This is cool but for dog boundary wires a key fact is the twisting of them back to the transmitter. The reason why this is done is to cancel out the signal so the dog doesn't get shocked over those lines and only the boundary lines. Nice explanation i believe though one can uses just a rj45 /rj11 wire tracer tool as well but could be wrong if depth is much deeper then a few inches in ground.
Kinda cheap with strapping an AM radio to a stick, don't ya think? Anyway, it worked. What I'd like to know is why the loop lights were lit even though there was a break in the wire. A 3 foot separation, not a simple "break", yet the lights were on and no alarm was sounding. Waisted money on a new collar thinking that was the issue.

I found it very difficult to tell the difference between the "intermittent beep" and the constant tone. I know that sounds ridiculous, and maybe my hearing is bad, but I really could not tell when the tone changed from one to another. There was always a constant tone and a beeping - needless to say I never found the break. Also, using plastic ties to strap on an AM/FM radio to a stick seemed a little backwoods for a company like PetSafe to sell as a kit. My suggestion is just to purchase and lay new line before spending $50 on this.
Pretty much agree, kinda cheap to zip tie an AM radio to a stick. Unfortunately I can not afford to rewire the whole 5+ acer yard, I borrowed the tester from my Father. When I do rewire it'll be with 14 gauge, not the cheap wire they sell.
