Excellent video - thanks! Helped me out and I did it in half hour! Couple quick things (for your next time video). First, after I realized after I did everything step by step, that you can reach the bracket and screws (and consequent coils) without removing the drum. Hence my second thing: after I finished, I replaced the drum wrong (not sure how) and it wouldn't spin. I had to disassemble the washer and do it again. Pulling the belt through the pulley was a little harder the second time, too. Maybe next time do that step (about putting drum back on) a little slower like the others? Finally, was I the only one who had a hell of a time putting the front back on (to the teeth at bottom each side)? Like I said, I am extremely grateful and thought the video was excellent - just my take on it. Thanks again!

This was great! Your note about making sure the spacer did not get lost on the old coil was helpful. This allowed me to keep my old dryer with its simple, reliable controls and not have to buy into new, unneeded technology.

Y'all are DA BOMB ! Thank you so much , I followed the Whirlpool Duet troubleshooting guide and found the gas solenoid valve that controls the flame not turning on. A quick check with my DVOM indicated the resistance of the coil was out of range. I place my order with you for a new solenoid kit today. Thanks again !

@sublimefan661 If the igniter is cycling on and off, it would indicate the coils have gone bad. When they are cold, they will work the first few cycles, but when they warm up, they stop working. Dont forget to clean the dryer and vent while you're in there.

Thanks! We had glow but no fire, so I replaced the coils as shown. Now we have fire! One top clip wouldn't let go with the putty knife, so I had to poke it in the center with a punch to release it. The drum was tricky to realign during assembly, but eventually I got it. Having my head inside the dryer at the time seemed to help me see what was happening. Lastly, I did notice the gloves in the video, but I didn't wear any. I should have. There's a lot of sharp edges in there! Lesson learned.

@mexrockstar1 Unfortunately, these coils cannot be accurately tested for continuity. A bad coil might show a good reading when cold and fail when energized. If the igniter comes on and then cycles off after a few seconds and no flame from the burner, it's usually the coils (in very rare cases it's the whole valve). Describe your problem...

Yeah i took the valves completely off and there was no change on the ohm meter. I ordered the gas valves from you guys Friday, it was just funny to check all the common parts, the fuse, the thermostats and find nothing wrong. I was about to just buy a new dryer when I opened up the front and saw this little assembly near the igniter. But I'm glad I did, thanks to u guys and an hour of angry tinkering I know a lot more then I did 2 days ago.

Great Video and very easy to understand. Now, I just have a quick question. In my case, if I run the dryer empty (No Clothes at all), the dryer works perfect and it heats very well, but if I load the dryer and turn it on, the flame will stay for a few seconds and then will go off. Is this the same issue you are referring to? Changing the Gas Valve Burner Coils, will fix the problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

You can not just do a continuity check, you will have to check for a specific ohm value. Here is the readings you are looking for: Gas valve coils have to be tested for resistance, ohms. Two coils - one with three terminals and one with two terminals. 1. The coil with two terminals should have 1220 ± 50 Ohms 2. The coil with three term. if held with terminals in upper position: a) across the left and the middle term. - 1365 ± 25 Ohms b) across the left and the right term. - 560 ± 25 Ohms

my dryer stops heating a couple minutes into a cycle and from some quick research this coil kit is the solution. in the service manual for my dryer (maytag mdg6200aww) it lists a holding coil as well as a booster and secondary coil. the kit comes with two coils (booster and secondary i imagine), correct? is the holding coil unnecessary to fix this problem?

Ive got a kirkland signature whirlpool gas dryer model SGDX600JQ2. My problem is when the dryer is cold and has not been used for hours, I run it, doesnt matter if its on timed dry or auto. The flame is on in the gas chamber, then shuts off. After 5-10 min. after 30 sec. or so i hear a noise coming from the dryer, then i can see the chamber glowing redish orange for about 10 seconds then shuts off with no flame at all. This process repeats until i stop the dryer. Sound like a bad valve coil kit?

