Well, you could try a mineral sunscreen with silicone, such as NIOD 30, or maybe consider The Ordinary sunscreens. Although I can't guarantee their performance under extreme conditions, based on their formulations, they should work much better for your needs.

Hello, i was wondering if this order was any good... Morning: 1. Cleanser 2. Exfoliating toner 3. Hydration spray 4. Eye cream 5. Serum 6. Moisturizer Evening: 1. Cleanser 2. Toner 3. Retinol ( once every 3 days, will use more often after a month) 4. Eye cream 5. Moisturizer 6. Face mask once/twice a week Is there any order you would change here?

If you don't provide me with the exact product name, it's difficult for me to offer specific assistance since there are numerous possibilities. However, the order seems a bit unusual.

I see. Well in morning: 1. CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser 2. Naturium BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% 3. Maria Badescu facial spray 4. Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff 5. Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate 6. CeraVe daily moisturizer For evening: 1. CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser 2. Thayers witch hazel toner 3. Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Serum (once every 3 days) 4. Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff 5. CeraVe daily moisturizer 6. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque once/twice a week Any order or even product you would change?

@@zbuilder4664 It depends. Have you already tried the routine? If so, how is it going? Or why did you ask me? As for the layering, the order seems to be correct, although the facial spray after the exfoliant looks a bit odd.

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I just started using it like a day ago, and I'm asking you because I want to know the best way to use it/make it as effective as possible, but ik it can vary between people (why would facial spray after exfoliating toner be odd just curious)
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
@@zbuilder4664 I believe that the facial mist could interact with the exfoliant, leading to an excessive amount of water on the skin. This might dilute the exfoliant and specifically cause sensitivities. Therefore, I suggest using it before the BHA, waiting for it to absorb, and then applying the BHA, tapping off any excess. Additionally, you're using a cleanser for dry skin but most of your other products are more suitable for oily skin. You might want to consider changing the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser to the Foaming Cleanser. Also, the lotion might not be the best option. I would recommend a light gel like The Ordinary's Natural Moisturising Factors + HA or G&G Hydration Station. Morning routine: CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser Mario Badescu Facial Spray (Wait for it to absorb, then tap off any excess.) Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream CeraVe Daily Moisturizer or Sunscreen (Depending on your day-to-day lifestyle, but avoid prolonged unprotected sun exposure.) For evening: CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser (Optional) Thayers Witch Hazel Toner Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Serum (Use once every 3 days.) (Optional) CeraVe Daily Moisturizer (Not sure if you really need this.) For evening when not using the mask or retinol: CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser Pat dry BHA Exfoliant Wait 1-2 minutes Moisturizer Evening routine when using the mask: CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser Pat dry and wait 5 minutes for the skin to fully dry Apply The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque Pat dry Apply moisturizer

Hey! :) What moisturizer do you use? The Ordinary Rosehip Seed Oil and/or Moisturizer can be too rich for your skin type. The Snail Essence can be hydrating enough. Do not use your Salicylic Acid Cleanser and Leave-On Salicylic Acid product in the same routine. Using both in the same routine and doing this ongoing can dry out the skin or even lead to over-exfoliation. I recommend doing it like this: AM: - SA Cleanser - Essence - Niacinamide - Sunscreen PM: - SA Cleanser - (Optional) Essence - Ceramide Serum - (Optional) Rosehip Oil - (Optional) Moisturizer or AM: - SA Cleanser or Non-Exfoliating Acid Cleanser - Essence - Niacinamide - Sunscreen PM: - Non-Exfoliating Acid Cleanser - Salicylic Acid - (Optional) Essence - Ceramide Serum - (Optional) Rosehip Oil - (Optional) Moisturizer You can change the order of your Niacinamide and Ceramide Serums step with the Essence step.

