I have a 1967 Scofield KJV new in the box ...it still has the retail sticker from the Bible book store it came from here in Virginia it cost a huge sum of $10.99 in 1967. It's full grain leather ....I found it a few years ago at a old bookstore and I paid $10 for it
Very cool. To our knowledge, the 1967 had word changes in the actual text of the KJV, so be aware of that. They put the original words in the margins and/or reference system, which is why most true "KJV" folks did not appreciate it. God Bless.
Really appreciate your tutorials. Always informative, helpful, and even encouraging. The Scofield definitely has some helpful attributes. The one thing that has kept me from getting a Scofield Bible is the references that question the text using the critical text. These are "hath God said" questions. This has also kept me from getting a Longprimer for my library. Is there a 1917 Scofield that has these critical text references removed? Any other thoughts on this?
We believe such comments or references are few and far between in the Scofield and don't make it worthy of throwing out the baby with the bath water. If you had a Scofield that has things removed or changed, then it would no longer be the original 1917 Edition. Hence, why we preserve the "Classic Edition" both good and bad, in it's original over 100 year old format: www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-bibles/study-bibles/scofield-study-bibles/
@TheKJVStore Appreciate your patience in answering. Very reasonable to me. I think I will get a copy to have at least as a reference. I think the same would apply to the Longprimer. Kind of highlights why a Bible like the Notetakers is so good to have since you can carefully discern what is allowed in the outer court.
Amen, we wouldn't agree more and appreciate your grace with our response. You're exactly right about the Note Taker's. Text Only is excellent for no distractions and a singular focus on God's Word, vs. Scofield or any Study / Reference Bible is awesome for helping you more creatively think about and interpret Scripture in ways that you might not have considered on your own. God Bless.
