I often get questions from people not sure how to choose their paints for different stages. It's actually pretty simple! And a lot of paint companies have already done the work for you. This video isn't about painting pink skin, it's a more general tutorial on how to use the simple method of using three tones of the same colour to base coat, layer and highlight. If you want to go more advanced, instead of using three paints, you just add another paint as you go further with the highlights! Hope you enjoy the video and learn a little something you can apply to your painting!

something I do when painting like this is to add a thin thin layer of a fitting wash or ink. For the skin of this model I would have used a very thin (and I mean think) layer of a purple wash, like druchii violet, to tie it all together a little bit. something you don't need it but sometimes it really helps :) You, Mr. Mediocre, might have already seen it but Vallejo is releasing paint sets with 4 paint triads, whatever that is called, that comes with written guides. So, for example, you get 4 paints for red, or blue, or skin, and so on, and a little guide to follow. I have enjoyed their guides that have come with other sets, though those were written by Angel Giraldez and I don't know if the guides in the 4 paint triads are. It would be both interesting and fun to see you try them out and to see how it looks in the hands of someone at the average level of painting skills :)

With the free patreon my guess is maybe its a way to keep track of content creators you can't afford or want to see the value of, perhaps. Someone would at least be able to see how frequently and what you post, even if the posts are locked to them. I could definitely see the value of it if someone you follow were to take a break and you wanted to get that update when/if they came back.

The new Vallejo game color also goes for a triad system in this case called BSL (Base, Shadow, Light), just in case anyone wants to have a go at this system with paints more accessible to them.

Kevin Dallimore has an excellent book on using a triad system. Should still be available on Foundry or Amazon.

Well triads we’re the purpose of the video I mean how am I meant to make a video about triads without saying triad at least a few times. I guess I mite have said triad a few more tomes then I needed to say triad but I needed people to understand the substance of the triad method so they to could go and away practice there triads and get better at triads so that triads could become a mainstay in there painting armoury. So in short triad.
