Learn how to use slab and hump(or drape) and slump molds to make amazing ceramic bowls and platters. This tutorial is a perfect step by step guide for pottery beginners or someone looking to brush up their skills. I walk through different types and materials of molds as well as the drawbacks and strengths of each. I also demonstrate how to use coils to construct another awesome style of bowls and platters.

This video was almost over...I started to 'like' it, when I saw I had already done that...a year ago. LOL!!!! And it's still a good video. Hope all is well with you, I'm betting it is. In my 'mind's eye - saw you teaching a class. You had the camera in the back so the students were in it too. I betcha there's folks that'd love to participate. 😉

@@benjamin.cahoon If I had ANY space to set something up I would, in a heartbeat. I used to play with clay as a child. I do a bunch of different mediums. My entire apartment looks like just a studio, with a bed to sleep. I can only have one person over because I only have one folding chair aside from the chair I sit in at my workstation... Honestly though I am kind of surprised I didn't investigate some form of clay work - Ceramics, Sculpting - something because of how into it I was as a child. I saved it my allowance, walked to the art store, and bought my own clay. I would sit at the breakfast table and work for hours. Kids that age usually have the attention span of a gnat.

Hi Ben - is there a form or way that you can make uniform balls of clay that isn't by hand pinching and rolling? I am trying to find an ergonomic alternative for a process at work and I am trying to automate it, if possible. The balls around 3/4" in diameter. Thanks in advance!