Brilliant. Easy to follow, this was exactly my issue. Great tip about the coil valve with the metal insert - i would have blown that step. Thank you! Curious - anyone know a rough estimate on how much a repair service would have cost for this repair? $100 just to show up. Maybe another $50 for the parts and $75 for labor?

Could the gas valve coils make the dryer not heat at all? Thats the problem with my deyer, continuity checks on all thermostats and the fuse. Ty

TURN OFF THE GAS BEFORE REPLACING THE COILS! There’s no need to turn off the gas on the dryer shown in the video above because the coils can be removed without removing the seal plate. But on my DG210 dryer the press plates are secured by the magnetic straps. As soon as either magnetic strap is loosened its seal plate is no longer secure and gas is allowed to escape.

Does the igniter come on? It should have continuity and between 50-400 ohms. Not sure if you did or not, but be sure you remove the wires from anything you test so you do not read back through the wire harness and get a false continuity reading.

Changing just the coils does not require the gas to be turned off. They sit on top of the valve but no gas flows through them. But it's always a good idea to turn the gas shut off valve off (located behind the dryer) just to be extra safe.

Isn't it necessary to turn off the gas before removing the coils? When I loosened the bolts on the bracket I smelled gas until I turned off the gas shutoff valve. My dryer is a Maytag DG210.

When testing the 3-prong solenoid and particularly testing prongs 2 and 3 I get OL reading with the new coils I just purchased from Amazon. My old coils give me a 1600 reading from prongs 2 and 3, Is it possible Amazon sent me bad coils?

I did it all and it worked but now as the drum turns there is a scratchy sound like something is rubbing. I checked the back seal before. Could it be the belt is twisted?

I have a problem with my Samsung dryer where it does not heat up. I have replaced all the sensors, exhaust duct, igniter n gas valves solenoids. The flame goes on but shuts off after about 10-15sec. Any suggestions on what else it could be?

if the shaft for the smaller coil seems to be loose, can that affect the coils and the dryer from working properly?

If the shaft is bent or loose it could stop the coil from opening the gas valve.

Unfortunately, it looks like the manufacturer has discontinued production of the parts you listed, and we have no remaining stock at any of our warehouses. This part won't be a compatible replacement. It may be possible to find A128944 and 128944 used through a local salvage company or a used appliance parts retailer online.

My gas dryer heats only for the first 5 minutes and cold air comes out from it after that. For the 3 prongs coil, 1&2 works, 1&3 works but not 2&3, it's O.L. Is this normal?

If you look at the coils you will notice that one coil has two connectors and the other has three. The one with three is actually two coils in one. These are the standard coils used for many years, they should work fine for your dryer.

my solenoid doesn't work if severel times cycles, but if new cycle it work. so if solenoid in cold condition its work. i have to check the the solenoid and its connected. how do you think???

+faisal amri The coils are going bad. When the coils start to fail they create too much resistance when they are warm and will not open the valve. As the coils start to die they will do as you said, work the first few times, then once the dryer is hot they will not work. Usually it leads to longer drying times and then no heat once they truly fail.

Hello. I am replacing the gas valve coils on my Kenmore dryer series 1107192311. My dryer did not have the spacer that goes on the shaft of the coil valve with the 3 prongs that this video says to make sure not to lose otherwise it won’t work. Can I purchase this spacer separately? Thank you.

Gas does not flow through the coils, if you smell gas you may have a leak elsewhere. Make sure you turn off the gas until its repaired.

***** I would clean all the tubing and venting. An air restriction can cause the flame to hit the high limit thermostat. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.

Just bought and replaced....but when I turn the dryer on it takes 3 MINUTES for ignitor and then GAS to blow...yes I changed the thermostat fuse looks like a white bean ..why is it TAKING 3 MINUTES for intro START drying yes the dryer is JUST spinning for 3 MINUTES

You don’t need to take off the belt and drum to change the coils lol . Your just trying to make it look like it’s a complicated job so you people can charge an arm and a leg for doing something as easy as removing a couple of screws . What a shame .
