Thank you for the in-depth tutorial. Especially its "IF, AND, OR, THEN" logic. Greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much Jennifer. It was as though you took my hand and helped me do the "filtering". Still thinking of how to move "already received" emails to the folder. Nice video

Thank you for the wonderful comment, Patrick! The way to clean up what's already in your inbox is to search a person/company at the top, then check the boxes for the ones you want to move or delete. Then the "Move" and "Delete" icons will become available at the top, and you can clean up a bunch at once. I hope that helps! If you need more guidance, feel free to set up a consultation at www.gatewayproductivity.com/booking/

This tutorial is very helpful. Can you please also create a tutorial on how to add multiple unwanted emails to one folder? Thank you very much!
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 3 года назад
Thank you for your feedback, Linda! I will try to address that in another video. FYI: You can create a filter for each of those unwanted emails (if they are ones that come in consistently) and choose that one folder for each filter. You don't have to have a separate folder for each filter. I'm not sure if that helps. Also, just in case this answers your question - I have a video on selecting multiple items at once. Although my examples are selecting multiple computer files, you can use the same tricks to select multiple emails in Yahoo at once (using shift and control/command): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fMhCknFlYOQ.html&ab_channel=GatewayProductivity Once multiple emails are selected, you can move them all to the same folder at once by clicking the "Move" button that appears at the top in the center.

Great video! I set up my filters, but the emails are not getting into the folders. Do you know what the issue could be?
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 3 года назад
Hi, Nelson. The first thing I would look at is if the email address for the incoming email is the same as what's in your filter. Often a company will send you emails from multiple different email accounts. If they match, then my question would be is this an email that came in before or after you created the filter? When you set up the filters, they start running from that moment forward, not on old emails. To clean up what's already in your inbox, you can do a search and move all the relevant emails to the folder that way.

Hi Jennifer, I enjoyed your video. Hoping you have an answer to my problem. I receive 15 to 20 spam email every day from a domain, but they always have different prefixes before the domain name, so the domain block filter won't work. Any ideas?
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity Год назад
Hi, Randy. I'm so glad you liked the video! Thanks for the feedback. What I would recommend trying is the option/dropdown under "From" in the filter setup. Choose "contains" and put the domain in the "Type a filter value" field instead of a full email address. Give that a try for a couple of weeks and see if it does the trick.

Is there a way to take 15 folders from past subjects and combine those folders into one folder so the subjects remain separate. Can you move folders into archive or only individual emails.
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 2 года назад
Hi, Franco. Thank you for watching my video! If you click and drag folders on top of other folders, it will turn them into subfolders (also called nested or child folders). You can also click the little down arrow next to a folder and choose "Move folder" to move it under a parent folder. You will need to move the folders one at a time - there's no way to move all 15 at once. Maybe create a "zOld Email" folder or something like that. The z will drop it to the bottom of the list so it's out of the way. Then by nesting the old folders under this folder, you can use the little arrow to the left of the main/parent folder to shrink everything and save space. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you can archive folders - only individual emails. Great questions!

Is there a way to manually move emails into folders and then have the emails not appear in my inbox?
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 2 года назад
Hi, Denise. Yes, you can manually move emails into folders, thus taking them out of the inbox. Start from your inbox, check the boxes next to the emails you want to move (the emails should turn blue). You can use the "Move" button at the top of the screen and choose which folder to put them in. That button is also available when you're inside an email. You do also have the option to click and drag a group of checked emails over to the folder on the left, but I find the button at the top a little easier to use.

I might watch this later but want I really want to know is how the heck can I clear all my emails which is thousands upon thousands of emails that are mostly spam and junk. I wish you can clear all emails without doing 200 or whatever at a time. I need it done fast and without changing my email address for now. Can you please help?
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 2 года назад
Thanks for your question @carriebethpoems. With thousands of emails in your inbox, there is unfortunately not a fast way to move or delete them all at once. If you try to move or delete too many emails at a time, it will usually lock up the email program - this is true no matter which email program it is, not just Yahoo. One thing you can try is scrolling down in your inbox for a very long time, and then when you click the upper left check-box, it should select everything you've scrolled through. I'm not sure if it cuts off at 200, but if it does, then that may be the limit they've set per deletion. For more help with this process with unread messages, I recommend this video by TechJunkie: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-13UtWidwFYI.html&ab_channel=TechJunkie If you need additional help, you are welcome to schedule a no-charge consultation with me through this link: gatewayproductivity.as.me/consultation

Is there an easy way to put all retail ads to into a single folder called "Shopping" by listing a long string of "contains" words (from the subject line), separated by commas (like Firefox tabs)... such as "Macys", Joann (fabric store), JCPenney... but then "Bealls" comes in (subject line) as "BeallsFlorida.com" ...does the entire line need to be included. Is this even possible?
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 3 года назад
Thanks for your question, Caryl. Yahoo defaults to "and" filters. What this means is that you cannot have it look for multiple things at once (i.e. the Macys, Joann, JCPenney, etc) even if they're separated by commas. You would need to create a filter for each of those items. I find that it's cleanest to use the email address instead of the subject line because there is much less room for computer error. It's a bummer that you have to set up each individual filter, but it works well when done this way. Here is a website that gives a little more information: www.lifewire.com/set-up-or-filters-in-yahoo-mail-1167132

what does Match case mean?
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 3 года назад
Thanks for your question. Match case is rarely needed - it would be a situation where the case (upper or lower) of the criterion email or words must match exactly when the filter is run. One instance where you might use this is if you needed the filter to find the name Bill, but not the word bill. I hope that helps!

@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 2 года назад
Thanks for your comment. Can you give me a little more information about what isn't working? If a filter stopped working, you'll want to check to see if the email address that the emails are coming from changed. That's often the issue. If that's not it, please let me know. You are also welcome to schedule a no-charge consultation with me through this link: gatewayproductivity.as.me/consultation

@@GatewayProductivity It just stopped filtering my mail. I had it set up, was working for years. All of a sudden, it stopped filtering and all email was going to my inbox. I've tried everything possible including deleting all of the filters and adding just one or two, they don't work either.
@GatewayProductivity
@GatewayProductivity 2 года назад
@@ringweed The only thing I can find about this is that Yahoo's spam filter has been improved, and some people were having emails that usually filter to folders going to their spam. Yahoo's spam filter runs before the regular filters. However, that doesn't sound like what's happening to you. It also sounds like you've tried the trouble-shooting steps. Unfortunately, without seeing it, I'm not sure what else to have you try. If you'd like to set up a time for us to do a consultation, I'd be happy to look at it with you. I'm booked for the remainder of the year, but we could look at it in January: gatewayproductivity.as.me/consultation Good luck to you, and have a happy holiday season.
