I sit and wait patiently for new videos. Love you guys, you've already taught me so much and my skin is so grateful. Do you guys plan on making a video about diet and how food affects your skin??
Beauty Within hi girls thanks for the video. Just a quick question. I use tatcha violet vitamin c serum. So if I want to add retinol can I use it with vitamin c serum. Or I should skip vitamin c on those day I use vitamin A
Great question! I would definitely only use retinol at night, and so vitamin C is a very effective free radical scavenger and so works great in the daytime (with sunscreen). So if you're using the violet c from Tatcha at night, yes I would recommend you alternate the nights you use both 😊Hope this helps girl! 😘- fel
Beauty Within 😘 thank you so much. After your recommendation I purchased Paul’s choice 1% retinol. Going to start it as soon it arrives. Although I am nearly 40yrs . I feel bad I did not use this earlier. But never mind I don’t have any wrinkles so far. But it’s never too late.
You didn’t mention that if you’re pregnant or nursing to NOT use retinol. I didn’t know that until I started researching skin care treatments when I had horrible hormonal acne during my pregnancy
Also keep in mind to stop using vitamin A products for at least a month or two before starting to get pregnant. If you’re using oral vitamin A it’s up to 6 months.
Count Roy the sun makes your skin worse and your darkspots also it ages you faster so sunscreen prevents that . There are different sunscreens some are white some are clear
@Count Roy I'd recommend using it before then! If you look young now and you're not using sunscreen, using sunscreen alongside a skincare routine can help keep your skin that way as you get older and prevent it from showing the signs of aging! Of course, your skin will age, but you can significantly slow down the process with sunscreen and a skincare routine!
Y’all make sure you’re eating foods high in vitamin A as well! This includes bell peppers (all kinds of peppers really...) and carrots, (like they said already!) Consuming proper vitamins and minerals is just as important as topical skin care ☺️♥️ Peace babes! ☮️
It's so much more important to actually understand what's happening behind the products, and how they can work for us, or how they can be used negatively. When we understand how it works we can start enjoying experimenting and testing skincare the right way! 😋so glad you're enjoying the vids, thank you so much we love and appreciate you! 😘- fel
I have found that foundation makes me more insecure. By the evening I can have flaky/splotchy skin caused by my rosacea. So this channel is a goldmine for me!!!! Love you guys ❤️❤️❤️
You're always giving us important information that we need, this is what RU-vid is all about, telling and teaching others what you know . thank you....😘
For all those who have asked in the comments..... yes you can use a toner before retinol. However, most skins will tolerate a non acidic toner best. Yes you can follow it with serum, moisturizer or oil, especially if you have sensitized skin. The regime should be to cleanse skin thoroughly, pat skin completely dry, non acidic toner ONLY IF YOU NEED IT, layer of RETINOL, then a serum or oil IF YOU NEED IT.. which you will only if your skin is naturally dry, sensitive/irritated, or dehydrated. Mild cleanser [milk, balm, cream types] in the morning. ...follow with your serums, and moisturizer, and FINISH always with sun screen if it is not in a HIGH spf in your moisturizer.
I will never have skin like this and I wish I did. I’m 31 and I have never had nice skin. Always break outs, always reactive, large pores and now I’m aging. It sucks.
Oh hun try retin A and vitamin c ( 2 creams) from MastoorA beauty. They have aloe vera, cucumber and tumeric face gel for problem skin and if you buy it with the retin A you get a discount
@@DemiandDavid04 it's never too late to start. I only started like 7-8 years ago and I'm in my mid 50s and I've seen much improvement. Start now where you are, you won't regret it.
Wear sunscreen everyday!! Make sure it’s a good and anti acne causing one. I would also suggest retinol and vitamin c serum. I’m really struggling rn and I think I’m gonna do accutane:/ do whatever is best for you!
