🚨 My workshop on oils & butters will empower you to make evaluate and choose oils and butters for YOUR hair and your regimen. I teach you not only the science 🧪 of oils and the structure of hair, but also an easy process for predicting how an oil will likely affect your hair. The aim is to move you closer to your ideal regimen with less guesswork and product “junkyism”. Click the link and nab an early bird ticket before they run out🚨
This video, showing you how you can wash your twists without getting them frizzy after a workout was highly requested. I show you three techniques plus a bonus one for keeping your scalp dirt-free after vigorous exercise. In my Afro Hair Science video I spoke about why Afro hair doesn't tend to be oily or greasy. For the same reason, you may find it completely unnecessary to wash your hair while in twists. However, if, like me, you enjoy going to the gym, this tip should help you in cleansing your scalp while keeping the style relatively neat. You may notice in this video that I the back of my hair is quite messy. This has nothing to do with the cleansing routine and everything to do with my not keeping up with my refreshing sessions. I workout 5 days a week. I do protective styles often, but I still have to shampoo my hair 2-3x a week, because I sweat a lot. I do twists sometimes, but I also do puffs and braid styles so that I can easily wash my hair. Thanks for the video.

I dunno if something's wrong with me but I can still wash my hair just once a week when I go to the gym, my scalp doesn't feel sweaty.
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 8 лет назад
Wow! I only work out 3 days a week (on a good week) so I do this routine once or twice. My scalp stays clean for the whole week afterwards.

Wow!! I love the idea, but would all the shampoo rinse completely from the scalp? Please answer, thanks a lot and please keep the videos coming love them.
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 8 лет назад
Hey, the shampoo is diluted so even if some remained, it would be too potent. If you're concerned, opt for the dry shampoo or clay technique instead. X

How long do you usually keep your twists in? I tried twists for the first time recently and they looked rather raggedy after a week. I tied my hair up every night but they still got frizzy looking. I did get a super cute twist out from it though!
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 8 лет назад
Hey, check the description box for my twist maintenance video! I haven't really been keeping up with the routine but ideally no single twist should be left on for two weeks.

Thanks for the tips. Is the Suave almond and shea butter shampoo sulfate free?
@NaturallyHigh

Yeah but it's nothing special - it's just a shampoo. This technique would work with any shampoo. X

@NaturallyHigh

Nope. My scalp stays pretty clean for a few days so I do this once to twice a week.

if you workout everyday do you wash everyday to keep out the sweat and dirt. or do you just when it becomes noticeable to you?

@NewBlueTrue
@NewBlueTrue 8 лет назад
Hi, so you shampoo your scalp about two times a week when it is in twists. When do you do your full detangling and washing process? Do you do that twice a month?
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 8 лет назад
+NewBlueTrue around once a month or whenever I take the twists out. If my hair's not twisted I wash either weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the season.
@NewBlueTrue

When my twists get wet, even just a little, they start to mat and look terrible... They do not stay stretched like yours. Do your mat a little at the roots?
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 8 лет назад
Starting the twists with a plait should mitigate this. You should also stretch your twists after moisturising/cleansing them to prevent shrinkage and knotting.
@aliciabrillante
@aliciabrillante 8 лет назад
Thanks. I will definitely try this to help the style last longer.

I can tell you straight up that while your hair is gorgeous as it is. that would be considered unkempt and not neatly styled and so that is why our hair will continue to not reach lengths that are reflective of our terminal lengths because appearance is really the issue
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 6 лет назад
'Be considered' - surely your own opinion is the most important when it comes to your natural hair?
@xXMoonlightQueridaXx
@xXMoonlightQueridaXx 6 лет назад
@@NaturallyHigh I agree but unfortunately reality isn't like that. I have seen students denied to give a speech because they wore a twist out and not to mention I suffer the brunt of downright rude and insulting comments from parents and relatives. It isn't easy and I am still natural and wear my hair to a point where it wouldn't be considered *neatly styled* but I have damaged hair because of the same. it is tough when you live in ignorance and Caribbean. it is changing but it is slow
