See just how quick and easy the Witter detachable flange towbar system is to insert and remove. Fitting securely in place, the towbar can be used with cycle carriers, coupling guides and many more towbar accessories
Mine won’t flick back 180 degrees - it gets to 90 degrees and stops. Feels solid but no green tab showing and can’t lock it as handle not in the right position to line up with the lock. If anyone has any ideas how I can free it I would be v grateful
Not as safe as you think it is. Remove the red Witter tap, undo the screw remove the handle and lock. Use a 11 mm spanner to turn the square tab. The tow bar drops out.
@@bobby4speed mine was rusted solid, I had to take the bumper off and hammer the silver locking pin (after removing the locking mechanism bits). Edit: it now works, even though I don't have the key etc. I just unscrew the handle to use it, and screw it back on when I want it locked. Fairly secure. I keep the plastic handle part because it shows the colour code position to confirm it's locked. Might be worth making a video some time.
Very poor design, from day one had problems with this. On removal the pin was sticking up but must be below the surface in order to fit it back on. Needed two people to get the pin in the right place using a soft copper mallet to get it back in with the other person jiggling the spring loaded lock pin so it was ready for refitting. i usually don’t lock it for trip to recycle centre but needed to do multiple trips and left it overnight in locked position but now its stuck and I cannot remove the tow hook.
This is just a bad design. I got this with my car and I am very unhappy with this. There are much better designs you can choose from. This gets dirty inside, doesn't come on/off so easily and it's heavy. Girls have problems fitting this in. I had different tow bar before and was much much easier.
