The only time we use rotary is to spin dry the pads. Man! U are savage 😂 . Btw I just bought my first ever polishing machine. LHR15ES. No experience what so ever. I can tell you is not as hard as I thought. Machine control is super easy . Love it.

I am a detailer in a dealership I am constantly buffing out acid rain and sap trees from our new vehicles that are stored in a lot surrounded by trees. This upcoming Friday we are going to get a rupes demo from our distributor and he told me to check it out. From the videos I've seen I can't wait to see this product in action in my hands the results looks so much better than the 3m products we are using.

Todd, thank you for the M8 size tip! I was tracking the washer mod but everything I could find called for a modified washer.

Hi Todd! I just want to clarify something as I had a hard time trying to see the M8 washer from the video. But it’s just a standard M8 washer, correct? When people show the washer mod, I normally see an unspecified washer grinder down. Is the M8 washer in the video grinded down or a complete circle? Thanks in advance.

Standard washer. If anybody is trying to say that it takes a "special" or "modified" washer, they're selling you snake oil. It does not matter one bit.
@briandraper7630
@briandraper7630 4 года назад
ESOTERIC the washer mod by Kevin Brown is supposed to help the backing plate spin better. It doesn’t rotate freely when machine is off but with washer mod in, that little gap helps
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 4 года назад
@@briandraper7630 A washer is a washer is a washer. All it does is space the backing plate so it doesn't touch the "anti-spin" shroud. You can either use one that you already have in your toolbox, or pay to use one that is "special-made"...they will function exactly the same.

so its best to buy the 21m throw and can use the smaller backing plate and best off both machines in one what about pad stall great review
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 6 лет назад
Not necessarily...just depends on your wants and needs. In the shop we use the 15 most of the time, but if you're a detailer that works on big flat surfaces a lot, then you may want to go with the 21. "Pad stall" is generally a technique issue, and not a machine issue.
@herpshnerp

Thoughts on pad type? Mike Phillips only advocates for rupes pads as a system. I was going to go with the thin lake country. Any issues you've seen with using other pads?
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 6 лет назад
The machine and pads from Rupes are all balanced to work together, but having said that, you can still use others if you wish. The 3 pads that we use at least 95% of the time are the Meg's MF Cutting Disc for compounding, and the Rupes Yellow and White pads for either one-steps or finish polishing.

Great video. I see you mention a better cut with the 21. I own a 15. Am I sol when I need more cut or will it just take longer to polish out such defects?
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 6 лет назад
In most cases, no. In extreme cases, you may find with the 15 you have to go back over a small remnant, whereas the 21 might clear it all in just one polishing set.

Pressure is indeed needed to gain optimal results. Compounding requires the most pressure, then it drops down a little for one-step polishing, then down yet again for finish polishing.
