Hi Brett, your videos are a treasure trove and really helpful. I have defined a problem and solution statement for my beauty brand, but I need a second set of eyes to assess it and help strengthen it. What type of professional do I look for who specializes in defining these statements?
Thanks Brett. The problem I originally set out to solve, and for which I built a solution, was not accepted by the target market. So I pivoted and repurposed my product to address a different problem experienced by a more receptive market. If I pitch telling the longer story including before the pivot, I speak with passion and conviction. However, if I start the story from after the pivot my delivery sounds wooden and false. What would you say is the more important, to tell the slower genuine story or keep it short and artificial pretending there was nothing before the pivot?
Totally understood you on the longer version. Been meddling with figuring out the balance myself, being short & sweet & still carry that power of the story. But I have yet to watch the video, was just intrigued by your comment
Hi Paul. You're right that you need to be passionate, but you don't have time either. The way I would do it, based on what you said, is make your origin story about the pivot. I hope this helps.
Does the executive summary encompass the problem and solution, or should these be the second slide? Slide 1 = executive summary // Slide 2 problem + solution?
If my first 2 slides are my problem and solution slides, then where do you suggest I put "Our Company /About Us" slide. And where do I put How we make $$ and financials. Don't you want to put those in the early 5 slides while you have audience attention span?
No, I would not recommend doing it that way because it will feel out of order. Download the startup pitch deck template. You can do this by clicking to top comment in the comments section of this video. Then follow the order of the slides in the deck for where those slides belong.
Thank you for your quality video as always. I just have questions. I have an idea for my startup but what if i can't work on until three year due to college? Is it okay for future founders not to work on their idea right away? Also, what if you have mulitple ideas for your startups?
Hi James, For reference, I had the idea for my company for ten years before the timing was right. You'll have to prioritize the ideas you have and pick the best one. I hope this helps.
