In this masterclass, we're going to take a look at Apple's iWork power apps starting with the Fundamentals and underlying Paradigms. Understanding these will help you gain access to the full potential of these apps and allows you to make them work together as power tools for your projects.
After these we will enter Numbers to understand the universal UI principles and see how all of the iWork apps can work together to become even stronger.

Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.

Thanks for this detailed video. I would like to add ne thing about file versioning. Namely on, iPadOS/iOS file versioning only works for files installed on iCloud Drive.
@patrickstoeckmann
@patrickstoeckmann 11 месяцев назад
You are right. Versioning in the Files app only works for iCloud. However, if you have another provider (like OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive) that supports versions, you can still access the older versions, just not through the files app. With OneDrive, as an example, you have to use the web client for that. Local files though have no versions, but I highly recommend most people not to store their documents locally, unless they know how to backup those (and do it regularly).

I am trying to convert as much of my work to my iPad as possible as my laptop is a PC, but I much prefer using my iPad. I don’t want to get a Mac because I use 2 programs that have no equivalent in Mac and are necessary to my work. But so much can be done on my iPad if I just get the hang of these basic programs. Very much looking forward to the rest of the series.
@patrickstoeckmann
@patrickstoeckmann Год назад
Well you could try using icloud.com in your browser on your windows machine. While it hasn't 100% of the functionality of the Mac apps, it is quite capable. Alternatively you can open AND save Word, Excel and Powerpoint files in Pages, Numbers and Keynote. While some formatting might get lost, this could be an option for you. I actually found Pages, Numbers and Keynote way better on the iPad than their Microsoft counterparts Word, Excel and Powerpoint when it comes to feature parity.

@@patrickstoeckmann , thank you for the suggestions. The 2 programs I use are not part of the Apple or Microsoft eco-systems. They are very specialized. One is a writing program, and I use it instead of Word because it is so much easier and more intuitive for what I need. Plus I’ve used it since I got my first computer almost 30 years ago (it is what Word wishes it was) I can practically make it dance. The other is a very narrowly specific design program that has no equivalent anywhere that I can find. But - I am eager to learn how Keynote can replace PowerPoint, and I’ve already begun transferring my Excel usage to Numbers. So maybe there is hope for me, even at age 73. 😉

You can put all of those objects in Excel, PLUS make games.
@patrickstoeckmann

Excel is great for certain kind of tasks - especially on a desktop. The iPad app is much more limited though (you can‘t script it like you do on a PC). And the fundamental difference that it is table centric first still applies. You can‘t have multiple table objects on 1 sheet nor can you have a sheet without a table.

Your content is really opening my eyes to Numbers. I dismissed Numbers in the past because I didn't realise there's more to it than tables. However, even with tables, it always annoyed me that I couldn't use it in a way that I use Kanban apps like Trello - the ability to swap cells. Even Excel offers this. Amazingly I recently discovered a trick. Numbers normally limits tables to a minimum of 2 columns, however I learnt if you drag the column number out, it separates into a single table. Lining up duplicates of these single column tables together, Numbers becomes a kanban tool. Amazingly when scaling a single table, the adjacent tables move with it. I can now swap cells from one [table] column to another by dragging the table number and I can swap cells within the column itself without messing up data on the same row (because they're actually part of a different table). Example template: www.dropbox.com/s/ekdt3i0gcoljn09/Kanban.nmbtemplate?dl=0 Unfortunately you can't swap a single column between tables unless you add an additional column within the table, but typically Kanban users aren't swapping columns around anyway.
@patrickstoeckmann
@patrickstoeckmann Год назад
Oh you can absolutely use it like a Kanban board. You can easily create a single column table by setting the header column to 0 (and if you want to you can even make it a 1 cell table if you set the header row also to 0). Then I create my Kanban lanes with each one being a table. By selecting the row number with tap and hold I can then drag every cell from ne table to another. @@patrickstoeckmann Maybe on iOS, but on macOS, Numbers limits the default table to a minimum of 2 columns. Which is why I was so glad I found this trick.
@patrickstoeckmann
@patrickstoeckmann Год назад
@@MikaEfrat1 Actually no. I just tried and you can create a 1 column or 1 row or even 1 cell table in Numbers on the Mac. You just have to make sure that you set all header rows and columns to 0. By default the table has 1 header column and that is why you can't create 1 column tables from the default table object.
