Andreas Bollongino hey Andreas, glad you liked the video and have been enjoying them! You are definitely right, modern bike frames are not meant to have excess pressure on points like the top tube. I am aware of this and have been very careful to not have any more pressure besides the weight of the bike when it’s being held like that. The reason I have it held like that is because of the low quality of the stand, it doesn’t hold the bike well from the seatpost. But thanks for pointing that out, I’ve been meaning to buy a better stand, I’ll try to make that happen soon!

I clean my cassette every time, sometimes I leave it on my wheel and do a quicker cleaning. I wash the derailleurs and cranks every time also. Anything that is dirty or greasy, try to get clean. If you miss spots often, grime can build up and possibly cause issues.

Haha I clean it a lot quicker these days. But good cleaning like that is probably a good idea every so often. And you should get one, ultrasonic cleaners are a game changer! But I’d recommend getting one a little bigger than mine, so you can fit your cassette in easily. It’s a tight fit on mine

hey sorry my late reply on this. yes I have, a little bit. with the experience I have had so far, I don't think that wax is worth the extra amount of effort involved. It doesnt last that much longer than oil lubes and the cleaning process is a more time consuming. one thing that bothered me about using wax, when you need to re-wax, its a process. If are about to go on a ride and your wax is old or forgot re-wax earlier, you are kind of screwed. with oil, if you need to add a little extra before a ride, it just takes a minute. but I will be doing some more testing with wax sometime, maybe I just need some more time working with it and to be more diligent about the re-waxing intervals.

yes and no... so I had added a cassette in there in the past, but I didnt see that the degreaser I was using wasn't meant for aluminum and oxidized the aluminum casing on cassette really bad, turning it black. Since then I've been doing it by hand, and it is easy enough. Although I could just use a different degreaser that works with aluminum. I might do that in the future

Yeah, I usually do one more lube after about 4 days. I found that right before doing that second lube, wiping down the chain really well helps the chain stay cleaner and maybe helps the lube last longer too.

Hey Richard. I don't have access to a hose outside my apartment, so this is what i have been doing recently. I don't have neighbors below my apartment. My balcony overhangs an ally street. I haven't received any comments from neighbors about my cleaning. I don't think my bikes get very greasy, just the cassette and chain, the chain I clean inside, but im planning on getting a larger ultrasonic cleaner to fit the cassette also. I don't use degreaser outside. Just simple green and dish soap. I only use degreaser for my ultrasonic cleaner and it's disposed down the sink