Haha, yes, depending on the algorithm, you might now think you're missing out on something... 😏 Did you choose them based on your skin type? Often, the cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen are where people make the most mistakes, especially if they're new to skincare. So, I'm curious about which products you chose and what your skin type is 🤔 But the order would be: AM: Cleanser Moisturizer (when not exposed to the sun) Sunscreen (when outdoors) PM: Cleanser Retinol or Vitamin C serum (alternate days) That's essentially it 😉

Hey Melissa another great video as usual! Few weeks before you suggested me a skincare routine, have been doing it ever since, my skin is reacting well, so thanks a lot! I had another question for you, will be grateful if you could answer. Currently im using Neutrogena ultrasheer dry touch spf 50 sunscreen, but its not the best for reapplication as its too creamy and with the indian heat and sweating it becomes a mess. I am interested in using a spray sunscreen for reapplication, do you have any recommendations and tips?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
Hey! :) I haven't tried spray sunscreens therefore I can not talk about my personal experience or share any tips😔 I just would say - do not get it into your eyes. How often do you reapply your current sunscreen? How much sun exposure do you have?
@shubhamawati62
@shubhamawati62 Год назад
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial The only sun exposure i have is when I leave my house in the morning for work, after that most of the time is spent in front of the screen, so I apply 15 min before leaving the house and then 2 hours after the first application that's it. But I'm always indoors and I did not apply the second application everyday due to too much sweat or not getting time due to work, also because I feel weird touching my face again if the proper washroom facility to clean my hands and a mirror is not available for reapplication. That's why the spray sunscreen (can consider sunscreen stick too) felt like a good option. On weekends I have a lot of sun exposure as I spend a decent amount of time outdoors. Also any recommendations for treating blackheads on the nose and chin area? Thanks for the reply!🙏🏼
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
Indeed, as I've mentioned in my video, you might not need to reapply sunscreen often since you're mostly inside. The need to put on more sunscreen depends on what you do daily and how long you're out in the sun. The usual advice to reapply sunscreen every two hours really applies when you're out in the sun a lot, after swimming or heavy sweating, when you've wiped it off, or when you're near reflective surfaces like water or snow. In these cases, it's good to put on more sunscreen every 2 hours or even more often. However, it's key to adjust this to what suits you. For you, it would mainly be on the weekends. Avoid putting on too much sunscreen as it can pile up during the day and lead to using up an entire bottle in one day. Consider getting a light fluid sunscreen to see how it works, or try the ones I often recommend in my video - the COSRX Aloe Soothing Suncream and NIOD Survival 30. The latter could be perfect for you, but it's quite expensive in some countries. Otherwise, you really have to try different sunscreens to find what works best for you. You can also look online in forums like Reddit to see what real people say about them, as reviews are often altered to make sales.

Thank you so much for your videos. They've helped me to make good decisions about what skin care to use.🤗 Have you heard of or tried any Beekman1802 skin care products? If so, could we please get a video? Also, I was wondering what you think about putting skin care products in a refrigerator. Thank you for your time💕
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
No, I'm not familiar with that. Have you had the chance to try them out? Generally speaking, refrigeration can be beneficial for Retinol and Vitamin C products. However, for most skincare products, it's not necessary unless you're living in a country where temperatures consistently exceed 25 degrees Celsius. I'm aware that many of my viewers, for instance, are based in India where such conditions are common. In these circumstances, storing skincare products in the fridge can help to extend their shelf life and maintain their efficacy. However, do note that certain formulations may not respond well to cold temperatures.

@Melissa Van Dijk I've tried the Beekman 1802 Milkshake toner. It's OK, but I don't think it's worth the $34 I paid for it. I'll stick with my rose mist🥰 Thank you for the frig info. Thanks again for all you do💕 Have an awesome week!🤗

@@savannahd1457 Yes, that is most often the issue. Also, for La Roche-Posay products, although I like their formulations a lot, some are just not worth the expense anymore. The cheaper alternatives are often just as good or even better in many cases.

