From the makers of the classic stovetop espresso makers comes the first all-in-one stovetop cappuccino maker, the Bialetti Mukka Cow Express - 2 Cup. This stovetop cappuccino maker departs from Bialetti’s standard design to implement a precision steam wand into the top chamber, which steams milk to the perfect creaminess without you having to touch a thing.
The device works similarly to a normal moka pot, but with one primary difference: you add 75g of cold milk to the top chamber. After the espresso is brewed and mixes with the milk, the steam wand activates automatically, producing 2 cups of rich, creamy cappuccino every time.
The Mukka Cow Express features a cow print design, which cleverly complements the cappuccino maker. It is built with premium aluminum and is designed to last. The device comes with an instructional DVD to get you started on the right foot.
Overall, this all-in-one stovetop cappuccino maker is easy to use, easy to clean, and is a reliable way to get your regular cappuccino fix.

My Mukka was messy, cold and almost without foam at the beginning.. But when I was looking for a valve replacement, I saw, there comes a small rubber ring with a new Valve. So I just put a small rubber sealing ring on the pillar where the coffe comes out, right under the top so the Valve sits on it. Now everything is sealed tight and i have more foam than ever, the coffee is much much hotter and there is no mess anymore. Everybody with problems, try a small sealing ring under the valve! (Try at own risk, always see that the bayonett valve is sealed tightI) Its a 13mm x 1,64mm ring ("R-06")!

Got bored during lockdown here in the UK and bought one of these on Amazon. First couple of tries were lukewarm. Problem is it doesn’t really heat the milk. Answer was to preheat the milk in the microwave, then add to the pot. BTW you can use the measure for the water for the milk too - go up to the top line. Good results since then, though I’d call it cappuccino-like rather than true cappuccino. Glad I bought it as once you’ve figured it out it’s pretty easy for a morning milky coffee. Just remember to clean it thoroughly as soon as possible. And, I leave it disassembled when putting it away so that it dries out properly.

Hmmm, thanks for the info. I feel like, if I have to heat the milk separately, it's not worth it just to have this device add some foam. I already use a stainless steel Ilsa espresso maker and heat up some milk in a pan on the stove. I would only buy something like this device if it heated and foamed the milk all in one. Or I would buy an electric milk heater/frother as a companion to my Ilsa.

I just found mine at a thrift store in Grass Valley, CA! It was still in the box, hardly used if ever, but missing the measuring cup which isn't really a big deal. Mine was $10 though, CA prices! Just used it but will do the 3 brews before drinking. (Tasted some of the first brew but it wasn't great - need some experimentation.) As mentioned earlier it's probably best to do initial brews to help clean it.

@@oldnepalihippie I would keep as close as you can to the pot to hear the sudden 'pop' of the pressure valve releasing. Wait a few moments after that and it'll be safe to lift the lid to see, and it'll sure be ready to serve no doubt. Yes, we would recommend using hot/ warm milk in the top - as we have found the Mukka doesn't make the milk all that much hotter when the coffee mixes in. Hot water in the bottom is personal preference and I've heard arguments for both. Bialetti recommend Cold Water to slowly build pressure as it's heating. Others use hot water because more than 5mins is too long to wait 😀

@@AlternativeBrewing ha, sounds like a Schrödinger experiment is warranted. But whatever, this thing makes great coffee drinks imo. Better than what the baristas do here in Nepal, with all their $$$ tech. The only thing this pot can't do, is to create those pleasing designs from milk foam. Although you can always make a simple cinnamon ring easy enough.

I've had mine for ten years and always had a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes it will leak pressure too early resulting in insufficient pressure to steam the milk. I had replacement steam valves from Bialetti but they all behaved like this. It also forces you to use too much milk. Resulting in a very weak brew. Their Mokka pots are great though.

You should try the Moka Brikka to brew the coffee, this should make a nice strong shot. Then you can heat and froth the amount of milk you need seperately with a french press. I do this with an Aeropress when I'm camping and it works great. I'm tempted to get a steel Brikka to try it with though!

I bought this for camping to avoid having to separately heat a small amount of milk and scalding it. At home I use a Moka pot and microwave milk then use an Aerolatte milk frother and I can get a really nice texturised milk that way. The first cup I used boiling water as I do in the Moka the Mukka produced a tepid cup of weak coffee and I have to use a lot more milk than I like. No foam or texture just weak coffee into cold milk. Next try I used cold water to see if having to heat it longer helped and I heated my cup up with hot water so that was a bit hotter. I will try the sealing ring trick next and also change to a more intense blend. Also can you use less milk or do you have to fill to that line?

Any idea what could be causing issues such as this?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
No - I would agree with you that the Cappuccino mode is really the only mode you'd want to use if you prefer frothed milk. I struggled getting anywhere with the Latte Mode. Getting the right texture in the milk was a balance on having the right temperature on the stove - you could probably brew the coffee on a low-medium heat than turn it up to steam with - and getting the right volumes helps, as well as allowing it to steam all the way out until there's no more steam left should provide time to do its job

Hello! Why do you use grind for espresso instead a few larger grind (special for moka)?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 года назад
I say espresso, but it's espresso or a little coarser. Naturally espresso grind for the home machines, or espresso sold in pre-ground packets is going to be much coarser than say, commercially ground espresso - So from that perspective, you don't want to be using grounds too coarse otherwise it'll juts make a weak and watery brew.