I'd suggest you look at mastoorabeauty.com they have aloe vera tumeric and cucumber face gel for acne and retin A. The tumeric in the aloe vera kills the bacteria they also have a Daghmous honey which is like a natural antibiotic if you read about it. Hope that helps
My skin has improved so much since I started to actually educate myself on ingredients. My next step is introducing retinoids. My skin used to purge so much with all the actives but now my skin has calmed down and seems to like the active ingredients and new moisturiser :)
@@sidraaslam3315 I would recommend the ordinary, cerave, tropic skin care and face theory as good brands to use. I would say everyone's skin is different so you need to find what works for you. I tend to use a natural toner followed by a moisturiser and a bit of oil mixed in. Then sometimes I will use a serum before my moisturiser but not always.
Hiii! Yes we're going to be doinig a 'basic skincare routine' video, where we break down what teenagers should be focusing on. This will be out in 2-3 weeks! Stay tuned! 😍 - fel
Granactive retinol Is retinol just weaker then let’s say a prescription Retinol. The difference is the percentage I believe. Also, you have to built your retinol tolerance. You shouldn’t start using prescription right of the bat because skin will react to it so staring with ordinary retinol is best then slowly go higher in percentage as you go.
I've been doing 'research' to retinol and how to use it for a few months now and this is the greatest video that I came across^^ I feel ready to start using it now. Oh, and something completely off topic: Felicia, you've got a very cute smile 🤭💖
@@BeautyWithin Mam,I have no acne problems; but skin is very dry; have wrinkles & becoming dull; specially during winters.. Which type of cream should I opt?? Pls reply
actually oilier skin they tend not to age early than normal/sensitive and dry skin so your lucky! niacinamide ingredients works great without drying your skin.
Omg I’ve been using retionids since I was 16 and now I am 19. The first year it has made my skin clear completely from my acne but ever since I started college I broke out again and now is clearing up again. Mine is the lowest percentage of Retionids and got it from my dermatologist. I used to put it on my whole face at night daily but now only spot concealed. I saw someone put it on their whole face and neck to delay their aging so idk if that’s safe or what. But it works for them
I use tretinoin 0.025 and I defiantly slowly got my skin use to it because my previous dermatologist gave me retin-a 0.075 and my skin wouldn’t stop shedding and peeling and she never told me to use hydrating products so it was really Bad. this time around I started low and slow and used lots of hydrating products and the results are 100% better with no peeling (but it does dry the skin so all the hydrating products help!)
So I feel like I need a retinol, niacinamide, and vit C but do you think having them all is necessary? Maybe after doing the ABC videos you guys could do a video on how to incorporate all three, plus an exfoliant, in a weekly routine? Just seems like there aren't enough days in the week to alternate retinol, vitamin C, and AHA's/BHA's
Dear Beauty Within team, I do hope you read this. I have concerns about Retinol and the Hayflick Limit. Please hear me out. Since each and every one of our cells has a limit to the number of times they can split and renew themselves - Hayflick Limit. Won't retinol speed up aging over time since it prematurely makes the cell to divide faster?? There are many conflicting articles on this and many of them are assuring but not conclusive. Please do consider making a video on this topic. Thank you.
So my skin care routine at night is cleansing, toner, vitamin C serum, niacinamide, then lastly moisturizer. If I wanted to include retinol, in what order should I include it?
I often hear from skincare you tubers that it would be more beneficial to use the vitamin c in the morning because it helps fight free radicals(which are from uv from the sun) and then follow up with a sunscreen. And then at night use the retinol because it’ll make ur skin more sensitive. But I’m not any professional at all just watch a lot of hyram, Susan Yara and beauty within lol.
Can u please talk about how we can have smooth skin and one colour skin i mean reduced pigmentation in the body . How we can take care of our body skin . Thanks alot
I used a retinol cream once with a dime-sized bit of the cream and it burned into my skin as if I had been out in the sun for weeks without sunscreen. Afterwards I read the bottle to only apply a LITTLE BIT i first time uses and apply every other day for the first two weeks, because applying a lot every day will burn your skin if you have sensitive skin like me. After I introduced it slowly into my skin routine, it really cleared away a lot of acne scarring and helped moisturize. Just know when and how to add new things into your beauty routine :)
no need. it will not stay on the skin long enough in any real concentration to be effective as retinol should. the glow tonic or any other acid toner will give a better result.
