I know a lot of you are fed up with some of the File Managers for Android there are out there and the either lack of functions or too complicated. I will show you the one I find that works best for me and hopefully you too.

30 years of IT, never seen any app do it this way... first select the goal, then find file and select move... instead of select file first, then go to goal and paste............. spend half an hour trying to figure it out, how annoying

How can you move the file from download folder to the root storage ? I can't see the option to change the location when moving file around

I was trying to create a New Folder on a USB stick using this app. Kept getting message that it couldn't create the folder. I made sure I was in Superuser mod but still didn't work.

Even with superuser be sure that you give write permissions on the stick.

When I click disk map, am I supposed to be able to go in a see the folders it scanned and be able to delete stuff or is it just for me to see what it scanned?

You would think so, but I have tried and could not. They say it's just to show at a glance and then use the regular file system to enter that section you want to see.

So you essentially install the xplore app on BOTH the storage stick and the firestick/chromecast? And you can add it to a desktop (and I'm guessing ipad/tablet) as well if you want to transfer between all of them? If it works I'll thumb up and subscribe.

Hi John, that's not what I said but yes you can install xplore on all devices listed, you can then use the xplore add on (extra cost one device) say for your computer to manage and transfer files back and forth to the listed device.

sounds like a permissions problem through android issue, now some boxes may limit activity on their boxes.

On the Nvidia the first external was on there as a system storage and then the 5tb one I plug in at will and the X-plore see's it like a computer would.

Great video, but you did not explain if the USB for the Fire TV Stick 4K needs to be formatted by a computer or by the Amazon Fire Stick 4K and which type of format to use if that is the case. Price for the application is it a one time payment or a monthly payment of $5.00 USD? I want to be able to use the USB on my computer add files (Movies & Music) and then use them on my Fire TV Stick 4K, which format do I use? Thanks!

How to access the recycle bin

X-plore offers recycle bin function, which allows to recover deleted files. Due to technical limitations how Android works, this function is available only for device’s internal mass-memory storage (not on removable memory cards). The recycle bin may be enabled in Configuration. When enabled, the recycle bin folder appears automatically as special folder in Internal storage (if it is not empty). It is also possible to configure it so that Recycle bin folder is hidden, and displayed only when you choose to show hidden files. Only files deleted in X-plore are placed into its Recycle bin. Any files that you delete outside of X-plore won’t be saved there.

I temporarily added a LAN share but when I wanted to remove the saved credentials (user, pwd) I was unable. After searching the online documentation without results, I reinstalled the app which solved the issue. An alternative method to achieve this would be great, any recommendations? (contrary to the documentation X-plore on Google Chromecast does include ads however, it does states this in the chromecast app installer)

Nice video. My question is on the "Donate 3 Beers". I donated 3 beers while using X-plore 4.27 on a Samsung Tablet( it is fully activated). Is the donation only good for the device which you donated from. I.E. can I also somehow use this purchase with say a FireStick4k? Otherwise is "3 beers donation" only good for one device? This was done via the "in app purchase" I wish to use on my phone, tablet and firestick without having to make multiple purchases. I downloaded X-plore for the Firestick from Amazon and the X-plore for the Tablet via the in app purchase(Google Play?).

Yes only one device but if there was a mistake and you want it on another device then contact them and see if they will take care of you.

Does anyone have this dilemma? I have one Firestick w/OTG cable and 16GB Sandisk USB, one Firestick with UGreen USB hub ethernet connected and 16GB Sandisk USB. I've downloaded Xplore on both and am unable to see Device Storage. I can format for External storage and the USB's show up in Xplore. I've tried everything I know to do, but at this point I have no solution.

@@CouchPotatoCafe Thanks, CPC! I believe I have it figured out. External storage WILL show in Xplore, but Device storage won't because it is set to 'private'. I can, however, move apps in Xplore to the USB and confirm the move by looking at manage applications and confirming I see the USB icon. CordCutters has just the video to explain this process.

i have firestick 4kmax, I installed xplore and have several apps that show on they are installed on my usb drive that i have on the ogb cable. However, in xplore I do not see my "264 usb disk drive"/ I see on your video your Samsung usb drive shows. So i assume when you move files from the left side to the right side they are going in the usb drive. When i move files from the left to the right i think it is still staying in internal storage because my internal space is decreasing. How do i get my usb drive to show so i can move the picture folders and files into them (external storage)? Really could use your help.

Go to your settings on the firestick under storage and add the USB device and be sure it's writable and if you do not see the usb drive be sure the OGB cable is a good one, I went through two new ones that did not work.

@@CouchPotatoCafe On my tv when I go into My Fire TV and go to usb drive I see 244 gb of 245 gb external storage available. In Manage Installed Applications I show certain apps with the usb hub logo next to it such as Netflix, Chess, VLC, etc. But when I go into xplore I only see Internal Shared Storage of 892mb/5GB. I do not see my external storage or usb drive. What am I doing wrong? How can I get this to show so I can transfer a bunch of pictures and family videos into it?

Yeah Google has some pretty good protection on their proprietary software and devices, you might get in touch with X-plore support where they may have a patch for it

To extract files using X-plore File Manager, follow these steps: 1. Open X-plore File Manager on your Android device. 2. Navigate to the folder containing the compressed file you want to extract. 3. Tap and hold the compressed file until a menu appears. 4. Select “Extract” from the menu. 5. Choose a destination folder for the extracted files. 6. Tap “OK” to start the extraction process.

Don't know if you covered this but have you ever gotten an open with list when trying to install an APK? How do I install this file? Any help or comment welcomed.

The issue happens with an incorrect HTTP header. If the request has the right Content-Type header: application/vnd.android.package-archive, the APK will be installed correctly. Not knowing if you are using a web browser to control x-plore or if you are trying to open a apk directly through the app. You could try to install from another file program and check permissions on your files.

Highlight the files you want to transfer long press the select button on the remote and it will show copy, move etc then choose the usb drive

Can I SIMPLY setup firestick on on side and external files USB on the other side and just move the files side to the other by just drag and drop? You should make a video on how to do this without add a bunch of other things.

OK but, where/how do I find the Fire Stick (FS) storage and the USB exterior storage so I can move files from the FS to the USB? I understand I can move some of the FS apps.

Well, that was useless. What is the difference between the left side and right side? Where is the external storage drive vs the FIRESTICK storage. Easy for you , but looks like a lot of steps were left out

Wow okay, sorry about that here is a full manual that may help www.lonelycatgames.com/docs/xplore As far as which is which the firestick is the one that says storage/emulated or click on Root and the one that says Samsung USB Drive is the external storage. the two panels is for dealing with separate storage etc. I gave the highlights as if I did a complete tutorial the video would be 2 hours long. I've only installed apps from Amazon's app store. Is there a way to remove the apks or maybe Amazon does this automatically? When I look at the installed app VLC details I see the source dir is /data/app/org.videolan.vlc-1/base.apk. If this is not the actual executable that runs can it be safely removed? Several apps like Amazon Kids, Amazon Live Shopping, Amazon Music can not be uninstall using "Manage Installed Applications". Can X PLORE allow users to uninstall these apps?

I would download from the Amazon store "Total Commander" and "CCleaner" which will help you with that and with some of Amazons APK cannot be removed as proprietary system apks
