How to Water Your Peace Lily

It also helps when you go away for some length of time, is to get a cotton string (wick) to the bottom of your plant pot with a glass of water and the plant will "drink" the water through the wet wick as needed. Therefore, it will keep the soil moisture in the soil 😊.

Hey Michelita same happened with mine with the AC. I was reading more about it and peace lilies are a tropical plant and like humidity. It seems like the AC is drying out the air making the peace lily more droopy. I put the plant in a more humid room and it’s slowly bouncing back yay

It's probably time to transplant. Mine was doing the same and when I pulled the plant out of the pot there was an inch of dirt and the rest was roots. I am currently growing it in water, it's quite happy and getting it's water roots

Arnee P 👋 hi! I good way to tell which is the case is by looking at and/or touching the soil. If the soil is super moist and the lily is dropping and giving you yellow and brown leaves, it’s most likely an overwatering issue. If it’s drooping and sad and the soil is dry, you need to give it a drink. Hope this helps!

Ok so mine is deft opposite and overwatered!? How can I fix it?????

I cut stiff cardboard into stakes and stick them in the soil. If it is to wet the cardboard gets wet above the potting soil.

@@ishaduranxo ​ Hi Isha Duran. Putting in my 2 cents as I've been thru this before. Do you have any greenery left or is it completely yellow? Do you have a drainage hole in your pot? If no drainage hole you'll need to drill a hole in the bottom. If you have any greenery left, pull the plant out of the pot and separate the rotten bits from the healthy tissue. Drill your hole if there isn't one, then repot with fresh potting soil. I would mix 1 part pearlite or vermiculite with 2 parts soil to keep the soil from packing down. Wait to water sense overwatering is a problem. If it looks like it's beginning to droop water it until the water runs through the drain hole. You'll know when it's time to water again when the top of the soil feels dry but don't let the plant droop. I think that will fix the overwatering. If the plant is completely yellow, I'd get another plant and try again. It's likely dead.

@@ishaduranxo Also, I use a chopstick. The wood will tell you if the soil is wet or not. I use mine just for the Peace Lilly ONLY as to not transmit disease or pests.

Myb getting just light its not enough.. try to put it in bright indirect sunlight water adequately or u just hve to chnge the soil n repot it.. u can see so much method to deal with this kind of problem in this utube.. i got my peace lily in bright indirect sunlight but im suprise the stem n leaves start to inclined towards the sun meaning they luv the sun though.. so u hve to experiment it....

Maybe watering too much and giving too much direct sunlight! Try watering only when they begin wilting and keep indoors

I really saw her leaves beginning to droop last week I thought she needed repotting... I had no idea it's because she's thirsty.... im still a new mom.. so thanks for the information

It really varies depending on size, humidity, location, and direction-facing windows. I would wait till it gets a little wilted to water it. I water mine like every other week. Peace lilies root rot easily.

Asking the same question. Normally when I water it, it perks back up but this time and last time I watered it, it didn't. The soil also seems still moist/damp to me when I put my finger in the soil but the top part is dry. I'm a newbie so I don't know what to do

Water them every 7 - 14 days, they will show you when they need water

Too much direct sunlight, they don't like that and it will burn their leaves

TROY DAWES I woke up in a panic seeing my peace Lilly dropping so severely.. I kid you not I watered it and it sprouted right up 😅whew

I have all my peace lillys in pots with no drainage. My biggest one been in a non drainable pot for a year now, just water a lot less. Peace lillys are really hard to kill unless you completely neglect them. Just pay attention to it, they will show you when they need water. If they arent slightly wilted then you do not need to water. Wait until they look thirsty. But not drastically like the lady in the video

From experience if the leaves are wilted but still green there's a good chance it needs more water and if the leaves start to brown then yeah it's been over watered.

Lady GeMiNi My peace lily hasn’t dropped fully but it just started to (the bud itself is droopy) and only one of its leaf is yellow coloured and kinda dead but others look healthy (but droopy) what could be the problem. I don’t think i overwatered because I just got like 3 days ago? :)

@@arindasleeze I'm no expert 😂 but with my lily I notice that at times when new leaves seem to be coming in she'll rid herself of old leaves. Pothos and dieffenbachias seem to do the same also.
