thanks for this , i work in an electrical company and i failed my sectt test twice last year , but i passed it today.. finally 3rd time lucky so my boss is going to take me on as an apprentice now so happy days for me
yes one eletricican method is to strip down it, so you dont radial cut a conductor, with twin and earth they use the earth like a cheesee cutter, but its harder to get a neat bit for the cord gripper to work with
thanks fella I will turn mains of all together, I notice on terminal block for new one it has tabs not screws like old block, when u press tab wire can go into either hole, each tab has two holes hope I make sense
Yes, some connectors require you to push a spring in using a screwdriver or similar before inserting the wire, when you remove the screwdriver the spring grips the conductor in the wire.
managed to get lights swapped over, not difficult, two different lights front one pleased with back one rubbish, have to get to close before it comes on, going to take back, thanks for help
Although I have known how to wire a plug since I was about 8 years old, (I'm 50 next month), I noticed that the plug u used is a pre 1986 duraplug, (uninsulated pins and shiny Cover), and yes I've got items with this age of plug, officially nowadays this would fail the part P pat test as insulated pins are now mandatory.
hi there hope you well,I have exterior light that I switch on inside,I want to replace with a pair light is this straight forward, I will turn light on turn electric off go outside make sure lights off switch to off position wire in new light put mains back on,wait till night time should come on,do I keep light switch in off position to have per work and if want light to stay on press on switch?, thanks for any advice

i like how you didnt shortcut, you showed stripping the outer (which some people do very wrong and cause safety issues), and you didnt use 200 quids worth of fancy strippers and tools
yes you can! its called a doubl insulated device, which is common nowdays, just wire the brown and blue properly and make sure the screw for the earth is tight to make sure it doesnt drop out inside the plug
You have to be careful with outside lights as it's not always obvious which circuit they are wired into, so it's critical to isolate the correct circuit. It should be a case of just isolating the correct circuit then replacing the old light with a new one.
@ultimatehandyman: No offence, but if you're going to do an instructional video, for something as potentially dangerous as electricity, you better make sure you do it correctly.