I bought la rosay vit c online... When I received its colour is dull yellow... Is it safe to use?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 11 месяцев назад
That's the question. I've seen it turn dark yellow and even orange. If its color is slightly like what I showed in the video, then it should be safe to use. However, if it changes color significantly, it has oxidized. Still, often companies claim that it remains effective.

@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
Yes, reapplying sunscreen can be a good idea, especially if you believe it has been rubbed off, or perhaps even once a day to ensure full protection. However, I wanted to clarify this because many people tend to reapply every two hours, even when it's not necessary. Most people I interact with in my comment section simply reapply because the guidelines suggest doing so, even though they spend most of their day indoors, not exposed to UV radiation. The point is that people should avoid reapplying sunscreen unnecessarily, as it can result in a thick layer throughout the day and may cause them to use up a whole bottle in a single day. I think I'll clarify this even further in my upcoming videos. :)

Yes, sadly, the marketing is not good, but also, the guidelines they put on sunscreen are not as effective as they could be. I believe they need to be adjusted as they are suitable for individuals with significant sun exposure, but not for those who spend most of their day indoors, at school, or at work. However, that is how many people are using sunscreen nowadays. So, yes, be sun smart! 🙃

Hey melissa darling, I have a question but I need to give you a little background to my current problem. I was on Accutane and I had a very bad allergic reaction and my dermatlogist prescribed me a steroid and I kept having reoccurring reactions at that time and every time I kept using that cream but it definitely left me with a lot of side effects. I stopped using it for a very good while now ( as of months ) but I still encounter redness and red patchy scars around my upper cheeks area ( skin of cheeks underneath my eyes ) , I have recently started using retinol 0.3 again and my skin is tolerating it , should I add vit C as well to help with this concern or what should I do exactly ? thank you ❤
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
Hey again! :) I'm sorry to hear about your bad reaction while taking accutane😞 So, you're saying that the irritated area becomes sensitive from time to time? If that's the case, it's always a guessing game to what skincare products you're skin is going to react. Also, the type of Vitamin C you want to choose can play a significant role as well. What Vitamin C product do you want to use? I think that using Vitamin C Derivative like The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution is less likely to irritate the skin any further.
@khouloudkasmi5946
@khouloudkasmi5946 Год назад
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much ❤ well it doesn't get sensitive from time to time but I guess because of the steroid cream it has become more sensitive and prone to redness but especially in the ones that I've mentioned to you where the allergy was mainly spread in , I can notice redness and I'm not sure if it's hyperpigmentation because it definitely gets redder when my face gets hot and I want to treat this issue and I didn't know where to start ..

@@khouloudkasmi5946 You may be able to tolerate LRP Vitamin C serum because it doesn't have such a low pH compare to Paula's Choice, Geek & Gorgeous, Timeless, etc...otherwise look into a Vitamin C derivative. Have you already tried calming and soothing products? Does the red area get warm/hot from time to time?
@khouloudkasmi5946
@khouloudkasmi5946 Год назад
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I've only been using calming products for the past months ( snail mucin, lrp dermallergo cream, cicaplast baume b5 etc ) if you mean rosacea after using the steroid cream during that period and a little after I would say yes, I would have some flare ups but it's been a good while I did not have this issue but the redness is definitely bothering me , you know when you have post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne and when the face gets hot or red it becomes more and more apparent ? that's the case but it's not acne it's an area from the top of nose/corner of eyes , the cheeks right under my eyes
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
Ok, I just wanted to know how sensitive or, let's say, reactive your red area may be. Because if it still "heats up" from time to time, using products that are quite acidic can cause sensitivities. On the other hand, when using creams that are too rich and create a strong seal on the uppermost layer of the skin, they can trap heat and, therefore, make the inflammation worse. As I mentioned, you can try a Vitamin C serum to heal the damage. Just make sure that it's not too acidic or too strong (15% or higher)...I also would suggest using La Roche Posay Cicaplast Gel instead of their Baume.