Hiii I really love this channel for beauty info. It’s very professional and concisely explained. However, as an optometrist, I just want to mention that vitamin A in carrot doesn’t help eye sight directly. The vitamins A that the eye need is actually internal converted. Thus the carrot we eat need to be broken down to basics molecule before it get rebuilt back in the eyes. The main vitamins needed for macula is lutein. I think it’s great you guys doing these video but please don’t confuse the public even more, as we have already been taught the wrong info for decades if not centuries.
@@azemkajoshaj1234 Look through the comments, literally too many to count. Retinol is a great ingredient but take this video with a BIG grain of salt on the science "facts" they covered.
hnljojoilbvtgfyvgub everything they’ve mentioned i’ve heard before somewhere else as well. The only thing they probably got wrong was the classification of the terms which is not that serious.
@@azemkajoshaj1234 Yeah everything they mentioned you heard somewhere else bc they just googled a bunch of things then got the terms and other points wrong. That was my point.
what do you think about the olehenriksen new dark spot toner (aha) and their new transform plus line (retinol based). They seems should use together…¿ or if they are to strong
I love your videos and the science behind skincare! I learned basic skincare and science with my cosmetology license. Talking to my esthetician friends and they have me thinking about going back for an esthetician license. Your videos inspire me for sure! I'm Korean and live by the Korean skincare routine! I've been using Korean and Japanese skincare for years. I'm excited to see more products hit shelves in the US! Can't wait to see more recommendations from you beauties! Would you be willing to do a summer skin video or your skincare and makeup routines? Much love from Buffalo, NY🥰
You should try retin A and vitamin c MastoorA beauty have a dale on it now and that's what I use. They have an article about why it's important to use retin A while your still young Retin a is better then retinol.
@@yuurioholland8243 I would advise you to contact the website and ask them because they know better. I sent them a picture and they gave me a discount.
At 16 may be start from Niacinamide. It used to work great for my teen skin. My skin glowed back then. Then at early twenties you can incorporate vit C/A whichever you like. Mid 20's must start retinol.
@@Sam-nl3mz thank you so much for replying. I am currently using niacinamide but tho it did make me glow, it doesn't Remove the hyperpigmentation so I am thinking about adding alpha arbutin or l ascorbic acid into my routine
OMG, I stumbled upon your channel and love it. The content is so informative and topical. Thank you! You both sound like you have a bit of an Australian accent, mixed with a bit of something else. Are you based in AUS?
On the nights when using the retinol do you still use toner, serum and face oil? Or do you only use this with a moisturizer and no other products? My skin just recently freaked out and was irritated and itchy and tight and I did some research and realized my skin barrier was broken. So I’m in the process of fixing this, but will eventually slowly start incorporating other products. Just want to make sure I use this right and don’t cause another freak out for my skin. You guys should do a video on how to fix the skin barrier and once it’s fixed how to incorporate products into your routine again! You girls are awesome! ❤️ thank you for all of the amazing info!
I would still go with your serums, oils, and toner (preferably hydrating because retinol can be a tad drying). I would introduce the retinol every other night.
you may use all of the products you mentioned while using retinol. However, retinol must be applied FIRST to the skin after it is cleansed and dry. With your particular skin concerns I would follow it up shortly after application with a very mild thick serum and or thick facial oil. your skin will thank you
Do NOT use toners with retinoids or vitamin a. A lot of toners have alcohol and will make your skin dry out and be really irritated when mixed with retinoids. But you can use hydrated serums and oils defiantly
I am 29 years old and I started using ROC about 1 month ago. I mix it with my moisturizer and use it like Felicia recommended (two nights on, followed by two nights off). After just a week of usage, I found so much difference in my skin (so much brighter, glowy and looks oh so healthy). Best part? I don't break out as bad as I used to due to hormones before my menstrual cycle! I just can't stop raving about it!!! 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️
I love the night time retinol from Paula's choice. I always used to get over sensitised by the ordinary's and dry, but this one is amazing and when nothing else helps my acne or dark spots, I see tiny differences after using this every single day which is incredible.
