What a great vid from the lady of Douentza, I have Cransbill for many years they never let you down , IN the middle of my hardy geraniums i have a Solamum seal with it lovely bell like cream flowers dropping over the geraniums, ty Rachel..Frank

I added Rozanne to my street project...they are delightfull and reliable ...bullet proof plants. The whole geranium family is nice ... they are heat and drought tolerant ...even dog tolerant. Proven winners. Enjoy your garden. best whishes from Flanders Marcus

I wonder if renardaii would grow well on a stream bank. Its foliage is so interesting.

Renardii is lovely, and I wonder if it may be less attractive to deer because of what appears to be rougher foliage? Those pesky things tend to enjoy snacking on my various other geraniums.

Apparently it's rabbit resistant but there's no mention of deer.

Hi, thank you for your video! There are two geraniums in your garden Anne Thomson and An Folkard. One is looking more in flowers. Which one is this? Thomson or Folkard? Also I thought Thomson is smaller but they look the same size.

I find Geranium 'Anne Thomson' more floriferous than Folkard. The flowers are bigger too..

So will I be able to plant other seeds next to my tulips and daffodils , ready to replace them ,when they die off next summer?

Geraniums are the best bet for covering bulb foliage. Other plants can do a good job too, such as annuals. Just don't plant anything on top of your bulbs! Daffodils are a different case. Small daffodils work well in borders but the foliage on large daffodils will swamp most adjacent plants and kill them. Hope this helps.

We have a large tree in the garden and everything within a metre radius around it seems to struggle, except the spring bulbs which were great. E.g. Nigella African Bride and Poppy seeds barely grew. I'm not sure if its the water/nutrients being taken by the tree, or the (partial) shade. But your comment on planting around bulbs got me thinking, could geraniums be the answer in this part of the garden?

Dry shade is the most difficult terrain for planting in. Moist shade, on the other hand, is excellent. Many geraniums do well in shade, Anne Thomson and Rozanne among them. Although the soil needs to be reasonable fertile and not parched. Hope this helps.

What size pots should you plant geraniums in ?

With nearly all plants, pot using the next size up from the rootball size.

Combien de temps met pour s’installer un géranium vivace plante en petit godet ? Les miens plantés il y a 2 ou 3 ans ne font toujours pas de belles touffes. Merci.

Si les conditions sont bonnes, votre géranium devrait être bien établi dans un délai de deux ans. Peut-être que le votre n'a pas assez de soleil, que il n'a pas assez d'espace ou qu'il a des difficultés avec le sol.

@@GardeningatDouentzaMerci. J’ai bien enrichi le sol et je le travaille, j’arrose, ils sont à mi ombre. Soleil matin et fin de journée en été car je les ai mis en sous bois.

@@francesca4966 Eh bien, Geranium magnificum tolère soi-disant la mi-ombre. Je ne sais pas quel pourrait être le problème. Vous vivez dans une région de France très ensoleillée et sèche que vous devez arroser régulièrement ? Normalement, je n’arroserais jamais les géraniums à partir de leur deuxième année. Pourriez-vous trop arroser ou peut-être que votre emplacement est trop chaud pour eux ? Sinon, je ne sais pas quoi dire.