The instruction manual says before first use make at least three preparations which you will “through away”. Why is it necessary? If for cleaning why not just water? Do you have to wash it between each of the three preparations?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
I would rinse it between each preparation - but yes - this is true of a whole lot of products, as the manufacturing happens on a large scale and the products although treated to a high degree of sanitation and hygiene practices as well as ensuring there's no hazards in the product - there may be risk of dust and to wash off any chemicals that might have been used to finish the plastics or metals away and rinse any sprue away too. It's only a risk but better avoided.

It is strange enough that in Russia you get a small leaflet inserted into a box with the instructions in Russian, which reads “if you want to make latte, pour the water up to a pressure valve”. The milk level stays the same. Don’t forget to pull up the pressure knob. Since there is no froth formation, the coffee just mixes with the milk with funny anti clockwise rotation.

I had the exact same question. It didn't seem right to add *2* cups for electric stove and just 1 for gas. That's a huge difference in dilution of the coffee. You might want to put a note on the video so others don't make the same mistake. I double-checked the instruction pamphlet and it didn't say to add 2 cups for electric so I was confused. I got mine at a thrift store and it doesn't have the measuring cup, but sounds like 150mL for gas and ?? for electric? maybe 175? Would be good to know since I have an electric stove. I read the manual again, and it doesn't state, that you have to take two cups. Only, that you have to take the second (higher) line of the measuring cup or 2-3mm above the line in the kettle. Two times the water is way too much for cappuccino! About the double amount (to the valve) is necessary for Cafe latte!

Hello! Despite a dozen tests following the instructions, I can’t get a significant foam. Indeed a foam is created at 1/4 of the free space only. I did tests with different temperatures of water and milk, with different heat... The results are always disappointing... 😭 please help me
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 года назад
Try using different volumes too .. getting the right amount of brewed coffee to milk will be a big advantage to making good foam. using milk heated up prior to placing it in the Mukka will help keep it hot and steam it up more.. and having it on the Cappuccino setting is best for more impressive foam.

Good point - once it pops - it means it's rapidly mixing the coffee with the milk. Once all the coffee has been added - is a good time to remove if off the heat.

@@AlternativeBrewing thank you. I made the mistake to leave it longer at first. It tasted burned😝 After i realised that i took it off the heat faster and the result was a lovely cappuccino ! Can it be used for just milk boiling and foaming, that is using this without coffee powder
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 года назад
hi there - no I would say that is requires the coffee to steam up through the wand to mix the hot coffee with the milk. The steam wand will not work without a liquid coming up from the bottom chamber to the top - and I would not recommend placing milk in the bottom container to do this
@l-space_traveler

You can steam/foam milk without the coffee: use it like usual (water in the bottom, milk in the top) and just leave the coffee basket empty. I do this with matcha mixed in with my milk!

The inside of my pot is becoming discolored, almost like tarnish. Can it be replaced?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 месяца назад
The bottom may be able to be replaced yes. You could be referring to Oxidisation on the aluminium pot inside. Caused mainly by air and water in contact with the metal. It's avoidable by keeping the unit thoroughly dry after each use - otherwise it will continue to happen slowly over time. Yet, it is not an issue - and most pots have this 👌

Help! I overpaid for this, and they won't let me return it. I've tried espresso grind and slightly coarser grind (which the store swears is the correct grind) it comes out undrinkable every time. Sometimes hot, sometimes luke warm, sometimes frothy, sometimes not - but in all cases it tastes terrible. The one time it was hot it tasted burnt. I never hear the puff that is described. What am I doing wrong? It's an electric stove, so I realize that controlling the temperature might be part of the problem. I've tried on medium, I've tried on medium high, I've tried turning it down once I hear it start bubbling, I've tried leaving it on heat till the end. Always bad. :( :(

How do I know if my pressure valve is broken?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 года назад
It works off a spring. INside the water chamber - push on the back end of the valve. It should open up the outside valve. Occasionally this may get stuck or sticky - and hard to pop open - and this could be potentially dangerous - but if the spring is able to be pushed on and reacts to pressure - then this will suggest the valve is in working order and open up if too high a pressure is reached. NB: Never fill water above the pressure valve.

You might need to run the heat up on the gas.. and make sure the top unit is fully twisted tight to the bottom, otherwise pressure will leak out the side and it won't build up any pressure on the inside and than won't pop!

You can use it like Moka pot to make espresso-like coffee, but you might as well save the money and get the Moka pot instead. Or, for a little more money, you can get the base Flair which can make real espresso which is on a whole another level in terms of just the smell alone which is what I did after my Mukka broke after ten years of use when the valve shot into the ceiling and spectacularly spewed hot coffee lava-like in the kitchen while I helplessly watched....
