This is my first Teacher's Tech podcast. I much appreciate how you lead us around all the necessities of Hangout (withholding the 'Receiving calls' parts which is available in US only - but I don't mind because I'm also from Canada). A thorough walkthrough done in a professional manner. Many thanks! BTW, just an observation. I'm an amateur photographer and I would just like to inform you that it is illegal to use a photograph, like you did in the background, from Trey Radcliff unless you've got his signed permission. By the laws, just citing the name of the author does not render it legal. The legal way of using a photograph in a video podcast, without an infringement of copyright - without consent, is using it for what is called "Fair Use" and this does not apply here - because in such a case it would be use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research - all of this pertinent with the showed photograph of course (which was not the case here). But you may have Terry's permission, I don't know. But if you don't I would just advise to be careful in your future podcast. Wouldn't want to lose you - because I really like this podcast and I subscribe to the channel in the hope of finding more goodies. Cheers!

Do all the people that want to join a planned video hangout need the App? Do they need App and Gmail account? Or can it be...the person starting the hangout needs the app...and just use any email and invite without them all having the app/Gmail.

Ho Laura, I believe it is just the person setting up the mtg, like my principal did with us. He emailed us a link to get on his hangout page. We have a mtg. This Thurs. am. If you have FaceTime ( a camera), it will work.

I have an unlocked LG Pheonix 3 phone on H2O wireless. It is an AT&T phone. AT&T woun't let you make a wifi call through them. But you can with Hangouts. In the APPs under settings make sure the settings in hangouts has the microphone turned on. I spent a few hours trying to make a call and was getting the message about the app needed the microphone.

It is really an informative video but I think it will become more useful if there is an addition of showing screen and recording sessions of a video call. For a teacher, it is useful not only to show other slides or worksheets but also to record it as an offline instruction for other learners.

I do have iPhone an iPad too, I’m just learning this, I also have a computer but i android computer, I wants to delete a person off my iPhone phone,an iPad, do I has to get on the computer first, or can I deleted from iPhone,iPad? Thanks for making things a little clearer for me. You mentioned being able to put the Google hangouts icon on the dock, but did not show how. Might you also demonstrate how to open chat while in a video call by clicking the chat bubble, to the lower left side, and show how to open the chat up, to show the conversation during the call? I'm speech impaired, and using the chat during the call allows me to type my side, while the other person talks. Having a video i could send others of the how to open up this up to see my words would help when first making contact with me in Google Hangouts. Thanks.

Hi - great video. Can you tell me how to delete the list of names and numbers from the phone call section of Hangouts? There doesn't seem to be anything in settings that allows me to do this. If I were to completely delete the hangouts app and then reinstall it, would that take care of it? Thanks for your help.

This was a great tutorial. Than you! FYI - Hangouts On-Air has significantly changed! You have to go through RU-vid now and you can't add people. I would update this video.

Fine presentation . . . as always. Hangouts also solves a problem of Skype not working on older tablets using Android 4.2.2 (blank sign-on screen).

question: i know for group messages/chatrooms once you leave others can still view the history of the group chatroom but what about personal messaging? once you leave a personal message thing will the other person be able to see what was said?

Thats real cool, but i am thinking about switching from google voice, and my contacts are not in hangouts. Is there a way to get all of my contacts from my google phone to hangouts? Not everyone deals with hangouts, but i may want to call them from hangouts and i dont want to search, i just want them to show up when i hit contacts, and select them from the list.

I use a program called ScreenFlow on my mac ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b9Wxxu753xE.html I also use a different program called Camtasia (WIndows and Mac) There are free options out there but these programs work very easily and have a lot more options.

A while after I text a person, a little circle with a lighter shade of their profile picture appears beside my message. And it becomes more clear after a few moments. And then the person types and I receive their message. Now, does the lighter shade of their profile picture mean that they received my message? And does the clearer picture mean they read it? I don't think so, because sometimes the circles don't appear even though I receive their message after a while

+Teachers Tech Do you know if there is a bug on Hangouts? My devices do not get notifications when I get a message. I have a Nexus 5X, Nexus 7(2013) and a Chromebox and sometimes I will get a notification on one device but not the other two.

Thanks. Great video. My experience is that there is a good amount of time lag both for video and the audio to the extent of 10 seconds or more from the live on my screen to the viewers screen. Any solutions?
