How to Use the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)

While you’re driving, CMBS™ is designed to alert you when there’s the possibility of a frontal collision. And then if a collision is imminent, it can apply the brakes to reduce the severity of impact. Learn how the system works and how to adjust it using the driver information interface here.

Thanks to this system, I didn’t get hit. A stupid driver roll the stop sign when I already made a full stop, and was already in the intersection. Thanks to the system that made him stop abruptly. Shout out to those good drivers, and for awesome tech!

I’ve had a love hate relationship with this thing. The only thing I don’t like is it not allowing me to maneuver when I could clearly avoid situations.

Wait until it goes out. It effects power steering, lane and collision mitigation, lane assist, parking break. It's trash.

Do these safety features remain on by default or do you have to enable them? Apparently walk away auto lock (and maybe some other features) were disabled when I got my car so just wondering if that’s the case here.

⁠The lane tracking system turns on automatically in the new HRV 2023. I have to turn it off every time I drive. Is there a place where I can close it permanently? Could you give information.

Does it actually press the brake and stops the vehicle or it’s only the alert?

It stops and or slows you down with out you hitting your break

I hate this thing. It's going off for NO reason and when it goes off the steering wheel shakes. Terrible.

This safety feature does no shakes the steering wheel. Thats lane departure mitigation.

No you cannot. Federal regulations prohibiting this type of trade-in have been on the books for years. Your Honda dealer should have explained it to you at the time of purchase, and handed you a copy of the regulations regarding Honda trade-ins.

Literally 3 seconds into the video at the bottom "... driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions". Also the term "mitigation" should clue you in that this isn't some kind of self driving system lol.

How so? I have a 2020 CR-V and it has this. I could turn it off but I've never seen a reason to do so. So sadly I'm not a "real driver" (whatever that means). If you think this feature is there so you can not pay attention to the road then you... aren't very bright and deserve what happens to you if you try to use it so you can play on your phone or whatever while driving. Sadly anyone else involved won't deserve it.

How so? I have a 2020 CR-V that has this. It's never saved me from an accident but it has been nice for OTHER drivers doing things like not knowing where they are going and hitting the brakes all of a sudden because they are looking for a specific turn or something. It's nice having the vehicle apply the brakes its self faster than a person can react. Doesn't matter how good you are at staying off your phone (sadly a VERY rare thing nowadays) while driving and paying attention. It can start applying the brake faster than you can move your foot from the gas pedal to the brake. IDK, I've never had it cause me any issues or annoy me or anything. I could always turn it off, but don't see a reason.
