I have had my 6 quart, thanks to Barbara helping me for about 10 years. Still going strong. I’ve invested in several accessories so I would go AGAIN WITH A 6 quart when I need to replace.. But this looks nice if you are a first timer.
I just got this Rio today! This was my Xmas gift to me! I have been a pressure cooker forever...35 yrs! When the electric pot were created I was in love with them! I love that this is wide! I have the 4 qt pc made by crock pot and love that its wide but hate the non stick on the pot!!!
Very intriguing. I will probably purchase, but will wait until a non-stick insert pot AND sealing rings to fit become available. Any ideas on a time line?
❤ hola recién me he comprado esta olla Rio 9 in 1. Tenia una Nesco muy basica con solo slow y regular pressure y tenia que poner el tiempo a mano. Solo tenia 4 botones. La amaba en verdad. Me duro 13 años.
Thank you so much for such great information, my daughter just purchased this one for me and of course I never read the instructions completely and I learned so much that I did not know from your video, thanks again for all you do.
Years ago my Mom had an oval pressure cooker, shaped like a slow cooker. It was awesome for ribs , large roasts etc. I hope IP will look into making something like that in the future
I had the Crock Pot version but it failed. The valve top cracked. They replaced it with a regular shaped one and now that failed. Also problem with the valve pressure release area.
It would be so fun if you did a 9 inch cheesecake in this model! Looking forward to recipes in this model in the future! Thank you, ladies! P.S. watching your video I just had to have one and it arrived today! Thanks again!
Thank you for the video review. I was considering the Ninja Foodi with the Smart Lid or the new Instant Pot with the all in one pressure/air fry lid, but didn't like that the lids are attached and the hot lid is so close to my hand. I also didn't like that the air fry lid was exposed to the moisture from the pressure cooker side. That screams rust. Thank you for the thorough review. It made my decision clear!
I loved this review. Thank you for showing me the details of this pot. I'm planning to replace my nearly 10 year old Breville 6ltr pressure cooker (steam, slow, rice, pressure, saute) with one of these. This was really useful. I am worried about its size. The height is GREAT, but the WIDTH will be a problem. I'm taking it with me when I go solo-travelling next year in my MotorHome. So I will check out the spec's to see if it will fit in one of my "limited" drawer/cupboard space. Have you shown the extra features that make this a "PLUS" model? I have subscribed!
Here's a link to our complete review www.pressurecookingtoday.com/review-instant-pot-rio-wide-plus/ It has high and low pressure, sous vide and lots more settings.
Have you tried the slow cooker setting? My slow cooker is dying and I am out of room between my 2 different sized instant pots and my slow cooker. My older 2 IPs slow cook functions don't really work. (Temperature would never be even) I would love to have both functions in one that actually work. Thank you ladies.🙂
We rarely use the slow cook function but the newer models get better reviews on the slow cook function. Often, people will use the saute function to get the process started quickly and then switch to the slow cook function to finish the dish.
That's a great suggestion. Until then, here's a great post with video from a friend of my www.paintthekitchenred.com/how-to-use-the-instant-pot-sous-vide-smart-program/
For most people, I would recommend the Rio (or my favorite the Pro) instead of the Rio Wide Plus because there aren't any accessories or sealing rings yet for the Rio Wide Plus. I like a taller pressure cooker instead of a wider one. But I don't do a lot of large roasts that require more browning surface.
If you can get the Rio Wide Plus on sale for 50% off today and not the Rio Wide because it's under the $149 limit, then I'd get the Plus. I do like the Whisper Quiet Steam release slightly better.
Hi. Thanks for the review. I'm upgrading my older model Instant pot and trying to decide between the Pro and Rio Plus. I would like it to have a yogurt function which my current model does not. How do I know which model to choose. Any suggestions. Thanks
I wonder if you can answer if you can do cold start yogurt? I can't figure how to skip the boil settings and go to 8 hours of fermentation. I'm tempted to just put a couple cups of water than when its done with boil put in my premixed milk and yogurt.
You can use the sous vide setting instead. Skip down to the sous vide instructions on this post www.friedalovesbread.com/2017/06/easy-cold-start-yogurt-no-boil-method.html
This will become the go to IP for my travel trailer. It will live in my pantry. I can get rid of a large sauté pan and a smallish slow cooker. I don’t find the fins useful. The lid won’t fit under my upper cabinets and I don’t have power on my island. Also I’m afraid I’ll whack my elbow.
How to make yogurt Pasteurizing Milk 1. Add milk to the inner cooking pot and place the inner cooking pot into the cooker base. 2. Place the lid on top of the cooker base and lock the lid. 3. Press Yogurt and the indicator light illuminates. 4. Press Start. The first progress bar displays under Cooking and the Rio Plus starts heating. The display shows Step 1. Pasteurize. 5. When pasteurization is done, the Rio Plus starts cooling down, and the second Progress Bar displays under Cooking. Open lid to cool down faster. The display shows Cooling Down. Adding Culture/Starter 1. When the Rio Plus reaches the correct temperature for fermentation, the display shows Add Yogurt Starter. Add the yogurt starter and close lid. 2. You have 30 minutes to add the yogurt starter. If you do nothing, the Yogurt program will automatically stop. Ferment 1. The default or last-used fermenting time displays. To change it, press time and turn the Control Dial to change it. Press the Dial again to select it. 2. Press Start. The third Progress Bar displays under Cooking. The display shows Step 2. Ferment. 3. When fermentation completes, the unit beeps and the display shows End. A longer fermentation period will produce tangier yogurt. 4. Allow yogurt to cool. 5. Place in the fridge for 12-24 hours to develop flavors
So, I received a little cookbook (more of a multipage pamphlet) with my RIO 7.5qt. The title isn't specific to its size though. I'm wanting to make steel cut oats. Recipe calls for 1 cup water, 1cup almond milk, 1 cup oats some salt. My concern is that's not much coverage of the 11" floor of the inner pan. Might that burn up??? Yes, I know I could double the recipe but I'd like to know if my concern is legitimate.
Unfortunately the RIO Wide’s pot is not as wide and as deep as l’d hope. DUO’s inside dimensions inches are: 3 qt 7W X 4.75H 6 qt 8.6W X 6H 8 qt 9.3W X 6.8H 10 qt 11W X 6.7H. I can squeeze 4 Jumbo Artichokes inside my 10 qt DUO.
I bought this after reading that the yogurt setting could be used to proof bread, but now I'm reading that the yogurt setting is more like 110-115, which would be too warm. Is it possible to set the temp to 75-80?? Help!!
Peace be with you! Thank you soo much for reviewing this pressure cooker. In my honest opinion, kinda good idea but 3 big misses. Its capacity is still too small. it should've been around 10 quarts. It has no air fryer lid. Lastly, Instant Pot should abandon stainless - hard to clean - steel for ceramic coated aluminum pots. IMHO😃 Thanks again
