Visiting the spot where the civil war ended? We have some great tips and tricks for you!
This video takes viewers on an educational tour of Appomattox, the significant historical site where the Civil War came to an end. We offer practical advice for visitors, such as packing a lunch due to the lack of nearby eating establishments, and highlights the importance of timing a visit to avoid when exhibits, like the McLean House, might be closed for lunch. The video provides insights into the National Park, including where to find stamps for National Park passport books, the accurate depiction of the surrender signing at the McLean House, and tips for locating the precise spot where Generals Grant and Lee met to discuss surrender terms. Additionally, viewers are advised on the broader area known as Appomattox Courthouse, the significance of the McLean House, and tips for a comfortable visit, including parking advice for RVs and the recommendation to bring bug spray during warmer months.

Thanks! It’s important to us to get them out there…they may not realize it yet…but I think they’ll look back on these memories fondly 😊

Great video, Scott! I am so glad you and Jen go to these places because I will probably never get to see them in person. You never fail to show just what I would want to see and I always love hearing the tips. Hope you are all doing well.

You got it right with The Searchers and Quiet Man. I saw an interview a long time ago with Stephen Spielberg and he was asked what’s the greatest movie and he said the Searchers. Interviewer said you mean greatest western and Spielberg said no, it’s the greatest movie ever. He went on to explain why, lighting, filming, scenes, etc.

I feel the same way. It is SO well made and acted. By far the best performance of John Wayne. Thank you for watching

Nice Rework of a Product..should be a nice type addition to your library for each topic. Good I have been there several times since the first in 1970. Interesting over the years when traveling I have mentioned this spot and others, amazing when the other person's say ..we have time let's stop......

Very nice video, Scott. You asked how many National Parks have been visited. I checked my stamp book and see i have been to 11 of them.

Visited this place in September 2023 and almost didn't get to go to the home within the town that the surrender took place. It was an in and out deal so I need to go back.

True. Most people don’t know that it is a separate location. Thank you for watching.

I find it sad, interesting and ironic that the war started and ended on McClean’s property.

It’s great video as are all of them. BUT. I know I’m going to take grief for this comment but letting your child dig at a tree on a historical property was so disturbing. I think it’s also a violation of park policy. This wasn’t a random tree in a random stand of trees. Otherwise it’s a great thing to see your kids with you seeing the history that made this country.

I cut out the part where I yelled at my kids to stop doing that...😂

After re-reading my comment I figured I was stepping in it. I love your channel and the perspective it gives. I’ve been to a lot of these when stationed near or traveling but it’s awesome to see them this way. Thank you!!!
