I did not know this paper and this method yet! The results are really impressive!💯

Lesley, I’m excited to use this product and make a variety of quilt blocks. I plan to do layering and I’m not sure if the image should be printed on TAP during the initial run, in two different places and then added in layers,or if I can put TAP through the printer more than once.

Hi Susan - I think it depends on the look you'd like to achieve. Technically, you could layer the images together in your software before you print it for more of a seamless integration between the two images. Or, you could run it through the printer twice to give a more nuanced layered look - however you'd want to make sure you gave your ink ample time to dry before running the paper back through the printer. Personally, I'd probably prefer printing the images independently of each other for getter control of where I place the images on my final project.

How does this product compare with Jet Pro products? I have used them in the past and been very happy with the results.

How does this stand up to being washed?

I transferred a black and white 8mage to a vintage sheet, made an apron then washed it and it didn’t even fade worked great

What can I use to transfer like this but to denim? I tried it on light blue denim and while it transferred it was way too dark. I can’t find any TAP specific for dark fabrics. I used it on white sheet and it was perfect.
@lesleyriley
@lesleyriley 3 года назад
The white areas transfer as polymer and will always darken a dark fabric.. Trimming as much of the white, unprinted areas as you can will help eliminate this. All printer inks are transparent, s o the receiving surface and the transfer color also result in a new color, like yellow ink on blue will be green. There are transfer papers for dark fabrics but they sit on the fabric (think of t-shirt transfers).

@@lesleyriley thank you great explanation, maybe I will bleach the area first, wash to stop bleach action and then apply transfer so that it has a very light background.

Once the image has been transferred to the fabric and you run your hand across the image, can you feel the image under your hand? For example, is it slippery, or does the dye from the image sink into the fabric? I don't want a plastic-y feel from the image on the surface of the design. Also, I am doing a commissioned project using vintage photographs over 100 years old. How can I best guarantee that the images transferred to the fabric (probably quilt-quality 100% cotton or 100% linen) will not fade or peel off the fabric? Thanks for your response.
@CandTPublishing
@CandTPublishing 4 года назад
The transfer is seamless as the inks are fused into the fabric, not sitting on the fabric. Depending on the fabric you use, you may notice a difference in the feel of the transferred area vs the feel of the original fabric. There is a sheen and silky feel on the transferred image. You can remove the sheen by ironing over the transfer with a piece of silicone release paper, parchment paper or pressing sheet. The image will definitely not peel off of the fabric. As for fading, unlike printing directly onto fabric, the polymer that facilitates the transfer protects the image from fading. For example, if the project was kept in sunlight, the other fabrics in the project would fade long before the transferred images.

@@CandTPublishing the inks are fused in the fabric . Can you iron over the image without any protective clothing or paper?

@@bonitanance6380 You need to use a protective sheet when ironing over the transferred image. Silicone release paper or parchment paper is recommended.

Yes! Just make sure you don't use any alcohol based products or scratch the surface with the tracing "tool"

@@lesleyriley so when I paint on the image do I need to do anything special will the polymer accept the paint permanently? Do I need to add fabric medium to my paint, do I need to heat seal the paint, or anything else? I am trying to create art jackets using acrylic paints and inks.
@lesleyriley
@lesleyriley 3 года назад
@@dorisamstutz5888 no. Just use light applications of paint and if it’s acrylic be sure it sets/cures for 2 days prior to ironing. BTW my new book on TAP is out and available for purchase at CTpublishing.com where you’ll find all the answers to all your questions. Amazon will have it soon. It just arrived yesterday. Yes, Chamois and deerskin are wonderful. The white areas will transfer as clear polymer which will darken the leather when it's transferred so trim as much white away as you can.
