In this video, you will learn how to use the Worksharing Monitor for Revit. The worksharing monitor allows you to track who is working in your collaborative revit model as well as see what they are doing. Syncing is displayed in the progress bar to give you an idea who is sycing and if multiple are trying to at the same time. Always have this open to refer to when you sync. The sync history can be very helpful to determine who synced when and where problems may have started. You will be the master of the model with the worksharing monitor!
Please leave comments and questions below and I will get back to you!

It is difficult to find Revit tutorials on management tools and procedures. That was great!

Thank you for sharing great information! :) what can you say about this instructions working on Revit: 1. Have Worksharing Monitor on at all times. 2. Make a new local file at least twice daily! When you start and after lunch. 3. If you are not editing the model, you should be in a Detached Central, not in a local. 4. Save your local file every 30 minutes, Sync to Central every hour. 5. If you will be away from your desk for more than 15 minutes, save/sync and close. 6. Clear out Warnings regularly, it’s preferable daily but minimally once a week. thanks,

See my thoughts below: 1. Have Worksharing Monitor on at all times. I agree with this. 2. Make a new local file at least twice daily! When you start and after lunch. Once daily is fine. 3. If you are not editing the model, you should be in a Detached Central, not in a local. I would not necessarily recommend this just because you want to have the latest model and any change you happen to make in the detached model would have to be done twice. 4. Save your local file every 30 minutes, Sync to Central every hour. Sync as you need to, nothing wrong with this. 5. If you will be away from your desk for more than 15 minutes, save/sync and close. Syncing in this instance is fine but closing is a little overkill. Nothing wrong with it at all just a pain to reopen all the time. 6. Clear out Warnings regularly, it’s preferable daily but minimally once a week. I would dedicate this to the model manager and only deal with warnings that are quick or if there are a ton of the same warning types.

I detach a central file and make a new central of the detached file. Although it works fine I noticed that the sync button is yellow not green as it use to be. Is there any problem with that?

Thanks for sharing this info! Do you know if the WM shows only the users from one location (for projects that are worked from different offices). If I see only my user and I work on a functional central with others (and the others see only their users minus mine), can this be an indicator that maybe something is not ok in the project or with my 'connection' to the central?

The WM does not work for BIM360 models. If the project is hosted on a server other than BIM360, then regardless of where the users are, as long as they are in the same model, then the WM will work and show users. Regarding who sees what, you would see the user but if you see anything about central then that person should sync, get out of the central, and reopen with a new local file. Apart from that, it could be that the WM is not updating and it's best to close it and reopen. That's the best I got haha

What does it mean when someone's name is in grey on the monitor? And why does my "Last synced" time not get accurately updated?
@ArchitectureVanguard
@ArchitectureVanguard 4 года назад
Vera, I responded to you on the app but it does not seem to have gone through. Seeing someone's name in grey means they are in the model but do not have the worksharing monitor open. Those names in black do also have the worksharing monitor open. I use that a lot so I can then message those in grey and have them open it. As far as the last synced, the time can sometimes be hit or miss. I try to go off of the status, be it sync completed, sync failed, etc. and the order in which this happens for people. You can better troubleshoot where a problem began based on the sync order. Hope that answered both your questions.

Can u answer this.... four to five members working on central model file and when we open worksharing monitor it shows nothing.. shows only file name🤔

I’ve seen this a lot in that the worksharing monitor either has issues updating or simply doesn’t not update based on what is current. I honestly do not fully trust worksharing monitor but simply use it as a go by. You might restart it and see if it updates correctly then.
