Yeah, some people want curls however, big hot rollers are for that 90s blowout big hair volume. Some people just want smoothing volume and lift they don’t want curls.

Ten years on from when you created this video.... I just watched it, took mental notes (hair into divisions, lots of hair spray!!), and created a fabulous "do" for my 93 yr old mum - using her 1950's rollers & pins - during lockdown here in Melbourne, Australia. Thank You! We made her day!

From experience....do NOT use these type of rollers for fine hair. I got them stuck in my hair and it hurt like hell getting them out.

This wasn't the best curling method. You shouldn't brush your hair after you've curled it, even that gently. If it doesn't create frizz at first, it'll create it as the day goes on. Trust me. & I don't see any volume at all. You should have used smaller rollers.

Yeh the technique was great but the rollers were too big for her length of hair and her hair is fine so in 2-3 hours if she's even lucky that hair will lose all and if any curl lol..personally I prefer curling with a curling iron and setting the hair in with pin curls..hair lasts much longer..

i love the result! it gives a nice clean vintage look on long hair. I am surprised with the negative comments. i personally know i can't achieve that look with a blowdrier. so i really appreciate this tutorial. Thank you! i would probably need shoulder surgery if i was doing blowouts like these! love rollers!! 😍 thank you.

Hair should have been set wet and not dry. Plus, there was too much hairspray. After curling, put her under a regular dryer. At the end, the hair looked flat and she looked miserable. Too much gunk on her hair. This video was a waste of time watching.

When the before pic looks better than the end result.... Wasn't her hair already curled at the ends when he started? I feel like this took those curls OUT, not put any IN 😂😩 and since when do we use hairspray on dry hair with rollers? You want damp hair for those actually trying to learn the right way to do curls. 😒

I'm a hairdresser myself and brushing it out is a technique used to relax the hair. The point of using valcro rollers for curling (you can use them to straighten too) is to achieve a subtle soft curl and volume as shown :) if your interested in getting tighter curls, look at tutorials using either a wet set, hot rollers (although this is still fairly soft and not recommended for all hair types) or a curling wand/ghd :)

1974Coconut,,,We had the same tube and cap in the 70's, (sounds like what you are talking about) but it hooked to a hair dryer that set on your dressing table... This one looks like it would burn up your blow dryer...

Living in the "age of the flat iron", people kind of scoff at rollers now. "Rollers are for grandmas!" Well, the thing about irons (curling irons, flat irons) is they're direct heat, which causes damage over time (i.e., split ends!) So, actually setting in rollers, then sitting under a dryer (a plug in, or that "gold thing" as people are calling it) will give you either bouncy curls or straight hair depending on how you style it...without damage :) Great video!

I think they add volume only when the rollers are so large. If you want curl, you just need to use smaller rollers than this. Curling irons are harsher on hair if you are curling your hair every day, but there are great heat protectants out there now to help prevent damage too.

I used to have these rollers and honestly I think my hair was just too long. Even with the max size, I needed to do like 20 small segments of hair to be able to and most did not stay in well, if at all and the curl was nil. Again, in hindsight my hair was too long to really hold *any* curl so I am interested to try these again now that it's just down below my shoulders. I never understand though when ppl put all this work into curls just to brush them out like....?? Not a bad tutorial but being that I would be doing this myself, it isn't as useful watching a professional who gets to stand behind her head seeing what he's doing. I started my online search just now looking for good old fashioned hot curlers and the video I had seen years ago. I'm a disco and 80s chick. I need heat and massive hair with well-developed curls that'll last a week.

That kind of method is to give more volume to your hair. I dont expect my hair to hold curls at all however it would be nice if it could have some volume. The more you use them the more your hair will probably adjust

The rollers are meant to be use with wet hair and you leave on until the hair dry would 6 hours while you doing house work. If you are going to use the heat dry might as well use hot rollers. Rollers and natural heat from your head will help the curls or volume to your hair.

That much hairspray with Velcro rollers is going to stick and pull out hair. Just use a few rollers without all the hair spray and then unroll rollers. Gives body. Not curls.

Plastic helmet it's absolutelly old fashion! If you don't know how to use it, you can damage the hairdryer engine!!! Nowadays there are electrical appliances to dry the hair quickly I mean, that thing you use isn't uneffective it's just out of date. The technique you use amazing, congratulations!

if he heated the hair before putting it in the curlers (like hair straightener or curling iron) and/or if he set the curls with blow drying (while they were all in the rollers- the curls would have been more dramatic.

I am in cosmetology school and I liked his round brush video but dont get this one at all. That portable device makes her look like she is hooked up to the Borg on Star Trek or something.
