 hours ... i do not why... could you indicate me an especific tutorial about how to fix that power problem?. Thank you so much.Greetings from ARGENTINA.
Well for sure there is no Garmin Watches, or no GPS watches at all that can get 14 days of GPS. That being said, for sure your watch should give you way more than 7 hours. I don't remember what was the charge of the first instinct but it was not huge. But there is some feature that you could look at to increase charge time. Blood oxygen reader, GPS precision, hr sensor, backlighting. You got an estimate of time before starting the activity. If it don't last the time of the estimate, you might have a trouble with the battery,
I can assure you that yes, you can receive messages from whatsapp, fb messenger, etc, even from snap chat. But if you want a quick reply, then it can only be used on the Android system, not the iOS system.
Thank you for the video! I don't understand which one is the "select" button. I was hoping you would cover that. I see how to go up and down, but when I see an option I want to select, which of all the buttons should I be pressing?
I just realised on day 2, the biggest omission is not labeling GPS as Select inside the bezel - that's the one that matters perhaps more than any other AND as exercises turn on GPS on/off automatically, so I may never need to use that button for it's GPS function.
Technically as a black pixel is on it would drain more in that state. But as it's an MIP screen, it will barely change anything. Here is a video that might interest you about that : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AQB7xg3ZRRk.html
Geez settings and settings and more settings and then the settings for the settings of setting them. Couldnt they just make phone app to do this all with ease?
Honestly I think it's pretty simple and I love the fact that everything is built in the watch. You don't have to use setting if you hate that. But just keep in mind that if you want to modify anything on any page, press and hold the ''up'' button. That's it.
This will depend on how you use the watch. There is many factor. Take a look at my review, I talk about the battery time : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mX91PXRx_IM.html But yes it got a rechargeable battery that you need to plug it in.
Hum. I would be happy to help you but I don't know what is a OS gris reference. You can get many type of grid position. You can see a bit more into that video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y-tkYAyp2C4.html That is on a tactic but it is very simillar.
I had to replace my VivoActive (because you can't replace the watch band) and Garmin support said the Instinct was the best upgrade. WAY too much menu diving. I HATE this goddamn watch.
Thanks for the videos! I have the "surf" edition and I'm trying to figure out what steps to take to activate "surfline sessions" when I go surfing? Any advice would be appreciated.
@@HowToPM ok thanks do u know how to see how much charge is on it it turned up today so working out how to set it up i may get fenix 6 or save for 7x down the line though ? many for more maps and it be good to see if there is a google map app to sync it to watch screen Do u know how many locations u can save on the instinct though as think memory is 16mb
That is a very good question and i will take the time to make a video about it. In the mean time, it's pretty much the same thing that on my Tactix except that at the end you will have no maps. Just a line on the screen. That video might help you : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cax0lRfBJJY.html
Me too. Too complicated. Followed the instructions in the Manuel. Not much help. Had a Garmin before this one, also with GPS. Worked great until it died. Bought this as a replacement. Followed the instructions as best I could to create a walk. I can't get it to shut off and buzzes on my wrist every km, even in the car. Fed up with it.
