Excellent video. Thanks. I used these fittings when I replaced a hot water heater. The copper lines running from the water heater to my geo-therm unit were soldered and I had to cut them as well as one plastic line. While these connectors are relatively easy to use, your instructions were much clearer than those on the package and made it a great deal easier and quicker. The Crescent wrench trick came in handy a couple of times since I didn't pick up one of their extractors. Thanks again.

excellent invention !!! Installed one a year ago (ball valve) to the line going to the outside faucet. So easy ! Now you've given a reason to swap the cold and hot lines to our bathroom shower. I can easily have acces through the suspended ceiling. Someone mistakenly soldered the wrong temp. (Not me :-))

The new generation pushfit fittings are boon to the plumbing. They avoid leakages even done by a non professional and very easy and quick. Even they are bit expensive but the time saved is cost saving in labor and in equates. Very useful and informative.

I'm a huge fan of these especially the SB brand itself, I've used them in many situations from main lines to stops. I really like the stops as they look great, are ball valves and if you're replacing an old one they can push on to most types of pipe material. Many people like to complain about the O-ring seal but no one ever complains about the rubber seal in a braided supply line... or in a faucet. An o-rings longevity comes down to design and material, if the right material is used for the fluid it's carrying there's no problem. In the case of these, they're designed for chlorinated water and they carry warranties usually between 25 and 50 years(I think Probite has a 75-year). With all that said and the fact that they're code approved most everywhere, IMO the only down side is cost but it's made up with ease of installation. A little tip with them too: If you're working with old Polybutylene pipe, you don't necessarily have to use a transition fitting. You can use any type of regular fitting as long as you've got a PB-type pipe insert. The only difference between PEX and PB is the ID of the pipe, if you can get and install a PB pipe insert, you can use any of the push fits with it.

Thanks buddy, you answered my question about using the push fit with PEX. I wasn't sure if the inner sleeve needed to be inserted into the PEX first and I saw no way to remove it, but your video made the installation a breeze.

Thanks for this video! We had to move a shower head down because our shower guy put it 6'5" high. The tile guy did his work and the plumber did not show. I was able to use this video to see how easy it was to shorten the pipe myself. Project is moving forward again.

These new pipe fitting are the "Bomb!" for the DIY people. Thanks to those engineering whom comes up with these new designed. It may cost a little bit more it's all worth the extra $$

I have arthritis and it can hurt like hell using the little tool to release the fittings. Instead I just use an open end wrench. Much easier, probably already have it and a lot less likely to lose it. Also if there is something you have to disconnect periodically I put a large custom made washer on the pipe to use as a permanently installed tool. I made mine out of aluminum and deburred sharp edges. I use these on my water filters because it is much easier for me to change out the whole housing than just the filter..

Thank you for very helpful video. I bought a house a year ago and my house pipe is Uponor AquaPEX 1" pipe. I would like to install Wilkin 1" pressure reducing valve. My plan is cut pipe and use two SharkBite U140LFA 1" adapter (push fitting) to connect Wilkin 1" Pressure reducing Valve. Do you think these will work? Do I need Deburring tool(Cash Acme U702A Shark Bite Deburring and Depth Tool) to prep my existing AquaPEX pipe before push into the Sharkbite adapters? Do you recommend any other push fitting adapter?

Hi, I like your videos. I want to replace my dip tube. I'm a first time plumbing guy. My hot water heater doesn't have a shut off valve, not that I can see. I live in a condo. I'm assuming the cold water pipe is the one that's not hot. The hot water pipe has two faucet valves attached to it. The cold pipe does not. How would I turn off the water to prevent a water disaster? Thanks!

I am planning to move my bathroom sink plumbing 4-5 feet to the side at 90 degrees and I am not sure how to tee into the existing copper lines? My plan was to tee into the copper pipes with Sharkbite and run PEX pipes to the new spot. Can compression tee fitting be used inside the wall? Compression vs Sharkbite vs Copper tee? please help

I use those to connect my water heater 2 years ago. Today, one connexion gave up... I found out the leak about 5 hours later. The water spill out everywhere in the garage. It was not broken...just disconnect. Any idea about what might happened? Thanks.

Would this type fitting be good if I need to extend the PEX pipe coming out of wall under sink so I can add PEX pipe for a new shutoff valve. I need to remove old ACOR shutoff valves and there may not be enough clean PEX pipe to work with. Trying not to cut open drywall to extend pipe.

You're like me, you like to keep a pie close by (upper cubby hole over your left shoulder). But seriously, I didn't think I could learn anything from this video, but I was wrong! I've only seen one of these fittings leak and I think it was because the guy that installed it didn't cut the pex square before he pushed it in. Or the fitting was defective, I never got an explanation. It was a very slow leak.

I have a garden valve on the side of my home and want to connect to another valve that fills my pool(its 5 ft away from each other). Can i do that?(using push connect fittings) There's a valve in the front of my home that supplies my pool now, I had to shut it if off because its galvanized and leaking. in length it about 20 to 30 feet, from the front to back of my home. What I would like to is put a T , to accomplish this project. Help

If you're trying to weld water pipe that could be the problem. Soldering on the other hand, might work better. Maybe where you're from soldering is called welding? I like to solder, it's magical the way the solder chases the heat (if you do it right) but that's just me. But I also like push and compression fittings because they solve a lot of problems where soldering isn't practical.

Hello, for cpvc do I have to remove the plastic insert piece inside of the push fit union?

Hey Shannon, I was trying to get an expert opinion about Pex pipes being potable. I have read a few articles and they had said that over time the chemicals found in the water disappear, but is it safe to drink?

Shannon, just re-plumbed my older house (think galvanized pipe) w/ some CPVC and Watts fittings. Probably put in 20 to 25 fittings of various types on both half and three-quarter lines. Two of them dripped, one a 3/4, 3/4 to 1/2 Tee on the 1/2 section, and a 1/2 to 1/2 elbow. The first, the Tee, slowly quit leaking after 2 to 3 days w/ NO intervention. The 2nd, the elbow, leaked less and less each time I tried to fix it (2 times total). Disassembled joint and fitting, flushed w/ water, and used a new piece of pipe but still leaked - but less. Now, after I left it alone (8 - 10 hours) it to seems to be healing itself too. But it still seeps a little bit, just not fast enough to drip. Its weird to me - have not got a clue as to why. Any ideas? (Yes alignment is pretty good - no bending or twisting of the pipes.)

So, does the white plastic thing have to come out?

Shannon It appears that on the package for push fittings was not clear to use the white plastic insert when inserting Pex. Thus I did not use them. Now what. The connections are working so do I need to dismantle all of it and do it over. One other thing is that the dismantle tool appears really hard to work like you need to be superman to use it. Hi would this go over a 90 degree copper? Would the 90 angle copper be long enough? I have to join one that is buried behind a ceramic wall. I only can see the 90 degree copper impossible to heat up unless I rip the tiles off

Could the rubber o ring inside the push-joint deteriorate after a long time?
