Wowwwww!!! This is a shoe saver! I bought a pair of Takumi Sen 10’s online. My Boston 12’s are a size 10.5 and they are too long, so I ordered the Takumi’s in a size 10. The length was way better, and I loved the weight and the cushion, but my left foot felt way too uncomfortable after each run as I was getting strong pressure on the top of my big toe joint. I only wore the shoes twice and boxed them up and tossed them in the closet extremely disappointed. Lacing this way relieves the pressure on the top of my big toe joint and I can run in the Takumi’s again. Thank you so much!

I do this sometimes, it does work. Ive also found I almost always can relace the shoe as normal after 20-30 miles and the upper has changed enough to keep the volume this initially provided

Creating a ' lace window' any where up the lace chain helps with so many shoe fit issues, there are literally so many lace techniques, thanks for this video Matt 😊

Learned this years ago and has helped me run in some shoes that I might have passed on because my wider forefoot. Thanks!

I use the same technique but in the mid foot, as I have very high arches and I usually get loads of pressure on the top of the foot

Brilliant, will do this on my endo pro 4 as I got a blister in mine due to my toes being bunched, will test this week 👊 cheers!

Thanks Matt and DOR 👍 Tried it on a pair of Hoka Challenger 6s that I'd shelved for being too tight. Worked a treat, including on a trail marathon at the weekend. This, combined with toe socks and a few bits of Rocktape, saw me finish with no foot problems at all.

Thanks Matt! This is just what I need. Probably consider to demo this with differrent color lace and shoe for higher contrast and better clarity. But good stuff as always. Thanks!

Maybe shoe companies should make wides or higher volume lasts instead of making uppers built for bird feet just so they can advertise lower weight

Thanks so much for the tip. I'm going to try it on my pair of Mach 6's, which are still a bit tight after 50 miles.

Tried this on pairs of endorphin pro 3s and Superblasts that run a little long but narrow in the toe box and mid foot for me. Can’t believe how much it improves the fit! Thanks for the great tip.

Thank you so much for this video, as well as for all the other great content you provide. I often struggle with crammed toes and had no idea this was a thing. Really can’t wait to try it!

Also great if you find the laces are too short and you need to use the upper hole to lock your heel in. Great video!

Cool idea. Some of On shoes come this way but I’m not sure if is just aesthetics for them.

Thank you for the video I really love my Takumi Sen 9 and Streakfly but both give me annoying blisters on my pinky toe. Despite a perfect fit everywhere else

Haven't tried this, but usually skip the first hole and start lacing on second whole works for me

Thank you, thank you, Gracia. So many of the super shoes run so narrow: endorphin pro and speed 1&2, 3; SC Elite.

I'm going to try this with on the Rincon3s, in which I could use some more space. So the only issue left on those will be that annoying tongue!
@BodyMindCulture
@BodyMindCulture Месяц назад
Even better, start the lacing by skipping the first and / or second loop. This applies mostly if the laces aren't long enough.
@Rippy31

What is the best way to keep the tongue centered and avoid slipping into the shoe laterally ? 🦋👣
@TheValonquar

I found better success by skipping the first row althogether and starting the lacing on row 2.

This has no effect on the size of the metatarsal and toes area. Fortunately most of current running shoes (and most other shoes too) are thermoformable. After spending years in termoforming Intuition boot-liners and shells of sky and mountaineering boots, I developed a simple technique that anybody could learn. It requires just a shoe-stretcher (on sale everywhere, incliding online) and a a pot of boiling water. It makes possible to widen the whole toe box volume, ot to mold a bunion garage etc. I wrote about this technique on "Correre" magazine, time ago (italian text), and I am available to spread it.

Anything for middle top of foot pressure/pain? Especially with shoes that have things like gusseted tongues.
@DoctorsofRunning
@DoctorsofRunning Месяц назад
Yes! I’ll upload one in a bit! You can also use this same technique over where you are having pressure.