I started using 0.05% tretinoin for adult acne in my mid 20s. Its acutally beneficial for younger people with excessive oil production and acne scars as well. Double benefits as it combats ageing
Really informative . And I like the way you guys edited the video that's make me wanna continue watching till the end. And yeah plus both of you are gorgeous.Keep up the good work. Peace
I love your videos, I honestly learn something new every time . Now that I’m pushing 40 I’ve been considering Using Retin -A , but didn’t know where to begin. Thank you for the breakdown ,loves.
Love retinol! I am using the DE vegan retinol! Haven’t had any horrible side effects using it and I have been implementing it everyday into my routine now! ❣️
It definitely doesn't look good all the time, we also go through pretty bad breakouts and we both suffered from acne. But it's about learning the ways to properly deal with it internally as well as with the products that we use, it just remember the imperfections we see are all natural 😊- fel
Luda .Aries I’m not sure about niacinamide but I do know vitamin C n retinol shouldn’t be used at the same time but you can use it the same day at different times ...Vitamin C in the morning n Retinol at night
But but but what do I do when I’m applying moisturizer and foundation and my skin starts rolling off? Should I be exfoliating with a physical exfoliator or just rub the skin away??
I wish you talked little more about the % as there was a lot the highest and lowest % and in future to mention about the purity of retinol and the actual % like for example the new Sunday Riley A+ retinoid serum claims on the packaging 6.5% for someone who doesn't know much about retinol u actually getting 0.7% of the vitamin A... so very confusing subject. Is it good to use a blend or the pure retinol? X x x
I used to never have acne when I was in high school I had an oily tzone and had blackheads on my nose and I would get one pimple on my nose or forehead every couple of months and I would put a spot treatment on it and it would go away. I’m 19 and last year my skin started acting up a little more than often and then I went vegan for like the 3 months and my skin was never the same😩 My skin is pretty bad especially in my forehead and chin and I had a couple of spots on my left cheek. I’m not vegan but I don’t eat meat or dairy products other than Greek yogurt and activia occasionally but I eat healthy. I don’t know what to do I feel like I’ve wasted all this money on everything medicated and natural but nothing works and I’m so frustrated idk what to do anymore I’ve always struggled with my insecurity but this made it 100 times worst 😞
Which country is your video from? E.g. apalene it's not available where I am. And prescription Retninols we get from a doctor/ physician or General practitioners (G.P.) I didn't realise people start so young with retinol (under 30?) I would think over 35 would be suitable but depends on ethnicity or how fast a person skin ages. Wow starting so young means you have so many years of adding all these concoction of chemicals to skin..there may be cumulative effects.. Be interesting to check back on this video when you're 40 to check results.
ladies, your videos are great! comprehensive, full of information and entertaining! I've started to follow some of your tips and I already see the results. thank you, please keep going
Super informative! Hope you guys get around to explaining vitamin E to eventually. Question. So, using retinol isn't the same as chemical exfoliation? I was kinda looking at it like that and hence using the retinol once a week only (in place of my weekly exfoliation using the Drunk Elephant's Sukari Babyfacial). But I can't exfoliate AND use retinol at the same time in one night? That's confusing. Well. At least I've figured out one thing. Seems I can build up to using the retinol far more frequently throughout the week than I thought I could.
Definitely not the same and definitely don't do them both together at the same time. They do work hand-in-hand though. Think of the retinol as encouraging new, plump, beautiful layers of skin to come to the surface, and then the exfoliation sweeps away the dead skin cells that get left behind. It's just too harsh to use both products on the same day - you'll end up with very dry and irritated skin. I did it once by accident and thought my face was going to burn off.
