I know right! Thank you! I've missed you all too! I wrote about why this happens in the description box: basically, I'm still creating content but I'm getting extra picky about what I upload. So I'll edit an entire video and upload it and then suddenly change my mind. It's mainly because I don't feel too comfortable with my current setup. The one you see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fxX8HBMD1oQ.html was at a friend's house... I'm moving again soon and I plan on dedicating some more resources to building a setup I feel better about! I apologise for my inconsistency.

I used to do that too but it can get overwhelming with a mixed playlist because you see so many different styles and products in one sitting. Plus, your fingers are all greasy so it's annoying to switch videos. The next episode comes on automatically on Netflix! I'd highly recommend it - unless of course, you were planning on watching my videos... In that case, as you were! Lol! ;)

With a toddler roaming around, I only have an 1hr 30min timeframe while he's napping to do my wash routine. I'll admit I do rush detangling sometimes. Any tips on how I can do detangling quickly and efficiently with a little amount of breakage?

Hello lovely. I wanted to ask you about recycling parts. I'd love to do it but I'm just thinking of the nightmare detangling session after washing.... I'm going through your videos again to see if I can find a routine that will work for me. I do currently wash in twists (with a diluted sulphate-free shampoo) but I have to loose out the twists to add deep conditioner because by that time it's a hot mess and stray hairs are everywhere! How do you keep it all so neat??? And thanks btw for the tips about being in the right frame of mind... it makes a massive difference!

Hello Asha! Great video, there's nothing like fresh twists, your hair looks fabulous! I tried a wash n go once last year and when it was about 80% dry I could just tell it wasn't going to be pretty, so I immediately put it into twists lol! I think it was the gel I used, my hair did not respond well to it and I don't know when I'll try it again. Netflix and hair lol, in the beginning of my journey I used to watch hair tutorials or Nap85 vlogs while I did my hair but that was with my old laptop, with this new one I don't get near it with any products so sometimes I just listen to an audio bible book. Hahaha "homeclothes", we called them play clothes and it's okay I wear my playclothes quite a lot. We grew up not allowed to wear our street clothes (aka school, work or church clothes) in the house, we had to change right away. Thanks for sharing and your length check is still quite "wow oh man impressive" even with the wash n go damage, you're passed waist length, it just blows my mind lol! I really liked your music too : )
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 лет назад
Hi Kerducky! Welcome back! Thank you very much! I too love the look of fresh twists - like the plump ones in your avatar! Oh dear! It's good that you did those twists: they likely saved you from a knotty mess. Are you also 4C? No more wash n goes for me ever! Listening to audio programmes is another way to feel as though you're not wasting your time on Earth. I enjoy BBC dramas. I remember your telling me about your playclothes and 'bus pants' under my 'random facts about me video' in which I talked about my 'outside clothes' - it seems we have lots in common! We're both germaphobes! Thank you! It's funny! I used to think my hair was long too but then I came across Efficiently Natural, do you watch her too? Her 4C mane is glorious - she is literally Black Rapunzel incarnate. Check her out and let her know I sent you! Glad you liked my music!
@kerducky
@kerducky 7 лет назад
Asha Asha where to begin lol! Thanks, it's good to be back and thanks for the plump twist compliment, I haven't worn my hair that way in a couple years lol! Today I washed my hair and I'm starting on my free twists regimen, thanks to you. :) I'm 4B and C with a tiny bit of 4A in the very back and some weird bent semi-wave sections in the middle that resemble heat damage lol but for the most part I'm 4BC and follow that routine and maintenance. Efficiently Natural actually popped up in my YT feed yesterday under one of your videos and YES I seen her magnificent mane, jaw dropping it was her "Twist Out on 4B/4C Blow Dried Hair" video, I do believe my mouth was just open the entire time :o lol! I will definitely let her know that your video lead me to her. BBC "We Speak English" lol! I like "Doctor Who"...someone at my old job out of nowhere gave me the Season 3 box set, I was like "um, Rosemary wow thank you...I think lol, I had never heard of the show but once I started watching it, it was pretty entertaining, funny and clever. Girl, bus pants rules and playclothes are all mother's doing lol! Hahaha, I never thought of myself as a germaphobe I guess I am, I will shake a person's hand but I won't touch my own skin until I get some "hanitizer" as my 5 year old niece calls it "hand+sanitizer" lol! My mom was like a female "Danny Tanner" from Full House, neat freak and cleaning machine, she used to make my older brothers wash the white walls down every Saturday lol, I'm glad by the time I got older momma had lightened up on that rule lol! Asha thanks for always responding, I love the interaction on your channel, it so much fun. Enjoy the rest of your week my friend : )
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 лет назад
Ah okay, I guess being a slightly more loosely curled should bode well for you in terms of wash n goes! BBC 'We Speak English'? Do you mean 'The English We Speak'? Isn't that for non-native English speakers? Ah, Doctor Who! Good show! I recently completely the series 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency' and I'd strongly recommend it to you! Let me know what you think! It's also on Netflix. Great series for detangling. Oh dear! That's a bit extreme. It's probably a Caribbean thing. You're of Jamaican/Nicaraguan (or Panamanian?) descent right? As you know, I lived in Trinidad for a few years and people there are very serious about hygiene as well. In fact, I've definitely relaxed a bit. Being too clean causes allergies so we shouldn't overdo it! And no problem! Your messages are always so heartfelt so I reply whenever I can! Enjoy your weekend plump-twisted detective show-loving germaphobe friend!

