Thanks for tuning in! This is a quick tutorial for setting up and using Universal Audio virtual channels with your Apollo interface and Mac. We'll cover how to process your macOS audio through Console, apply inserts, and record it directly into your DAW. Also, we'll set up virtual channels as an audio input that can be used for software like OBS, Discord, and Loopback.

Good info, thanks! The black thing in the corner is quite distracting from this technical information.

Thank you for your feedback! I was trying out some audiograms and you’re right- best to have those in “less busy” parts of the video.

this is the only video that addresses the I/O Matrix swaps. Good stuff

Thank you for your comment and support! The I/O matrix is super important to set up for your specific use case scenarios, especially if you’re working with hardware inserts in Pro Tools. Love my Apollo!

I've been struggling with this issue for SO LONG and this is the first video I've seen that actually helped me get to the solution. Thank you so, so much.

How can I get the output of my DAW into my monitor speakers that are connected to my Apollo? I only managed to get the output of Console in my monitors :/

Hey man this is s super helpful! I'm setting up for livestreaming and followed this video exactly. Everything seems to work but when I record in ableton the metronome is getting baked into the audio. I'm also unable to monitor any effects I add in my DAW without turning on monitoring in Ableton, which just makes the problem worse. Any idea how to fix this? I'm on a macbook m1 max, with apollo twin mk2, running console. Thanks!!

Hi Axel! I don't use Ableton often, but I found this link that might be helpful: help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209770605-How-to-route-the-Metronome-to-a-second-output In regards to routing that through the Apollo, you could use Virtual channels 1-2 as your main or master output, then use Virtual 3 and/or 4 (mono or stereo) as your "metronome out" and have it live on it's own fader in Console. This is all theoretical since I don't own Ableton to test it out, but I hope it points you in the right direction to solve your issue. I have the same setup and I'm absolutely loving my M1 Max MBP. How do you like yours? Thanks so much for your support, Axel!

Thanks for letting me know! One question, did you hide the blue [UA] icon in the menu bar? I would like to hide it too. Please let me know how to do that if you don't mind. Thank you.

Hey fellow bassist! Thanks for your support 🤘🏻 I’m using an app called Bartender to hide a lot of extra menu bar items that I don’t need regularly (like the UA icon). They’re still accessible, just all organized behind a single icon and pop out when you want them. Hope this helps!

this is awesome! Your videos helped solve a bunch of issues I was having! thank you so much Do you know if theres a way to have discord output to a separate virtual channel on UAD Console from the macbook speakers? I'd love to have a fader in console for discord output chat volume but also be able to control my chrome/system volume separately...

I'm weighing a MOTU 1248 to an Apollo x6. I love the ability to apply effects by channel on the x6. I love the simplicity of I/O routing in the MOTU. In the MOTO, I see inputs horizontally across the top and outputs vertically down the left. I simply click the cell to connect any input to any output. I can have multiple inputs routed to a single input or a single input routed to multiple outputs. Every input and output is distinct (not like Antelope Audio where phones 1 is combined with monitor 1 & 2). I also do this via an app provided by MOTU; not the DAW. Based on this video, I'm still confused on how I can use Console to route a single input to multiple outputs or multiple inputs to a single output. I'm a Cubase 12 Pro user. Seems to route I/O in the x6, I would need to figure out how to accomplish this in Cubase.

Can you record to protools and stream to obs or e camm at the same time?

Is there a way to do this to record zoom audio, or am I forced to get that software that’s like $200. Haven’t check for a while so it might be cheaper than that
@JP_Audio
@JP_Audio Год назад
Absolutely! If you’re using Pro Tools, check out my video about Aux I/O which will let you output your Zoom audio directly to Pro Tools. If not, make your Virtual 1-2 the first two outputs in your Console I/O Matrix. Set your Apollo as the output in Zoom and it will be routed to that pair of virtual channels, where you can use it as the input for an audio channel in your DAW. I hope this helps, thanks for your support!

thanks a lot, great video. I did this right away. Do you know of any solution to set the master volume for the headphones(like the big know on the x2) with the mouse or mac keyboard? best wishes from Berlin
@JP_Audio
@JP_Audio Год назад
So sorry for the late response, Frank! Unfortunately, there’s no way to do this natively with the built in headphone output. The only ‘simple’ solution I could think of would be to use another headphone amp with the line outputs of the Apollo. Then you could control the volume you’re sending out to that headphone amp in Console. Hope this helps, and thanks for your support!

very nice, but absolute not working on my MacStudio running latest system, no peaks on the Virtual Channel, and no audio and peaks in protools

I'm on a new MacStudio running Pro Tools. I've got audio going to the virtual channel in console, but no audio in DAW. Hmmm.