I think my face is alright because of the amount of attention I give it but the rest of my body is just completely dead. Is there any body products you guys can recommend in general? I appreciate this channel very much! Thank you !! 💗
Beauty Within Yes. My arms and legs always look so dull. I use a Vaseline lotion but it somehow ends up fading away and that’s when my skin looks dry. I really don’t know what else to do with my body except use lotion lol
Hi ladies! I would love to hear your opinions on this.. so I’m 24 and I’ve been using the drunk elephant a passioni retinol for a little over 2 months now. I’ve only been able to use it one time a week, by day 3 I’m peeling for the next couple days. I’ve tried boosting it to two times a week but that obviously made it worse. I’ve also tried all the moisturizer methods with it. I’m more than happy to stick it out because I know skincare takes time. But I feel like since I’m only able to use it once a week it’s not consistent enough to even get the results. What do you ladies suggest I do? Keep going? Try another retinol? Thanks for all you do I’ve learned so much!
Use a good occlusive moisturizer 20min before applying retinol, like aveeno or ceraVe. Oil cleanse and dont rub your skin with cloths and cottons. I wouldn|t recommend ever using retinol because its really weak, expensive, and doesnt do much. Tretinoin is the best, in the video they said it does the same thing as retinol which is absolutely incorrect. I suggest watching dr.dray channel :)
Hi, I just received my first tube of renin a (0.025) and was wondering if i can apply moisturizer after washing , wait 30 min then mix my retin a with more moisturizer, apply, let soak in then apply my tacha face oil. xo
Hi guys, I just want to say I love your videos so much and you guys have great information! I have sensitive combo skin, so I was wondering if using retinol was safe if I use an all natural exfoliating toner (pixi brand) or would using an exfoliating toner be too harsh on my skin if I'm using retinol at the same time? (I'm 25)
Just to change the subject, at around the 7.55 video timeline, I noticed you have a light switch on a tiled wall, that appears to be inside the bathroom area, near a shower curtain? If correct, this can be dangerous, if condensation builds up on the actual wall light switch itself, particularly when taking a shower. Wall light switches should always be placed outside the bathroom. French singer-songwriter, Claude François, was electrocuted, because of a light fixture that he came in contact with, whilst having a shower. When in doubt, please seek a qualified electrician. Above all ladies, stay safe and beautiful...💕
I am so happy for this video!!! So I assume that you shouldn't use retinol and any kind oh aha/bha at the same evening? I'm madly in love with the dr.dennis gross alpha beta moisturizer and think I have to use them separately... Will start to build a routine schedule like Felicia and Mia did :) And by the way... Mia looks like 20 I'm freakin' out omg :D Mia, can you please tell us your general skin care routine?
Can you use both a Vitamin A and Vitamin C serum at the same time? I don't use Retinol at all but need to start incorporating it. I use The Ordinary's Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% at night but want to add a Retinol to put on at night as well.
M 33 I just started using it , I have dry skin , but after using it my chin and lip area covered with pimples . I think I used too much 🥺 . M not using it from the last 2 weeks . Should I stop using it 😫
If you used it gradually throughout a series of three months then it won’t do that but if you used it gradually and it does that then you might need to change the brand or go for a lower % for example 0.1 then increase the % as your skin gets used to it
Also research the order in which you should use it with the products you have been using it with. Because I think it should just be used with a gentle cleanser followed by moisturizer then retinol then moisturizer
OMG i was about to leave a comment about this, retinol gave me rosacea too... it clears up my acnes and my skin looks good with just a little bit of bb cream to cover the redness, but it can be so sensitive at times, esp in the summer..
I put sunscreen as part of my makeup routine but I dont reapply cuz I have mad foundation on my face lol..... How do you reapply sunscreen when you have makeup on?? (Not a current problem due to quarantine but in the future I def need some help)
Use retinol first after you’ve cleansed and dried your skin and then use the other products - making sure they don’t contain alcohols or are drying, you need to use more hydrating products.