This is exactly what I'm doing right now minus the blow drying, I rollerset my hair to stretch it before twisting. I'm having hair issues :'( so I hoping doing this would resolve them. On another note I love that edenbody works deep conditioner, It is my holy grail product that is the only product in my hair regimen that hasn't changed, being using it for years, It gives the exact moisture my hair needs :)

This was very helpful! I have been worried about how to keep my hair because I normally like it in loose twists but I have been scared to try and wash my hair with them in (fear of them unraveling in the shower mostly), and as a result I have been trying to stretch out how often I wash so that I'm not having to detangle all the time. But I honestly can't go for a month without washing like some other people can, a week or bi-weekly is better for my scalp, and it doesn't take as long. Seeing how well it worked for you to wash your hair with all your twists in makes me want to try it, because honestly if I can rock my loose twists forever and just have to re-twist them that would be ideal. My only question is did you wash and deep condition with the two braids in the whole time or did you take them out and re-braid them throughout the process. Thanks for this video, this info came just in time for me!
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 лет назад
NAIKOchan17 yay! So happy to help you just in time. Living in twists is ideal. Okay, so here's what happens after those two plaits: - I stand under the shower, wash my body and let all the oil and conditioner run off
@NAIKOchan17
@NAIKOchan17 7 лет назад
I'm going to try this out once I take my braids out. I've never tried conditioning with smaller twists in for fear of matting so its nice to see that it works for you. Thanks for replying with such detail!
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 лет назад
NAIKOchan17 should be fine! Just detangle beforehand to avoid matting. In my experience, hair gets matted when shampooed in old twists.

Please post the video of the detangling !!!! And thank you for this video. Would like to ask, how often you blow dry you hair. I just started using blow drying as a why to speed things up during wash days as I gave limited time to do my hair. I am at a stage where am finding out what does and doesn't work with my hair in terms of using heat and what temperature do you set your blow drier to?
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 лет назад
Alison Zunguze okay so I guess I'll have to post it then! I use medium heat all over and then high heat at the root of each section/group of sections. I would advise you to use as low a heat as possible and focus the heat on the roots, not the ends. I also suggest using a heat protectant!!! I don't do this often at all, but since I like how the roots turned out, I may do it again next time. I wouldn't recommend blow drying more than once a month.
@alisonzunguze8183
@alisonzunguze8183 7 лет назад
Naturally High Thank you, can't wait!!! (I have kinky 4c natural hair that loves to intertwine and i have used your videos as a reference to learn to manage the detangling process - i learnt what patient gentle handling was from watching you )And also thank you for the advice, funny you should mention heat protectant, just started using one this past wash day. I will do exactly as you say on using different temperatures on different sections of the hair strands, never really thought to do that, was all over the place. And so far I have been using heat once a month, don't want to risk damaging my hair too much.
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 лет назад
Alison Zunguze okay sounds good! I'm happy to hear that you're gentle with your hair. We Black folk are often extra hard on our delicate tresses. Blow drying you protected hair monthly, focusing the nozzle on the roots should be fine. Just don't overdo it! Improving manageability can improve length retention as long as no damage is sustained.

I do this (plus trimming, deep condish & protein treatments) & my hair still breaks 😢 I don't think my hair is fine-stranded yet I can only retain length if my hair is straightened or in twists. My hair is EXTREMELY POROUS & I have as of late been trying to keep my hair stretched via blowdrying on medium & setting it with a cool shot then oiling & putting it in a style of french braids as a day style and/or at least at nighttime & wearing a satin bonnett to sleep in. I think I might need to start adding ceramides into my routine (just found out about them lol) because using just aloe vera & ACV is just not cutting it to keep my cuticles closed 😐.

Hey! In that case, please don't use heat! I used the blow dryer to shorten my wash day and reduce matting/knotting at the roots. If you wish, you can apply medium heat to your roots to stretch them out before twisting. I have found that this improves the manageability of my hair. Be sure to use a heat protectant!

Ma'am, you know wash n gos are NO NO'S for 4c hair! I'm never doing it again. OUR type hair must be kept stretched or twisted/ plaited to avoid knots.
