1984 Chevy truck wiring an electric choke of an edelbrock carburetor. For demonstration on adjustment of the edelbrock carburetor I recommend this link • Edelbrock Carburetor I... and the others associated with it. Very good videos!
this helped me with my problem. I had a red wire just kind of hanging out not connected to anything. I had figured it went to the choke but I wasn't sure. My choke hasn't been working right either so this video helped me put 2 and 2 together. Big help! Thank you
Late response to your comment, but I have my stereo hard wired so it only turns on when I turn it on whether the key is on or not. I won't need to turn the key on that way to listen to the radio. The red wire is wired to the ignition on my fuse box shown in my video. If there is another way to wire it to the ignition I'm not aware of it. Thanks for the comment
While a good idea in principle, the alternator output is connected to battery hot. Even if the alternator isn't running there is voltage supplied, even when the car and ignition switch is turned to off. It's generally not advised to switch an ignition switch to the on position when the vehicle isn't running anyway.
How do u install a edelbrock 1405 non electric choke on a 350 that has a 1406 electric choke on it right now? Do u just install the 1405 & take out the red & black wires out completely & im good to go?
An update to this video: The volts should read 12 or more. The reason I didn't have it reading a full 12 is because the male wire clip wasn't in between the two metal points of the female clip in the fuse box. Make sure that you check that. I noticed that after I did this video.
Any auto parts store will have the proper wires and connections. As far as the ones that are on mine they were already there when I bought the truck. I would highly suggest getting the male and female clips with the plastic insulation around it. Also I didn't show that I grounded the choke to one of the screws on the carburetor choke. Let me know if you have any other questions. I just recently installed a tachometer successfully as well.
I actually never installed an extra fuse on that wire. There is a fuse that is used on the fuse box right next to it that is a 20A. The same one that is linked to the ignition. You'll see it in the video. It's the yellow one. Hope that's what you were looking for.
