This also applies to DSi, Wii, and 3DS because they just need to be fat32, not less than 32gb.

@@Scarekrow123 you can do it, yes. You will need a USB-Y cable to do it though, as the Wii-U doesn't give enough power through a single USB port to power a modern-day USB External HDD. once you plug it in, the Wii-U should prompt you to format it for the system, and from there it should work.

HOW... do... I get... those files in the SD card in the first place? My Wii U was already hacked when I got it, now I want to placer some games in it but where do you get these files from?

Not really but in my opinion what works best is sandisk not the black ones but the red and grey colored micro sd cards i would recommend those

Does this still apply to people like me who don’t have the homebrew channel? I can’t download it due to the eshop closing but I really want an SD card with big storage. I assume it still works if I follow the steps even if I don’t have the homebrew channel, right?

it does, but the homebrew channel is an unofficial mod for the wii/wii u. You dont need the eshop to download it, just to follow the wii u hacks guide

With a 32GB SD card, you can format with FAT32 straight from Windows, so no need for a special tool. Anything over 32GB is when you need to use a special tool to set it to the FAT32 format. Hope this helped.

I am having an issue with a 128GB micro SD card in a converter. The wii U doesnt seem to want to show me anything higher than 24GB when its in the Wii U. Is there a way to change this? Or am I better off using the 32GB SD card that came with the switch and then using a USB device for more storage?

I had this issue as well, make sure no other programs or files are open and open Fat32Format as Admin and it should work.

This video was quite short so recording the pc screen and using the capture card was probably less than half an hour. The whole thing took around 3 hours.

Do you REALLY need a 1TB SD Card for the Wii U?! Isn't 128GB ENOUGH?! at least if you need THAT MUCH SPACE for THAT MUCH GAMES just get something like 256, 400 or even 512GB

I guess if SDXC is supported you can use cards up to 2TB while 1TB is the maximum capacity at this time.

you're tutorial is good for Windows ONLY, as a linux user, I find it annoying when the only solutions I can find are for windows... still, for the universal stuff you do(namely for 3ds) keep up the good work!

That setup should be good! Hey! Since jack never replied I can help. Brand (Recommended): Kingston or San Disk. Size: 4gb - as big as needed :) no limit. DO NOT USE A THUMB STICK. IT WILL BREAK QUICKLY. DO NOT USE A SD CARD READER AS EXTERNAL STORAGE. IT WILL BREAK. Any other questions?

1. Use a card reader 2. Put sd card in reader 3. Plug that bad boy into usb port on wii u 4. Boom now you can save games through sd card 5. Your welcome!!! :)
