For Windows 10 there is one extra thing you may need to do otherwise the H2 will appear as a device in settings but won't transfer any audio. In the AUDIO i/F menu, before using CONNECT, you need to go into FREQUENCY first and check it is set to 48kHz not 44.1 kHz, otherwise it appears as a device but doesn't work as a mic. Took me ages to discover this! If you are using your H2 into a DAW like Cakewalk you may have to set it up as the selected input device (instead of your normal interface) and set the driver mode to WASAPI SHARED if it is previously set to ASIO. It will then appear in your inputs selection just like an interface and you can select Left Right or Stereo to go to your recorded track
How lucky that I found this comment! I've looked at several other sources of information and followed their instructions without success because of this one stupid setting that NOBODY ELSE THINKS OF MENTIONING!
To those who are complaing about the feedback, you need to turn down your volume on your computer external mic input (not just your Zoom). At least this worked for me (Ubuntu 14)
You can do most of this in the H4. Its also a 4-Track Recorder! Listen to the backing track (headphones connected to H4) and record a track. I am thinking about avoiding latency problems in some audio I/O setups. Reverb and compression are settings available on the H4. H4n is a great improvement!
Excellent tutorial - I wish you had used a screen recorder to record what you were doing in the software. But all in all I got the gist of it. I have the H2N and I will test out using it as an audio interface.
I absolutely love this little piece of music you made during the demo. Would be great if you could share the piece in its entirety or even put it up for sale. I am more than happy to pay for something this nice. Thanks.
HI thanks for this video. However, I have the latest version of Garageband 10.0.3 and while I can connect the soon H2 to the computer and drag the backing tracking, I cannot hear anything from the speakers on the computer or from headphones. Any suggestions? Have you tried this with the new Garageband? Many thanks again
Jaw drop saxophone at the beginning, thanks. If the Zoom H2 monitor output is plugged into an amplifier, could the Zoom H2 then be used as a performance (low volume busking with a loop station and reverb pedals) microphone? I know it's a clunky concept, but for my ultra budget a Zoom H2 seems to fulfill several needs at once, a nice digital recorder with decent microphones; a microphone (on monitor setting and plugged into an amplifier) and a usb microphone as illustrated in your video.
@crazydaisydoo I purchased the Zoom H1. My PC is so noisy I can't really use a USB interface. I'm used to taking wavs into Audacity and visually editing and mixing. The audio quality will be equal to the Zoom H2. I'm really looking forward to getting luscious saxophone recordings and taking the Zoom H1 outside for river noises, birds singing at 3am, slopping high tides and my Zoom H1 is in the post. Had a very nice gig today with the trio :-)
Hi, I'm using an H2 on a Mac book pro with iShowU HD and am getting a problem with playback; it sounds like a chipmunk. And it breaks out randomly into distortion. Any ideas.
hi!! i just bought my zoom h2 and i would like to make some home recordings with garage band,.. but,,.. can i plug right to the zoom h2 already connected to the laptop a bassguitar or a keyboard?,.. or its better plug them right to the laptop... can you help me? i dont want to damage my recorder,..
@@AlexArsu This seriously sucks for a lot of uses. Any news about other Zoom models in that regard? If I go dumpster-diving, it would be great to be able to hunt for something more suitable for use with Jamulus.
have you found a answer to your question, i just bought my h2n, and recognized the same feedback in high gain levels. strange. where does the feedback comming from. ( i hear the feedback when i listen with headphones.
@crazydaisydoo I understand you wishing for a nice clean band channel away from the You Tube celebrity of crazydaisydo and all this entails (lots of questions and comments). I may look at clipping a Zoom H2 to my sax bell as an effects microphone (I dabble in digital delay and looping and want to develop a live set-up) but I shall examine Peavey dynamic mics and others too, but they need a pre-amp and I'd rather carry a Zoom H2 than a mini mixer. I'm convincing myself to buy another bit of gear.
Ok now I reached the endpoint. WHY, WHY THE HELL, Google directs me, ALL THE TIMES, to videos with NO SOUND??? Don't post videos with no sound, this is pointless! Just write instructions on a web page instead? Cannot host web pages? Then post on a Blogger blog or WordPress. Google now directs only to videos with no sound, systematically, all the times. I am just blocked, cannot figure out anything. WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT ON ME??????
