Fantastic video, thank you. I learned so much. I’m just discovering nodes and making my own basic images. I will be watching again with SS open to do what you show as I watch as that’s how I learn best. Excited to drawn more 😄

Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve always struggled with drawing a hexagon with the straight side on a horizontal/vertical line. Learning these shortcuts will make designing so much easier and more accurate. Thanks again. 😃

Is it possible to draw a star? Thank you
@CaughtbyDesign
@CaughtbyDesign Год назад
Yes! There are a few different ways you can draw a star - freehand drawing, flexishapes (in Designer Edition Plus or Business Edition), or by drawing a square or rectangle and using point-editing to add star points.

Thank you. Is it possible to switch from STRAIGHT to CURVED points while drawing with the line tool without having to end the line and start a new line? I do a lot of drawing here and need to switch mid draw. for example in my embroidery digitizing software I can draw with straight points, then if i need the next point to be a curve i just hold control, drop the curved point, then release control to continue with straight. never having to end the segment. i cant seem to figure this on out here and its very frustrating

Hello! It *is* possible to switch from straight to curved points, but there's a bit of a trick to it. The keyboard shortcut for straight lines is \ and the shortcut for curved lines is c. Once you draw the straight line, press c and the tool will change to drawing a curve. If you want to go back to drawing a straight line, press \. Once you've completed the drawing, each segment will be separate, even though the connection points between the straight and curved lines may look like they are touching. Here's how to make it one continuous line: Select the entire drawing and choose Make a Compound Path. Once you have a created a compound path, double-click on the design to enter point-editing mode and look for bright red dots that indicate an open path (there should be an open path everywhere it changes from straight to curved and vice-versa). Select the bright red dot and move it until it connects with the point next to it (which will also be a bright red dot). You may need to zoom into see it, but the points will almost act as magnets when you get them close to one another and they will snap together. Editing the points in this way sounds time-consuming, but it really isn't - and should be much faster than switching between the Draw a Line and Draw a Curve tools in the tool menu. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out to me again and I'll be glad to help. Thanks for watching the tutorial!

Can you pls tell me how to draw lines in a square box so that I can print it out and be able to write on those lines? Thank y ou so much. Theresa
@CaughtbyDesign
@CaughtbyDesign 4 года назад
Sure, I'll be happy to help you with that! If the problem is that the lines aren't printing, check the line weight. It needs to be set to something above 0.0 in order to print. If you want to know how to draw the box, there are several ways, but the one I think works best is to draw a rectangle with the height equal to one line spacing, then duplicate several rectangles directly below one another until you get the size of the box you want. Group the rectangles together and it will look like a box with lines drawn inside. Hope that helps!
