It's unbelievable that what we call now "miracle product" is just what my grandparents used to use for decades for EVERYTHING. It's so simple, natural and cheap as hell ! Great video to promote it, greetings from France !
This is a great soap. I used it for everything , even my hair. I use mine with a Moroccan washing mitt. I was checking Amazon to buy one and I was amazed at the number of soaps called Savon de Marseille but they are fakes! To get an authentic one, I had to check the internet and got one from Marius Fabre and it is how I also discovered this video. So if you want to buy a bar or a bloc, check the ingredients. It shouldn’t be more than than 6 ingredients and even less the better and no long names. I love Marseille soap. Thank you ❤
Great videos, and thank you for what you are doing. Here in France I can buy Marseille Soap practically anywhere, usually packaged in its customary plastic wrapper :) There has been a resurgence of interest for this simple yet powerful product in the recent years.
wow I just found your channel and have been subscribed to many other zero waste youtubers so I am subscribing now. I dislike the idea of buying several separate products that could just be bought with one thing. So this soap is a life saver. Another thing, I'm thinking of using straight razor as an alternative to razors that require buying monthly blades. I think this could be a good conversation starter because it goes beyond the gender it is marketed to.
Glad you like the video and marseille soap - it's honestly a game changer! Not sure I'd be able to make the switch to a straight razor, scary... safety razors are definitely much better already and the blades are recyclable but I know what you mean. Why not give it a go!
Thank you for a very informative video. I've just discovered this soap myself in, of all places, TKMax! I'm trying to get an idea though of which manufacturers produce the authentic Marseilles soap, which I would presume is most likely to be the proper versatile version. I have recently bought two different makes. I spotted a couple of 300g blocks in TKMax on sale, going for £2 each. Those are from La Cigale. One of those is Olive and smells a bit like Palmolive soap, is that what yours smells like? I use this soap in the shower. I also bought a 600g block of "Fer a Cheval" soap from an online store called Chateau Du Savon, that cost £10 including delivery - i've just done some dishes with that this morning, and it seems more authentic, but quite expensive to buy and have delivered. So I would be interested to see a list of manufacturers, sellers and costs, if you know of a link to something like that. I might even try putting a list together myself as I think the provenance of this stuff is quite important.
Hi Paul - thanks for your comment. I'm using the soap that we stock in our eco-friendly shop. It comes from Savonnerie du midi in France, is made with organic olive oil and costs £7. We're a small business supporting other small businesses and the bar is massive, it will last ages! Personally I always prefer to support small independents than the big corps :) I hope that's helpful!
Do you have a specific recipe with the amount of the ingredients for the laundry liquid? And how much do you need for a full laundry? Is it suitable for both white and color clothes?
Hi Dimana! I use a measuring cup from an old laundry detergent bottle - I'd say it's roughly 1 cup of laundry detergent per wash. You can add more or apply the soap directly onto clothes if they are particularly dirty. You can use it for both white and colour, the bicarbonate of soda works to brighten colours and whiten whites. The ingredients and measurements are in the description :)
@@LifeBeforePlastic Well I've been using it for a week or so. I love it! I'll certainly be getting more at some point. Love your vids. Have a good weekend
How much gram would you dissolve in water for hand wash? I’ve just discovered it, and I bought the solid soap bars instead of the pre shaved packages. I’ve been deleting 15 grams of the soap bar in 5L of water, but it feels like it’s far to concentrated. 😅
Do you mean 150g? Because 15g definitely shouldn't be too concentrated! I would start with small quanitites (especially if you're just using standard water). Try 50g in 250ml and keep slowly adding water until you're happy with the consistency. I find hand soap especially to be personal preference!
I use it for everything too, but there are so many counterfeits when it comes to traditional Marseille soap, so be careful which one you buy! I get mine directly from France off the official website.
Hi Anita, it’s fully multipurpose so can be used for skin & hair too. Personally I use a shampoo bar specifically for my hair type but Marseille soap will clean your hair. The oils will also be good for hydration. Best thing to do is give it a go! If it’s not effective for your hair there are lots of alternatives you can use it for ☺️
Hi yes it does - it’s a great naturally cleaning alternative so you don’t have to use harmful chemicals. We stock it here if you’re interested in giving it a go! www.lifebeforeplastik.com/collections/eco-friendly-cleaning-products/products/marseille-soap-bar
Glad to hear you like it. It’s a shame you bought it from Amazon, our small UK business also stocks it for the next time you run out! www.lifebeforeplastik.com/collections/eco-friendly-cleaning-products/products/marseille-soap-bar
Nooooo!!! Do not use soap in the washing machine, detergent and soap are 2 different formulas, and modern washing machines aren't equipped for soap. Eventually it will cause build up in your clothes and they will not be clean. It's good for everything else in this video
Hi! You can buy this from our small uk business, here: www.lifebeforeplastik.com/collections/eco-friendly-cleaning-products/products/marseille-soap-bar
Definitely. I have had all my life sporadic skin problems in between seasons, like eczema, mainly hair. I discovered this soap recently and is helping a lot, really. Try and see how it goes :)
Does anybody know the real family run company i can buy this from? I know loads of fakes of this are shipped in from India i want to support the real company and family in France were it's made.
The one we sell on my website comes from the French producer: www.lifebeforeplastic.co.uk/collections/eco-friendly-cleaning-products/products/marseille-soap-bar
Lots of marseille soaps around that uses palm oil, whose plantations ruin the Amazonian Forrest. The most important place on our earth. Please consider Aleppo soap, it’s shares all the great qualities but never contains palm oil
Hello, can you tell me a bit about that? How often do you wash your hair with it? Doesn't is dry your hair out? How does your hair feel after you have washed it with the soap? Thank you for your answers!!!
