Hello , it would be better for your eyes especially for the eyelids to wash from outside to the nose. Another aspect: stay a little while on your lashes ( best with warm towel) and massage: dry eye will become better! and most important: thank you for the great information about products and the ingredients 😊

I was diagnosed with Type II Rosacea about 15 years ago. It took me several years to realize that my foaming cleanser was killing my skin. Now, I know that two things will cause a flare up - not washing my face before bed and/or using a detergent-based cleanser. Purity is pretty much the only thing that soothes my skin back to normal (Rosacea Normal, of course) after a flare up. And, as you say, I don't wash with anything but warm water in the morning. With this strategy, I have been pretty much flare-up free for about 5 years. Thank you for this very important content. Most people have no idea that how they wash their face has such an impact.

I know you had to keep your shirt on for the video, but the best thing to.do in order not to get water on your sleeves, collar, etc., is to take your top off! I've been doing this for years and it's so helpful. I also use wristbands so the water doesn't run down my arms 💖

I do the same thing, but since I am short I have found it is easier to bend over the side of the bathtub and to use the faucet there than to use the sink. The bonus is that gravity pulls the water upwards to my hairline and not down around my neck and chest.

I KNEW IT!!!!! For a few years now I’ve been lazily forgoing morning washes, just splashing water to clean off “boogers” (note- not usually wearing ANY makeup or mascara for weeks at a time); so besides air pollution it’s really just the oil and lotion I use after my evening shower before bed that remains on my face

It's a little confusing because she said people splash their skin in the morning with water, dirty their white towels and then put on skincare, which she said was a waste. What if we have serums and moisturizers that use in the morning? If she is saying just wash with water, it contradicts, in my mind, what she said about people making a waste by just splashing with water.

Hello! I’m Japanese. While I was watching this video, I found that there is a difference between your way and Japanese way to wash face. In Japan, it is said that rubbing face is not good for skin because the friction will occur some skin damages in the future. For example, increasing wrinkles, losing elasticity, and getting pores open. Dermatologists, beauty specialists and beauty magazines highly recommend NOT to rub the face skin when you cleanse your face, when you wipe with towel, and when you apply the skincare products. I don’t have any harm to you at all, I love your videos and I respect you so much. I really appreciate you because your advice and recommendations are so helpful which products to choose. I just would like to share the difference about rubbing while washing face. If you would like to know more about the frictionless skincare in Japan, there is a famous dermatologist, “TOMORI ARATA”. It would be great if her videos are interesting for you. Thank you always.

I was actually going to comment the same thing. She lost me at rubbing. & it was not just dab dab. It was pretty aggressive 😂 I feel like alot of derms think that’s forbidden. It’s interesting because she doesn’t use paper towel either. I saw a RU-vidr who uses towel like paper towels because bacteria doesn’t adhere to it, you can just toss it. Not environment friendly but eh. But I don’t have an MD so what do I know. She looks like lady Gaga though & is beautiful.

I always get shocked when I watch westerners treat their skin so harshly, her face was all red. I use the Japanese double cleansing method (oil cleanser and then hydrating foam wash) and never use towels on my skin to not get any bacteria on it or irritate it. I gently wipe of the water, let it air dry for a bit and then use a hydrating toner when it's damp.

I stopped washing with cleanser when I wake up years ago - that and changing my pillowcases daily made a huge difference. Another weird thing I do is I work overnight so I reverse my skincare. I go to bed as soon as I get home, so I apply my skincare like retinol when I wake up, before work. Otherwise, I'd just lose most of my skincare to my pillowcase. I only see sun on my way home (rising sun) and apply sunscreen before leaving work, then wash my face with cleanser when I get home and follow up with a light moisturizer so it soaks in before going to bed.

