Great tip. This is why I used free weights for this exercise, but seeing that trap "cheat" is good regardless of how someone does a lat raise.

I think it's a bit easier and less awkward to focus on pushing through the thumbs and keep the rest of your digits that would be responsible with "pulling" in the traps loose

There’s an old school machine that has the handles where’s his hands are, no need to pretend. Think it’s a nautilus machine. It’s done standing up also.
