Really appreciate you guys making this video. I'm a visual learner, manuals are cumbersome at times, especially when you're a novice and this video was the perfect tool to help me succeed in winterizing our Whitehawk. Subscribed for life, thank you!
This is the best video I've seen on how to winterize. Well done without any down time in between getting from one point to the next on the camper trailer. Winterizing simplified!

We did it! Thanks for your video. We have a Jayco 284BHS and we needed a 1 1/16 ratchet to get our plug out of the water heater. My husband & I are 65 yo retirees, and not handy. Thanks for giving us the confidence to try this.
Did my first winterizing myself this year and this video was a tremendous help. I have a 2017 JayFlight 28BHSW and everything was exact. The only difficulty was getting to that darn water heater as it sits a bit out of reach to turn the bypass valves. You have to be very tiny, skinny and or flexible.
After watching this hopefully you see nothing magical happens just got to make sure we do the right things in the right order. Thanks for watching and commenting
I hope keystone pays you well for doing these videos because I learn something new every time I watch them. Your a good great teacher. You KISS (keep is simple stupid) for slow learners like me. Thank you.
Great video. My wife and I recently purchased a G2 Jayflight. We are in Ontario Canada. The trailer has already been winterized. I am looking for a video that gives a nice step by step re opening tutorial. So basically for the first time going up to the trailer site. Our unit is on a permanent site. So something that runs it down from plugging it in....connecting the water. And most important. All the valves and such to operate and how to flush out the antifreeze etc. That would be awesome! Cheers.
Thanks for the vid, Junior. Didn't think the process was difficult, but, you made it totally clear for us newbies. Really appreciate your help. Ah, heck, take an additional 5 min (50 total) for another Monster Energy Drink, guys! Y'all Be Safe!
Loved the video... I'm glad you had your support dog with you to help Hahaha. :-) Showed this to a friend who is a "newbie" Jayco Jay Flight owner. I just wish my 02 Discovery was that easy to winterize. Great video, Keep up the great work.
Two things. After you drain the rear spickets re close them or you cannot pressurize your system. Also this is a two-person job as someone needs to make sure the antifreeze does not run out while you are outside at the shower
Thanks for the video. Everything has gone normal except for one thing. I have pressure in my cold water but not my hot. I can only find 1 valve at my hot water tank. I have a 2021 Jayco JayFlight 28BHS.
This was great. My one question is when I'm done do I flip the switch back under the kitchen sink? This is my first time doing it myself and I never remember switching it back in the spring time. Thanks for the info!!!!!
Do you dump the antifreeze from the tanks? I thought that was supposed to stay in there during the winter time and then dump afterwards? Good video though! Thank you for sharing!
The real JR thank you for posting this video it’s very helpful. My only question is everyone keeps telling me to blow all the water out of the lines do I need to or leaving them full of antifreeze is fine? Thanks again your videos are great.
DO NOT BLOW OUT THE LINES....we have talked about it in some other videos but the long and short of it is anti freeze is cheap and 9 out of 10 trailers I use to see issues with when spring came around the owners blew the lines out. It is not full proof. $15 for 3 gallons of anti freeze or hundreds if not thousands in repair bills come spring. I know guys that say "I have been doing it for years and never have problems!" Thats cool but I be I have seen more trailers than they have and I am telling you its not full proof
Great video! Thank you! Just dewinterized my trailer, and noticed that a few of my water supply lines were loose causing some dripping. Is this common in jayco Jay flights? I have a 32bhds. Thanks.
Thanks for this video! Just a newbie gonna do this myself for the first time. One question... what about the black tank flush? Do you just dump a little from the bottle into the inlet? Thanks JR!
Great thank you for the video. 1 question I have a 32' with an out door kitchen. Do I let those taps run as well to pink without other intervention. Also , when do you shut off the water pump?
Is there a kit of some kind to add that extra hose for the water pump? I have a FR Cherokee 26bh and that extra hose/valve doesnt exist. I suppose I could just measure fittings and cut one in myself though
This may be a dumb question but do you have the fresh water connected as you are doing this or just antifreeze running through lines? Or is the fresh water tank supplying the water
So we use the water pump to fill the lines with anti freeze The city water connection we press at the end ensures that we get anti freeze to that part of the system too We do not need to do anything but drain the fresh water tank to make it winter ready -JR
I have a 2017 keystone hideout lhs. First year... newbie. I can only find 1 valve on the water heater to flip. Are there other valves that should be flipped??
Every manufacture can be slightly different. It is possible for it to be like that. Biggest test is when you flip it, drain the hot water heater. Before you add anti freeze turn on water pressure and see if anything runs out the hot water heater drain plug opening.
Do you have to put any antifreeze in the fresh water tank? We were off grid and so we filled the fresh water tank for use. Don't want to miss anything! And do you close the low point drains and hot water heater drain plug when you have the antifreeze in place?
I do not put antifreeze in the fresh tank. Just drain it and leave it open so water can drip out. Same idea as leaving the water heater plug out Close low point drains after the water is finished draining out. Leave hot water heater plug out. If water is left in the bottom of the tank when it freezes with the plug left out it allows the water to have an escape path to not cause damage to the tank -JR
We do them on each product line and try to give tips on how to find the water heater and the water pump but doing them on each floorplan is a bit tough with limited time to shoot videos
Can you tell me where the water tank is on a 2006 Jay Flight 27 BH? We need to get it on city water, and there's apparently some sort of switch or handle to move, but no information on where that is... Any help very appreciated!
That does not sound right at all. There is one port to fill the fresh water tank and another to connect city water to the unit. What are you trying to do, what is it not doing and what is it doing?
What if I bought a trailer used and the valves are possibly pointing a direction, is it bypassed or not and if I turn it the other direction will it be now?
Turn them so they are in the closed position going to the hot water heater. The direction the handle is facing vs the pipe shows the direction of the valve You can always test it by turning water onto the system with the plug out of the hot water heater. If water comes out of the drain plug you need to try changing one or more of the valves. I do one at a time. Sorry we could not get a good angle with valves -JR
We don't have a video specifically for Jay Flights, but our general Dewinterizing video should give you a good idea of the process: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AXI7KYXKGNo.html
My travel trailer (which I bought from Keystone) doesn't have the bypass for the water pump. Is it OK to fill up the fresh water holding tank with a couple gallons of antifreeze instead?
I do not recommend it takes a ton of antifreeze to get the tank full enough to pick up and you will never get the slimmy feeling from the tank. Take a look at our video on Hemisphere winterizing and we connect a hose to the water pump. Buy a bypass kit once and be done with it you will be happy every year after that. We also have a video on winterizing products. Any questions feel free to call in and ask for JR or Big John
Is it that necessary to drain the black and grey tanks after winterizing. They were empty before the winterizing process so there is only a little water mixed with antifreeze. I don’t have an easy way to empty the tanks as I’m doing this at home.
Yes. If you figure a holding tank can cost up to $500 or more I do not want to make a $500 bet with mother nature. I know a ton of people that do not but I have also had to order them for customers when I worked in service to know that it can happen. So to me it is not worth a $500+ bet
Stupid question, what is the purpose of the antifreeze, if the waters all been drained out? Is it incase some water is left behind to flush all of it out?
Yes and it is RV anti freeze so its not the same as a car. But the point is to get it out of the low areas and the faucets so they do not freeze up -JR
@@KeystoneRVCenter Thank you for your very informative video and for replying to my question. I haven't turned mine back yet and I completely understand your reasoning. Thanks again