I love cleansing balms, specifically ELF leaves no residue when rinsed off and is fairly priced. I love the feeling of working them into my face and that I do not need any cotton pads or cloths at all. I would then go in with a gentle foaming cleanser just to make sure any residues are gone, however ELF balm emulsifies really well and washes off clean. I have tried micellar waters from Bioderma but have found I have to go in a few times to get everything off and I don't even do waterproof makeup. For the eyes, the only thing that works fast and doesn't sting nor need rubbing is Garnier micellar with argan oil (the one with two phases to shake up)

I have oily skin, so not cleansing my face in the morning, isn’t going to work for me. I use miscellar water on a mini reusable “makeup eraser” pad and wipe that across my face… then I splash my face with lukewarm water 2-3x and pat dry with a clean small microfiber towel, before applying my morning skincare, sunscreen and makeup. At night, I do a double cleanse using a cleansing balm, which I wipe off with a DRY small “makeup eraser” pad. (I have 2 sizes… mini and small, for different cleansing needs.) I splash a bit of water onto my face and then massage a gentle cleanser onto the skin. Then I use another small “makeup eraser” - this time wet - to wipe off the cleanser and then I splash my face with lukewarm water 2-3x and then dry it with a clean microfiber towel, before applying my nighttime skincare.

I've been using a foreo (rubber device) to clean my face once a week for a deep clean. Are they bad for your skin? What are your thoughts.? Thanks from Canada.

Hello Beautiful Doctor! I love your videos but...i always cleanse my face in the morning! Why? Because i don't feel that my skin is clean 100% just with water! I tried washing my skin only with water but it didn't feel clean. I believe that the epidermal barrier is not affected because after cleansing we will moisturize with the products we use. ✌️

I love your videos but I wouldn't wash my face like that ever-the skin pulling is why I ended up with fine lines way earlier. I'll just stick to the oil and water-based foam cleanser in the evening.

Hi Dr Shereen actually you could use a more gentle and effective way to use the Bioderma water. The cotton pads really retain the micellar water so when the cotton is soaked with it you just have to gently press it on your eyes and wait a little without tugging anything. But you must use enough micellar water and on the cotton pad not by spraying it on your face. Lisa Eldridge has a great old skincare video where she shows it. I am French, I have been using micellar water for ever and use it the same way. As for the balms, I also do not like feeling a residue left on my skin which is why when I use them I just remove the balm the same way you remove your cleanser...with a small microfiber towel. But it has to be soaked with warm water. And I follow up with my regular cleanser.

I alternate between Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Noxzema Original Cleaning Cream (yes, I know it is fragranced and has Eucalyptus oil) massage on and I remove it with a very soft microfiber makeup remover cloth.

Thank you! I loved this and will be trying some of your suggestions. I never wash my face in the morning as it dries out my skin too much but honestly I thought I was breaking some cardinal skin care rule and don’t tell anyone 😅

Thank you for the towel idea of washing your face. I have used it and it works wonderfully. Only way I’ll now rinse off my face.

I like using a good quality gauze too and also a little microfiber towel to take off my cleanser...I feel like it helps me to get some mild exfoliation. I don't like scrub type cleanser because it just irritates my skin. So I also agree with you that chemical exfoliation is a better way to go. But the gauze and towel is gentle enough so it's nice to use those items.

I've stopped cleansing in the morning, except for during ovulation stage because adult acne. I don't pat dry with towel and just apply my moisturizer on wet skin, but it was really to break out of that habit. That satisfying feeling of fresh towel was very tempting

For me I have to wash my face in the morning…just a quick sweep of a cotton pad and micellar water. I always rinse with water afterwards (residue of the miscellar water on my skin = itchy and irritating. I tried washing off my makeup with just miscellar water. I found it didn’t remove my makeup effectively, especially eye makeup! For me a 1) balm (heimish) or an oil cleanse definitely dislodges the makeup. Followed by a 2) cleanser which I massage for about 20 seconds onto wet skin. Rinse with tepid water. I know every skin is different and this is what works best for me. ❤

I hate micellar water,i tried a bunch of brands, hate them all but instead i love a good cleansing balm at night. I never wash my in the morning,a few times a week i use an exfoliating toner. Is it just me or she is being a bit rough on her skin, for me it's just too much wiping and tugging. They say it's all about to be gentle especially around the eyes. But hey no hate here just a point of view 🙂

Yeah she looks like she was pretty rough with her skin. But hey, it's her skin and she knows it best. I'm sure it's fine for her since she's been doing it for years without any issues. Everyone's skin is different anyways. Her technique may work for her but it might not necessarily work for everyone.

Thank you for this video people don’t realize it’s the little things.. I was surprised to see there wasn’t any face oils in this round up cleansing products ❤I just started using one and I do realize I need to use it only once a day because it is kind of stripping my skin. 😢 but I do love the way it feels I’m a long time cereve cream cleaner user but being 60 I thought I’d give something else a shot I’m hearing so much about these cleansing oils lately
