Any transducer will work, but a side scan transducer is way faster, covering a lot more water. 👍

ahndeux Dont go back to Evo2. It can’t do Sonar Chart Live. I have used several different updates and they all have worked, is your buddy using a platinum plus card, and has it been updated right out of the box?

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS He is using the Navionics Platinum+ (644P+) microSD card. I updated the firmware on the fish finder for him around the end of last year. I don't have his exact version but I can ask if you need that. I just checked the latest version on the Navionics web site and its "NSS_evo3-19.1-62.1.108-Standard-1.upd" and that was released June of 2019. There is a good chance the version is the same since no new firmware has been released since.

ahndeux did he update the card at the Navionics site? It won’t work until he does.

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS He has updated the card. I can see the updated files in the SD card when I tested the card on my Lowrance unit. He tried to send Navionics the recorded data to have them incorporate the updates into future map updates. However, after reading information on the internet, it seems like Navico made the business decision to not allow Navionics to process the data directly downloaded from the fish finders. Navico users have to link to their phones and use the web app to store data to send it back. Its a complete mess. None of these decisions by these companies are good for the owner of the products. He followed your instructions on the video but did not see the maps appear on the screen like yours. He talked to the tech support while in the water and they gave him the run around. One mentioned that he has to have the tracks recorded in order to show the live maps. He tried and the results were the same. Thanks for all your help.

The Go series can’t run sonar chart live as far as recording your own charts, but I believe you can still take advantage of the community edits which I use more than anything else. You’re very right, there is so much out there it’s confusing!!

It saves it to the card. Go thru your menu, you will see where you use the charts you made over the existing or use just what you made.

Still confusing me in earlier times you had to apparently save to an sad card? So exactly what are you saying? On your vidio nothing mentioned about setting unit to save to?... bear with me mate I’m a dynasore

You don’t have to save anything. When you turn sonar chart live on it does it all.

You can do colors like that with C-Map and a few other 3rd party charts. The colors on Navionics Sonar Chart Live are all shades of blue. Maybe that will change with an update.

Paul Paul As of right now they set the shading automatically. You can set a fishing contour and a shallow contour that will shade them differently leaving the rest of the chart white so you can target those specific depths, but that’s really all that’s there. It’s mostly for saltwater where you have thousands of depth ranges. I see the color assignment more in freshwater charts where there is less then 100ft most times.

For structure scan to work it must be plugged into port 2, maybe things got confused when you switched the port. Switching transducer ports with the display powered on can damage several things, but at the very least can confuse the system. I would try a software update with the transducer plugged in port 2. Hope this helps.

I had plugged my Navionics card into the sounder without activating it. Maybe because I had a hotspot going on my phone as well it recognised that, and stopped working. If that's not the case I will try your suggestion either way as well and hopefully it works! thanks again

Wow. I’m surprised sonar chart live worked at all without updating the card. That’s probably it.

The changes are made to the chart card and stored there.

Dan Martin You can uncheck share data, but I GUARANTEE it’s already been mapped and is already available. In fact I stopped recording because it’s all been done already and is ready to be used.

Did you update the card with Navionics when you got it? That’s necessary. It will ask you for the serial number of the display you’re using etc. it should work after that 👍

Jeff Brinkman I just checked the Navionics site and it says it is compatible with Go series. You will need a current Navionics plus card. If you have an older card you will need to update it.

If your subscription has expired, check update options here. Another way to update is by using the Plotter Sync with Navionics mobile apps. Awesome! Thanks, I just subscribed to the Insight Genesis last month and with the slow fishing, I have been creating maps of some of my hotspots. Do you know how it stores the current maps, because I have an older Navionics chip (I will update it), and only one SD slot in the GO7.

Jeff Brinkman I’m not positive with the Go series but I’m told that it saves new data right to the Navionics card.
