Wondering how you can possible store all that information for 4BLD, 5BLD, and MBLD? Use the Roman Rooms memory technique!
It works for 3BLD too (although it may be a bit slower). I used rooms until I averaged 1:15. I think Tom Nelson still uses rooms for 3BLD.

Fantastic video Tim. One tip I think that people can benefit from, that I believe you didn't mention, is that the images should also interact with the environment. The images shouldn't just be put there, they should be interacting with the objects in the room/location.
@timothygoh-4bld649
@timothygoh-4bld649 6 лет назад
I actually don’t do that haha. I don’t think it’s necessary since 1. It takes more time/effort to do so, 2. You already connected the first image to the locus (I talked about this), and 3. Each image is connected to the previous one
@zacharyzwerling7048
@zacharyzwerling7048 6 лет назад
Noah mentioned this in his video, that's why I brought it up here. By interacting, I don't mean it has to be doing some explicit action, but for example in the video you showed the character crushing the ground, that qualifies as an "interaction"
@timothygoh-4bld649
@timothygoh-4bld649 6 лет назад
Right, some interaction is good, but you don't want to be linking every single image to the locus. Just image-to-image linking is good enough. I've talked to Bed Pridmore (multiple time world memory champion) about this and he said that he doesn't put any extra effort into linking his images to their locus, the locus functions "more as a background or a by-product of the central process of memorising" while "the images themselves and the interaction between them" are what's more important
@GrahamSiggins
@GrahamSiggins 5 лет назад
@Zach, neither mark nor I ever make the images interact with the room, so I'd definitely say it isn't necessary, or even objectively good. I think if anything that just wastes time during memo

Bro thank you so much!!! I've been struggling with my memo on 3x3 alot. And I know I'm not in lto multiblind nor big cubes but this is the exact tutorial I was looking for. As I learned this trick, my pb on 3BLD became faster and faster with this trick. I'm so innacurate with my memo trying the images/story trick that J perm taught in his tutorial. But creating a story inside a place that is familiar to me like my house is super fricking effective and faster as well.

Ah, cool! I didn't know it was so common to put, say, all corners in the same locus. I thought I was kinda weird, lol. Most Swedish BLDers I've talked to only put one or two pairs in a locus, and have like 4 loci in a room, but that requires soo much space

@drivers99
@drivers99 5 лет назад
Lin Haoyue You can use something called the Major System (look up mnemonic major system). Use that to turn number into words and then use roman rooms (memory palace) to memorize the words.

For words that can’t be pictures, I just imaging either a charachter from the previous pair saying it, or if my previous pair was not a charachter, i just imaging a sign with the word on it

If my story that I created wasn't fun enough or my imagination wasn't good then what should I do? I sometimes feel my story is so boring, nothing special, more like connecting each letter to make a sentence than make a story (Sorry for my bad English)

hey so i’m having trouble with 3BLD as a just started out w/o memo, i’m just writing down letters then memorizing them rather than on the spot, how do you memorize for 3BLD? or is it just creating sentences and executing them, because that’s currently what i do but i still haven’t gotten a successful solve, even with writing down then memorizing.
@timothygoh-4bld649

You can use rooms for 3BLD but it may be simpler to just make a story out of it. Check out J Perm's tutorial for more info ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A64Sy4WKiWY.html

J Perm said to use stories. For example if you need to switch D with W it could be something like Dwarf workers. And then you make more an more of those in order until you’re memo is over.

I don't get it. How do you derive the letters for the images? Is it the same as the memory palace technique using the Major system? How do you picture the images in your mind? As a group or solo? Thank you!

@the4thCuber
@the4thCuber 6 месяцев назад
I connect it to a certain thing, like for an edge, I'll remember some "bad" version of the letterpair and memorize "flipping ....", in the same way that mbld often just have extra words ending in "p" or "ip" for parity

Hey, I am just starting in 3bld. How should I practice, with or without the letters written on my cube? Will it be better if I start practicing slowly without the letters or with the letters?
@timothygoh-4bld649
@timothygoh-4bld649 6 лет назад
It doesn't really matter, what's most important is that you practice. If no letters is too hard, try with letters
@the1barbarian781

Even if you can easily visualize the loci, how do you connect them to the letters?
@thisisjoel7199
@thisisjoel7199 5 лет назад
When you have a group of 2 or 3 letters, you can try your best to construct them into words. SC could be school, or scorpion.

Some people like to have a fixed number, but I just store everything from that piece type. For corners, it’s usually around 4, for edges it’s ~6
