Excellent explanation, I always struggle setting decals so I have bought all three solutions. Hopefully with this video and these solutions I can improve this stage of the hobby. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this video Paul. Been waiting a while for this. I do have all three solutions from you and the holder. I was still using Microsol as was a bit unsure as to what strenghts of solutions to use and when. Now you have made it clear. Another well explained video as always. Can't wait to start using them. Thanks again mate.

Paul, excellent demonstration! I was hoping you would have left the second blue shrunk decal on the corner of the bumper, where you originally placed it! It is not very hard to place decals when they bend in 1 or 2 directions, but when you get a 3rd or 4th direction, then trouble begins! And unfortunately, for bike builds, you will find yourself in this situation more often than not. Two bikes/situations that come to mind (although there are more!!) are the Tamiya’s RC110 fairing (the white number background on the front) (other older bikes have the same issue, like the YZR500’s from the 80’s), and the second is the NSR500 Movistar, with the many, many markings throughout, including the GIGANTIC tank top decal that bends in 4 different directions! I would LOVE to see you apply something like that with your solutions👍🏼🤓🧐😉😁

Paul do you clean the brush after each Application before you use next one up. And how does it affect the brush in between coats cheers Steve. Ps sorry for sounding dumb but what dose the decal solution actually do. I’ve only used Vallejo medium once and had no time to move it. Memory and brain not good after strokes thanks
@InternationalScaleModeller
@InternationalScaleModeller 5 лет назад
The decal solutions soften the decal allowing it to conform/mold to and around details. I dip the brush in my decal water to rinse it off and it doesn't bother the brush at all

@InternationalScaleModeller
@InternationalScaleModeller 2 года назад
As with any acid solutions. Don’t leave then to pool up on the paint or decal

Hi Paul, i just bought the set. Do the sollutions harm acryllic paint? With tamiya mark fit strong i get white spots on tamiya gloss acryllic paint.
@InternationalScaleModeller
@InternationalScaleModeller 2 года назад
Just dont let any decal solutions stay pooled up in droplets on the paint and you should be fine, the extra is very strong so caution is needed as with any other strong decal solutions

I noticed a video on, shall we say "another channel," that decided to demonstrate it is not necessary to gloss coat before decaling if one used a setting solutions that was man enough. He put down a decal onto a piece of 400 grit sandpaper using your extra strong solution. Anyway, I appreciate you won't want to divulge exactly what is in your products, but those of us who've used Set and Sol (incidentally, I've always thought of as "setter" and "solvent") know that Set smells like vinegar (acetic acid) and the Sol smells of - er I dunno, I've seen it variously reported and "alcohols" and even "formaldehyde." Are your products formulated more like the Set or the Sol? Cheers.
@InternationalScaleModeller
@InternationalScaleModeller 3 года назад
Yes I know the video. Our solutions are actual setting solutions the normal is a tad stronger than micro sol our strong is a tad stronger that solvaset and our extra strong is stronger again. Micro set is just to get the decal in place imo and isnt as important in the process

@@InternationalScaleModeller - Cool: I've recently managed to pour another bottle of Sol all over my carpet (I reckon I'm averaging 90% hits the carpet, 10% makes it onto a model over the years,) so I need a replacement and I think I'll give yours a go. Cheers.

@@davecardboard9567 excellent we do a holder for ours to avoid spills :)
@2kidsnosleep
@2kidsnosleep 5 лет назад
So if you buy the three solutions but not the holder b/c you know you won't ever spill the bottles 'cause you are soooo careful... and then spill the extra strong onto the bench first try does this make you cheap, a dumbass OR a cheap-dumbass??? Bottle holder is ordered and on route as I write.
