Her best skill was convincing Mr. Brown that she was an amateur… when in fact she used to be the Eastern European Poker Champion back in 1956! Well done Grandma! Touché. Great video.

@@Tiiliskivimurhaaja I fund this video extremely stupid and insulting to the audience, it is 100% fake (not even 99.9%): 1) reading people is just a very small part of live poker, even if you are amazing at it, still you need to have poker skills, without poker fundamental (for example not knowing which hand from which position to play pre flop, and how to play it, calling it, or raising it and how much to raise), you can't win in the long term. 2) without knowing the size of their stack and the pot, I can not judge how she played, but I can say that Derren Brown was wrong when he claimed bluff catching by reading people is a fundamental part of poker, mostly good players catch players bluff by knowing their opponents' style of play, by having blockers and by math. It was all scripted, just like a very bad movie.

The 'Trick/Treat' card is an optical illusion that says both depending on which way up you hold the card, so both cards he show have the same symbol on them but one is upside down. I wonder how they really choose whether to trick or treat the participant.

Down to Derren's own discretion and I guess whoever fits what pre-prepared ideas he and the production team have.

I got called up on stage during his new show, although it was very brief Derren seems like a genuinely really lovely guy. Talking to the crew after I was called up (basically ‘debriefing’ making sure any suggestions I had been given weren’t there anymore) they spoke really highly of him and seemed that they really loved their time on the show!

Well here’s my idea. The whole poker game was just organized by the production. These pro-players hired for the day. And the probably have played with a Juice deck or a Marked Deck. And Anne, being a good hypnogic, was taught to read the signs and made suggested that she believed she was reading a tell instead of reading the markings on the deck. Or that tells were arranged with the players and they consciously perform those and Anne was “taught” then. Those are the two most likely scenarios. Because you don’t give of tells. Especially playing for small price pots. There’s no risk so there’s no reason to stress and subconsciously trigger a reflex that can be perceived as a tell.

I want to know what game made for TV would only last 41 hands?
@CallousCoder
@CallousCoder Год назад
@@Mitjitsu I don't know how many hands are usually played but it sounds very small. Further supporting my point that it was a setup for this show and not a real poker tournement.
@Mitjitsu
@Mitjitsu Год назад
@@CallousCoder They're using bicycle playing cards. Chips you can find in any standard poker set. No branding on the tables, or any obvious sponsors. I don't think the cards were marked or anyone was feeding her information. The whole thing was most likely entirely scripted. As you alluded to, players as strong as them don't give off such easy tells, and as soon as they see you're playing close attention they'll just use reverse tells to trick you.
@CallousCoder
@CallousCoder Год назад
@@Mitjitsu The latter isn't the way Derren and Andy work. They really want to give a person an experience. Scripting isn't that much of an experience. Having said that you could script it and with a post hypnotic suggestion (for a while) make that memory go away and it looked to her as though she'd been 2nd in a tournment .Basically a very elaborate stage hypnosis skit.
