How to Use Shit-Tests (That You Give) to Flip the Script 

Love these--rules for life, not just pick-up. Here's a summary: - 90% of guys are on the receiving end of shit tests; few are on the giving end. But giving shit tests can imply a lot of value and make you "special" - Shit tests are NOT insults, i.e., "You're ugly." No. - More subtle--giving a girl a hard time via connotation/implication instead of denotation (literal meaning). I.e. comment on her fashion--"I like that sweater, how you're bringing the 80s back". Back-handed compliment, saying you like her style but implying it's out of date, puts her a little off balance. - Girls' common shit test: "Do you say that to all the girls?" If she had added, "...because if you do, that's creepy and weird", that would be a direct INSULT, not a shit test, which is indirect, fun, a challenge, putting her on the spot. - may give her an urge to qualify/explain/excuse herself - shit tests are a frame control adjustment, i.e. "You and I wouldn't get along" (her: "Why wouldn't we get along?")--places you as the higher status person - "shit test" is a broad category. It comprises anything that has the purpose of 1) keeping girl on her toes, 2) activating her instinct to explain herself, and 3) asserting your high-value frame RULE 1: GOOD FRAME. You are an attractive person. Girls like you. You're busy and have a cool life; any girl who becomes a part of it improves her life. You're interested enough to talk to her, but you're not easily won over/impressed because you have a lot of experience with women. Good shit tests come from good frames. Just the frame itself can be an ongoing shit test, applying subtle, constant, implied pressure for her to qualify herself, to compete for your attention. - no shit test should be reactive or defensive. No insults. No giving a shit test in return for a shit test. RULE 2: GOOD HUMOR Be mildly amused. I.e., imagine she's always had a crush on you. You're not at all worried about how she perceives you because you're CERTAIN she likes you. Even if she's a little negative, you don't take it all that seriously. "Annoying little niece" is a good frame to take toward her. Sweet, nice, want good things for you, but I'm the grown-up and you're the kid (but don't insult). Just tease. Decent frame is 70-80% of the battle. RULE 3: INSTIGATE to build value. Use a little inappropriate or impolite language in their presence. A lot of guys try to be on their best behavior around hot girls; when a guy does not, he sets himself apart. Todd wears black T-shirts, which bar staff often wears. Generic. Girls often mistake him for bar staff and may ask him a question, like, "Where's the bathroom." Instead of being polite, or literal, or qualifying, Todd may say, "Why the fuck are you asking me?" which shocks her into apologizing, and Todd then says, "I'm just messing with you. Hi, I'm Todd." Harsh, over the top, but gets their attention and conveys unscripted high value / willingness to be polarizing and validates whatever else he says, because he's apparently willing to be brutally honest and doesn't give a shit what she thinks about him. Willingness to offend if necessary. - do NOT try to offend! Will fail at game. But do NOT try to NOT offend. - DISQUALIFIERS incorporate all 3 rules: A disqualifier is any indication that you're not interested. Hot girls aren't used to guys not being interested, and that's why disqualifiers work. "Girl, you just blew it." Less harsh: "Easy; if you keep that up, I might stop liking you so much"--more positive/playful; also incorporates push-pull, which is very effective. - "We might not get along." Not, "You're a bad person." - ANYTHING ODD = opportunity to tease. Can be friendly/joking or apparently serious, where she (temporarily) feels she horribly offended you. Misspeaking: i.e. "Literally" (glad you didn't do it figuratively); dropping something or being klutzy. Be calibrated; don't always have to say anything but can use facial expressions. Main thing is to *take the opportunity to tease*, not every time, but be aware of every opportunity and take them where useful. RECAP: 1) shit tests are important. - good FRAME, vibe/attitude/HUMOR, and INSTIGATE, don't insult (be able to explain as a complement) 2) opportunity to shit test after practically everything she says or does; be aware; do tease/shit test or be boring 3) play with shit tests. Most guys don't do nearly enough. Just put it out there.

Great discussion on Frame Control. However, coming from old school seduction community background, it seems Todd's equated congruence tests with shit tests. Not sure it that is correct. Another clarification I need from Todd is whether he also equated the old concept of "negs" with what he labelled as "disqualifiers" or "false disqualifiers" since they both demonstrate confidence, fun, a lack of neediness, and a discriminating attitude. Reminds me the concept of "Prizing" coined by Joshua Seltzer. It also reminds me Chris Odom mechanics of generating short-term attraction through a combination of pumping buying temperature (C&F) and disqualification. In addition, Todd mentions it but if it is deducted that if I man "shit-tests" the girl; then, it is one way to create attraction through role-playing. In this case, Todd explicitly covers the goals of role-reversal: you are the one with higher value and you are screening her to make sure she qualifies herself to you. The best role to play involves having more social value than her. And eventually, this should be the reality as your Game develops.
